Point is one of the worst targets to offer sheet. He's good but the guy you're going to risk four first rounders on is the one who has been stapled to Kucherov all year, has 33 pppts by being on the best pp in the league, and is shooting 22%?

I don't know what the Point is about all of the offer sheet speculation. The Rangers aren't going to lose four 1st rounders for a guy that may or may not make a difference. The time to make an offer sheet is when the team is ready to contend and has cap space. If the picks can be assured to be between 20-32 for the next four years, offer sheeting a good player could be worth it. But not to a team in the midst of a rebuild.

Can’t wait for the Rangers to open their coin purse this summer and go hard at Panarin. Then I can witness how many people, for whatever reason, will cry about having an 80+ point winger.
If that is your statement, that just tells me that instead of understanding what people are saying as their reason, you just stuck your head in the sand because you need a safe space to hear solely your view.

The reality is that if you offer sheet Point, you can essentially kiss any dealings with Tampa goodbye. Most GMs are going to be very hesitant to seal any doors shut.

This. And its why we rarely see offer sheets happen. Yet it always comes up at the end of the season and into the off season trade rumor mill. Getting a kick out of what some folks think Kreider would get in return... and now talk of trading Zib, lol.

Its starting to sound as if some people would be upset if they signed Panarin and kept both Kreider and Zib. Is that whats happening now?

I think only one poster has ascribed to that viewpoint. I think trading Kreider is probably 50/50, and those against it are mostly coming to the conclusion there’s a (strong, IMO) possibility it could happen. I think signing Panarin is probably 60/40 in favor of signing him. (For the record, I’m against it). I’ve seen only two or three posters in favor of trading Zibanejad.

I agree. The Bolts haven't moved Foote, despite him coming up in every big proposal involving them for the better part of a year. I don't see him going in a salary dump deal. Raddysh's value isn't quite as hot as it was in 2017, but I also don't see him being included.

I think an offer to the Rangers to take Callahan, if there is one, is more likely to be the restrictions coming off the first in 2019, and another pick added as a sweetener --- maybe a second in 2020. I don't see Tampa trading an almost NHL-ready prospect to get rid of Callahan.

It's hard to say. Chicago gave up Teravainen in order to dump 1 year of Bickel, and Bickel's cap hit was only 4 mil. If we are taking Callahan's entire 5.8 mil cap hit for 1 year, what is that worth to them?

Maybe we can get one of those prospects, but we have to give something back as well, like Carolina did. The entire deal was Bickell and Teravainen for a 2nd in 2016 and a 3rd in 2017.

If Tampa doesn't win the cup, do we give them back their pick, plus a 3rd in 2020, and get back Callahan and Foote?

Trade Kreider for a 2020 1st and a B+ prospect. Start loading up on 2020 picks even more than the 10 they already have and use all that capital to move up if you need to, that draft is insanely good

Can’t wait for Panarin to not be available in free agency because a team traded for his rights and signed him long-term.

What incentive would he have to sign long term as opposed to waiting a week to become a FA? He can't get an 8th year at that point.
