I quit following him.
I was going to like this post until I realized you traded kakko….
If we get Chychrun I'm guessing we will move K'andre, Kravtsov and a 1st. We get better immediately, but likely the Coyotes win the trade long term. That's the kind of trade that gets made. But are we ready to be that trading partner yet? To me, that's the kind of trade made when we at the next level which hopefully comes next year.Chychrun would be a great add, and a potentially massive one for this team.
that said, I feel its a given that he will play limited minutes on a third pair with nemeth. the org doesn't like changing its duos. if that's the case, I'd rather save the assets and just get a good 3rd pairing guy instead
I think they'll hold out for Miller who is still a project but gives them the upside to really win the trade big time.Nils, Krav and a 1st would be my final offer for Chychrun. If that doesn't work then move on. I have mentioned on here before that this team should target a guy like Gavrikov for their bottom LD. Would certainly be the cheaper move. Doesn't make sense to me to move a LD in Miller for another LD, you trade from strength (RD prospects) for weakness (LD).
I could be swayed to add an additional pick (one of the seconds) or another prospect as well to push it over the line, but my main pieces would be Nils and Krav.
Nobody read my 2nd post, I'll just go back and edit that boneheaded oneHe upgraded him to Lehkonen

IMO if the Rangers get Chychrun, it's not to lose KAM in the process. It's to eventually move Lindgren down the depth chart, and ultimately make him expendable when his deal is up in a couple of more seasons. As much as I love Lindgren's heart and passion, he plays the type of game with a short shelf life. He's a Girardi. Don't sign him to a Girardi contract after his current contract expires.
For the foreseeable future:
Lindgren - Fox
JC - Trouba
KAM - Schneider
This is good because KAM isn't really good enough to be 2nd pairing on a playoff team yet. He's still out of position far too frequently. He is better suited for more sheltered minutes. As KAM improves, transition to:
KAM/JC - Fox
JC/KAM - Trouba
Lindgren - Schneider
Long term, post-Lindgren:
KAM/JC - Fox
JC/KAM - Trouba
X - Schneider
Schneider moves up as Trouba declines or once his contract is up.
The more I think about it the more I’m somewhat okay with trying to find a decent 2C to help fill that hole for a year or two if they can get Chychrun in at a somewhat reasonable price.
I'm passing then. Feel like the purpose (at least for this season) would be to add him TO Miller and not subtract Miller to add him. Chychrun is better but the move still feels lateral. If I'm trading Miller it's for a center, not another LD.I think they'll hold out for Miller who is still a project but gives them the upside to really win the trade big time.
4 min mark O'Brien throws a name out there I never really thought about... Patty Kane. (Pure speculation, no truth to this btw.) 1 more year on his contract after this one at $10.5M. If Chicago is willing to retain 50% and you get Kane for 2 runs and next year at $5.25M, what's it worth to reunite him with Panarin?Offer starts with Kakko+Kravtsov I'd say...
lindys only 23. I’d extend him on 1 more contract. Say 5 years-5.5 mill. Cap will have gone up and that only takes him to 31-32. Still should be easily moveable and have a lot of value.
But that would be it for me. Much like G/Staal, you don’t want to extend him with size/style of play at 29-30 years old and have him until 34-35.
That would be looking for trouble. But I’d keep him until KAM/Robertson/ maybe even Jones or Chycrun if they get him can move him down the depth chart a bit.
He’s an important heart and soul player. Losing him would be like losing Fast, but he plays top pair and makes Fox comfortable.
mid they can run a top 4 of
Lindgren -Fox
Chycrun-Trouba ( ultimately Schneider)
for more then half the game, that’s a really strong asset.
its also gives you options to deal 1-2 of KAM/Robertson/Jones for help on offense.
I’d wager Robertson comes away with that last spot over the next year and a half, possibly making Miller expendable.
Robertson, much like Schneider has the size and puck moving ability the rangers want on their D. The hope is he progresses to the point that you’ll be able to drop lindgren down the line up in 2-3 seasons...
miller and his physical gifts are the wildcard. He’s gotten better every season straight out of college. The org seems to love him. And he progresses physical tools that players/coaches dream of. It’s all going to depend on how he develops over the next year and a half imo.
Does he keep improving/developing? Or does he top out the Skjei?? Has size/speed/tools, but can’t take that next step.
Miller has parayko speed/size/ability. It’s just a matter of if he can hit his ceiling or not... that’s the big question.
Either way, we should have a pretty devastating young D with shesty between the pipes.
In theory you could because the other 2 LD will be cheap. Chycrun at just over 4 mill and Robertson on ELCI'm fine with keeping Lindgren for an extra year or two to carry him to UFA status if they can afford it at that time. I'm just thinking they maybe won't be able to, or want to, pay his raise if he's dropping down to the 3rd pairing by then.
I’m jealous you’ve still got a full one percent

What would you offer for Mark Scheifle?
What do you need? His defensive numbers are very bad though, and I'm not sure how much of an upgrade he would be over Strome honestly because of that. I know he's extremely skilled and if he just recovers somewhat defensively he'd be awesome to have.Jets/Coyotes fan here...

Grew up in Winnipeg a Jets fan. When they relocated I still cheered for the team in Arizona. When Jets 2.0 happened I had to cheer for them but still followed the Coyotes as my 1b team.I don't have an answer but was wondering who you root for when they play each other.
Would we do Kravtsov, a first, Nils (right D) and Robertson (left D) for Chychrun? Makes the farm look much emptier, but add a very good D.

Yep. I think Miller - and I didn’t see this months ago - becomes a legit PMD with a wicked shot who can also take up a ton of space in the neutral zone. A real disruptive force on defense and a playmaker on the attack. Pretty sure the rangers don’t trade him, anyhow. So excited for his break out.I definitely do not wish to trade Miller unless there's an intriguing young center prospect coming back. Even here I'm unsure, because 3-4 years from now is Miller going to be a beast, who can lug the puck up ice, play both special teams, and shut down the opposition's best offensive players? Seems highly plausible.
I have always liked his game. According to that article he is also very good at carrying the puck through the neutral zone which is always a problem for us it seems . He plays well despite splitting time between the 3rd and 4th lines and playing with Simmonds and Spezza 2 dinosaurs . He needs one more point to equal his best year in 13 less games . Like I said earlier he is big -sneaky fast-cheap and only 25 and a pending RFA . He could be a damn fine replacement piece for Chytil if we move him or Rooney if not resigned . From what I read he can also play the RW if needed . A big young shutdown center making currently 1.25 million . This is the guy we should be all over if we can obtain him cheap enough . I think he could eventually be a 45-50 pt forward with good wingers .Engvall and Mikheyev are two really good support forwards on Toronto, and I think either would be a great addition for us
