Damn, Larry Brooks just killed the case for rentals with his most recent article.

who knows what Chicago wants. Chytil+?

Edmonton needs depth and a goalie. Chytil, Rooney, Georgiev etc.

A trade could be worked out
Trading Rooney is borderline idiotic, he's been on of the consistently beat players on this team for two years. Trade geo, are you running Kincaid as the backup or using koskinen?

My point is you want to move on from chytil for the same reason other teams can see as well. You want better players from other teams that also want their own better players.

This board constantly overvalues our assets and devalues other team's assets or their leverage.

If you want something than getting it is going to hurt, that's the basis of wanting something someone else has.

Imagine of Drury can pull of a heist of Zibanejad-like proportions and get a guy like Hintz...
The mere idea of Hintz makes me sad. This is the kind of guy I want them to go unload some of these loaded bullets we've got.

Unfortunately that isn't going to happen because the player doesn't want to be here. We need to let go of this fantasy of Kravtsov coming back.

What kind of example for your organization does it set when a prospect is told he needs a few weeks of conditioning to get back to the big club and he refuses to report, demands a trade, bolts to Russia and then comes back to a nice cozy first line spot with 20 mins a night waiting for him?

People need to understand that hockey is not all about graphs and plugging players into open roles. This team is trying to build an identity and a culture and that means nothing if you let a player who pissed in the face of that right back into the lineup like nothing happened.

Accountability is important and Kravtsov has shown very little of it. He may mature and still be a very good player in this league (I think he will) but both parties are best served moving on.
Graphs? What are you on about?

Accountability is one thing. Cutting off your nose to spite your face is another.

We still don’t know what happened behind closed doors. If our options are to use our highly touted prospect in a role that both suits him and fills a need, or to trade him away for scraps and watch him blossom elsewhere, the decision seems pretty simple to me.

Who is holding Drury and the organization accountable? Or is this a one way street?

Absolutely zero interest in becoming an even worse skating team.

We have a glaring hole at the top line RW and we have a highly skilled, cost controlled prospect just waiting for us in the K. Plugging VK into Buch’s old spot next to Mika is so obvious that I don’t even want to type it.

Bring VK back. Trade surplus D for a speedy, 25ish yo 2 way center. Maybe upgrade Nemeth with someone decent and cheap.

This is what should happen. But Drury is too upset at VK to make it work.

He's helped build an elite team in a minute. They have constantly made things work. People need to stop acting like Jason botterill is the gm there or something...
Easier to make things work when you don't have to worry about the 16 million dollars worth of players you have on LTIR that need to get back on the roster. That team has been built like a Drunken Sailor.

We are not best served if we get nothing of substantial long term value for him, and he goes somewhere else and becomes a valuable top 6 player.

Kakko leads our team in many advanced metrics that say he is a vauable player who just needs the lightbulb to click for him. It's worrying that he hasn't made the jump yet, of course, but at least there is an obvious path to NHL success there.

Miller by many metrics has been clearly worse than last year and as much as no one ever seems to bring this up, is being chased by 3-4 other defenders in our system who it would not be shocking if they end up clearly better than him. Let's cling to Miller for some reason, though.

I have a hard time seeing Lundkvist being dragged around in the AHL or 7th defensemen for 2 years.

that’s the problem w some prospects

he shouldn’t have a choice . 3 year entry level

plus I’m not positive Schneider will never go down again

Panarin on the top line makes sense. Stick Laf with Strome and let them focus on getting a lot of offensive zone starts. Goodrow takes 3C and give him a 2 way winger that can control play/possession. Kakko was thriving with takeaways for most of the season, he could play on either 2nd or 3rd line.

Hajek playing tonight was interesting. Possibly a showcase to move for someone like Debrusk? Just like a show-me game. Debrusk is a fine reclamation project of someone who could play hard on the 4th line. I see him as a better Hunt.

I get the sense that we are hard after Chychrun. Chytil makes sense a piece going there.

Trent Fredric and Jake Debrusk should be nowhere near this team. Both are garbage and add nothing to this team that we dont already have.

Difference between Hunt and Debrusk is Hunt is signed for 1 more year at $760K while Debrusk is an arbitration eligible RFA this summer who's qualifying offer I believe is $3.7MM. Think that might be a bit too pricey with the Rangers cap situation next season and to possibly play him on the 4th line.
Sometimes in situations like this, the player will agree to a one-way with term for less AAV than they’re currently making. That being said, DeBrusk likely to not get qualified and will be a UFA. Best to sign him then, if ever.

If he's as unready as you have constantly claimed, why would you have a hard time seeing that?

Or have we just drawn our final conclusions on a 20 year old that he's both not ready now, never will be good enough either, but also good enough to not want to play in the AHL and work on his game?

It’s behind a paywall. Do you want to quote from it?

Am I allowed to post articles or excerpts?

It basically just runs down how all these building teams over the years do not win Cups their first time back to the playoffs and that we need to look at our 5v5 struggles and draw the conclusion that, despite having older players like Kreider and Panarin, that we aren't going to either. Patience.

Basically saying no team in the Rangers position coming out of a rebuild and missing the playoffs for a number of years has ever won the cup, and that the most important thing is just to get in an get experience, so don't blow the cupboard out for this year.

And he's not wrong.

I’m pretty much ready to see what a Kravtsov, Chytil , Jones , 1st will get

not necessarily all in 1 deal but I think Drury makes moves and likely a big one

Throw Lundkvist in there too, Schneider has passed him. Hajek/Gauthier will probably be throw in. Get some new blood in before the playoffs
