If Detroit is actually listening to offers on anyone but raymond and seider then we should try and pry Larkin from them. Imo, he is the perfect center for us, and for a guy like that I'm less concerned about what the price to aquire him is. Does a 1st, Kravtsov, Lundkvist type package get the conversation going? If so to aquire him and lose nothing off your roster would be unreal.

Rakell and Zibanejad had amazing chemistry in the 2018 World Championship. Combined for 25 points as Sweden won gold and were brilliant to watch together. They played with Janmark who is a direct, fast and physical player, and stylistically reminiscent of Kreider (a worse version of course).

Rakell obviously put up much better NHL numbers in 2018 than he is doing today, but there is pretty obviously a great hockey player in there still, that's clear when I watch him. Anaheim have played negative, risk-minimizing hockey for years now. Put Rakell with good players around him and I think he can help us a lot. His trade value is probably lower than it should be because he has been slumping compared to his previous self, but I don't think he has just lost the ability to create chances and score at a very high level. Needs a better environment.

Kreider - Zibanejad - Rakell would be a balanced line with speed, goalscoring and a pass first creator.

Hornqvist appeared to be hurt during the Vegas-Florida game last night and did not return. Hand injury of some sort. If he is out for any period of time, this may push Florida do different things and mitigate their need to juggle the salary cap.

Horny is a big playoff type player . Would love a couple for our team . Penguins always found these guys . Kunitz & Hornqvist 2 of the modern day best crease guys in the game . Kunitz was a dandy in his time .

Larkin will get $8M minimum in his next contract. JT Miller's agent tweeted Tom Cruise yelling Show Me The Money when Hertl signed. The Canucks have considered trying to re-sign Miller. They don't want to go above $8M. The Rangers don't have $8M for Miller. The Rangers are in a tough spot with their options at center.

I don't think the TB club has the stones to complete a 3 peat...that is a HUGE physical price to pay and I just don't see some guys owning it . I think they are gone by round 2. Most players with 2 Cups already would not want to go to war again . It's a taxing 16 wins.

Sounds like the Ekblad injury isn't too bad where he will likely be out until the playoffs. Probably can pull a Tampa and LTIR him until the playoffs. Don't think need almost any retention on Giroux now.

I am all for getting Larkin as well. I just dont see Detroit moving him for a fair price. He is the best option to improve the team and checks a lot of boxes

The Rangers can fit Larkin or Miller long term. It requires a corresponding trade of Trouba probably. Maybe also Lindgren. It depends on what Lafreniere gets.

In saying that Larkin will be 26 when he hits UFA. Miller will be 31. That’s a HUGE difference. If happily give Larkin and extension. Miller not so much

Kind of hoping we just get Domi for cheap given his cap hit and lack of space for most other teams. Something like a 2nd for Domi + a 4th. Would be fine on the second or third line for the rest of the year

Don’t want Rackell for the rumored price of a 1st and would rather not trade for someone like him who is a marginal upgrade but will push Laf off the first line. Realistically our chances of winning the cup are pretty low and it’s important to give the young guys like Laf, Kakko, Miller, etc opportunity to play in key roles as we’ll likely need them in those roles to actually win a cup

I believe so yes but they are saying he will be out 6 weeks minimum. That's more than 10 games.

Edit: it's 10 games and 24 days they have to be on LTIR.

honestly I hope we stand pat now. this market is ridiculous, the returns for Hagel and Ben friggin Chiarot were astronomical. let these teams cripple their farm systems as much as they can now and we'll reap the benefits in future seasons. I really wanted Lehkonen but that was before we got Vatrano for almost nothing. once Kakko comes back I'm alright with what we have. add some depth players I guess and call it a day.

All (almost) factors are for the Rangers to stay pat - the upcoming cap crunch, the ridiculous prices, the need to see what they have in their own youngsters next year... Like look at Chytil - since returning from his injury his been very good - and that playing with the likes of Hunt, Brodzinski, Gauthier for cry sake. If he played like this all season - it would be considered another He’s not going to get a chance while Strome is here. Don’t resign Strome and see the next year how he does with a choice of proper wingers. If not - Gourde or the likes will still be there to trade for if it doesn’t workout with Chytil.

Giordano is also going for a 1st, so it'd be one or the other in that scenario.

Honestly would rather just get Domi. Talent and grit. I think he'd do well with Gallant.

Don't need the bells and whistles this trade deadline. Focus on making the playoffs an experience for the kids and not a demolition.

Reassess around the draft and see who is available.

Max Domi is the biggest fake tough guy in the league and he has less than 20 hits on the entire season. Dude just acts like he does to live up to his last name.

I swear no one on here watches him. Everyone just likes the idea of him but he’s really not what you think he is.
