Jake Debrusk makes $3.75m against the cap. Boston has something like $300k in cap space at the deadline to help improve themselves. Debrusk has 13 points in 37 games played. What does Boston think they will get for him?

Im doubtful there will be many teams lining up for him at the deadline. Boston won’t re-sign him due to his QO. Perhaps the Rangers move someone like Gettinger or Reunanen and a late pick? See if he can come in and play better in a new spot on the 3rd line.

One guy who has been bandied about here a bit but not much in depth would be Max Domi. I wonder how high the Rangers front office is on him as a player and if they think he could play center. I say this because he has decent production @ 17 points in 28 games on Columbus which isn't exactly setting the world on fire in just over 13 minutes of time per game. If the plan were to go after Chychrun and let Strome walk due to cap purposes, I could see the team kicking the tires on a 2 year deal for Domi. Let him come in and play with Lafreniere and Kaako or Panarin or whoever the hell gels to round out the top-6. He should get limited defensive matchups with Zibanejad and Goodrow/Barron as the 1/3C's. Perhaps he makes $3.5m per season? Maybe $4m?

Isn’t Domi considered a bit of a pill? If nothing else, we know the rangers are being very careful with the personalities they bring in.

the big issue with that.... is who?

Who is out there better than Strome? and what would it cost? It'd take assets and cap space. The only thing in my mind that would make sense is a Center locked up for a few years and either the trading team or a 3rd team retains. Gourde, Karlsson etc.

We wouldn’t be discussing the top of the heap. It would have to be guys like Travis Boyd, Max Domi, Derrick Brassard, Ryan Getzlaf (if he leaves which I doubt), maybe there is a vet that a team wants to move and will retain on but that’s doubtful.

Probably a filler for a year, maybe two, until they can shuffle things around as needed to fill whatever hole they want.

Yea, for sure. In saying that, he’s also a bit of a PIA to play against when on his game and motivated. May be a good option on a 2 year prove it deal

I don't believe that would happen. He'd be playing with Trouba most likely.

Honestly it would be the worst thing to just pair him with Schneider so you have 3 legit pairings.

Play him with Fox later in games when you need a goal. Play him with Fox on the PP.

getting rid of Nemeth and adding a unit like Chychrun is a double fold improvement

It allows for more maneuvers down the road too. Whether it's Lindgren or KAM possibly being traded for an upgrade at Center.

but if he was to only play on the 3rd pair, then just make Jones Schneider a thing already

Nils, Krav and a 1st would be my final offer for Chychrun. If that doesn't work then move on. I have mentioned on here before that this team should target a guy like Gavrikov for their bottom LD. Would certainly be the cheaper move. Doesn't make sense to me to move a LD in Miller for another LD, you trade from strength (RD prospects) for weakness (LD).

I could be swayed to add an additional pick (one of the seconds) or another prospect as well to push it over the line, but my main pieces would be Nils and Krav.

He should play with Fox at all times, then we play neither of them on the PK. Miller-Trouba and Lindgren-Schneider as the primary PK pairs.

Cmon. Who said that? Or in what world Lundkvist is a spare part other than the fact that the Rangers have Schneider to step in. The Swede has been ranked just as high as Miller and it’s a fact. Again if there was no Schneider - prospect of losing Lundkvist would hurt the Rangers organization quite a bit. And it’s not like Arizona is set at RD to turn away from a chance of getting one. In fact getting Lindgren, Lundkvist and Kravtsov would allow Arizona to almost immediately fill out three spots of the future core they’re trying to build (again, but that’s a separate topic).
