Miller does a lot for us and if we can get him at 50% retained which is what I expect we are going for it’s huge

and I’d gladly trade anyone that’s not currently on the roster in a package for him.

I honestly wouldn't like a JT Miller move. He's not a major difference maker 5v5, he's a detriment on defense over the past couple seasons

Miller definitely makes more sense than Chychrun.


With that said, there does seem to be quite a lot of smoke involving our team, so I would be surprised if we didn't make some sort of moderate/big trade by the deadline.

Chychrun is gonna net a haul I'm not overly comfortable giving up. All teams with cap issues are gonna be in on him because of his cap value. I like the idea of having a controlled player but the deadline is the worst time to trade for a guy like him.

Agreed. People can say “it’s different,” but the fact is the suggestions I’m hearing from many on this board are the prices for Star young forwards or centers.

That's just a nonsense narrative endlessly repeated by the media likely because of Crosby/Malkin. You don't need good center depth. You need good players. CHI won with bad center depth. Vegas made the finals with bad center depth. TB won back to back cups with Cirelli as their 2C who is a good player but was by no means a star player. I would say it is 100% the preferred route when you have an elite winger like Chi with Kane, or us with Panarin.

Hertls numbers are overwhelmingly even strength.

Chychrun is the guy. Long term piece. Pair him with fox. Include Lindgren to make the money easier to work.

Kravtsov, Jones, Lindgren and a first for chychrun and kessel.

I will say this, Drury's experience winning a Cup in Colorado will play a role here. That team was built incredibly on the back-end with Bourque, Blake, Foote and De Vries along with Roy in net. If that's the model he is going for, he has Fox and Trouba already and Lindgren actually tracks similarly to someone like De Vries in terms of rounding out a top-4...
