I feel like the trade packages being discussed here assume he’s a top 15 defender but man I have a hard time getting him into that group. That’s high, high praise.

I agree the risk is there. It's a good amount to give up, I don't think the Rangers give up more than Kravstov (I have a hard time seeing him in a NYR again after everything has happened), Lundkvist and a #1.

Watch Chychrun play over the last few seasons he has all the tools to be that #1 guy. It's hard to see those things unless you try to look at his play in a vacuum due to that dumpster fire of an organization.

I just feel like part of the reason to trade for Chychrun is to fill the hole in the lineup that is Nemeth. So I'd rather trade someone like Lundkvist.
Of course. But would Arizona take Lundkvist? without adding and adding?

I would much rather do KAM for Chychrun straight up that Krav, Nils a first and more.
This is my point as well. KAM still probably holds a ton of value vs guys like Nils meaning you probably have to add plus plus to Nils.

The Rangers can’t help themselves though. They can’t just build a home grown team that will compete for a long term. They have to buy 23-27 year olds for short term windows. They’ll never learn, it’s the ownership.

You want KAM as a one for one?
hate giving him up as much as anyone but not sure we can afford to give up any of our young forwards like Othmann, Berard or Kakko which I am sure arizona is asking for if the Lundell rumors are true.
Not even sure KAM gets it done one for one.
Of course all Ranger fans would do Kravtsov and Nils

I know that the luster is off Kravtsov quite a bit and Nils a little less but still quite a bit but those two guys still have potential to be top 6 and top 4 players. Kravtsov didn light the world on fire last year in the NHL but he's only played a handful of games and looked very promising early on. Lundkvist has been playing much better. If Kravtsov didn't throw a hissy fit and we didn't have one of the deepest D pools in the league we wouldn't want to part with either guy. This is NOT spare parts. And Florida won't get Lundell who many have compared to Barkov.

Krvay and Nils...I guess depends on how many other teams are in on Chychrun? maybe a little more and it gets done?

If they go for the D in ARZ. I wouldn’t be surprised to see NYR flip Lindgren in the off-season for center help.

Weren't you saying not to trade for rentals and suggesting other players in the 23-27 age range? I don't really know if I want chychrun, or if I believe a trade is that close, but 23-27 is not a short term move.

Chychrun is gonna net a haul I'm not overly comfortable giving up. All teams with cap issues are gonna be in on him because of his cap value. I like the idea of having a controlled player but the deadline is the worst time to trade for a guy like him.

Chychrun is having a bad year, but it's hard not to have a bad year on that team.

He's a super strong defenseman. Give me fox and chychrun with trouba and Miller for 50 mins a night in the playoffs and I think we have a shot.

We still need a forward or 2. I'm all in on Kessel. But that's just me.

The East is stacked
Miller isn’t ready for that yet but will be soon
Just rent low and try and get past round 1
Don’t mortgage the future on Chychrun
The right F ok

Entire teams cannot be homegrown (the term is also debatable in meaning). It just doesn't work like that. I dont know what the league average is right now, but if you consider "homegrown" to be a players first NHL season playing with a team, the Rangers current roster of 23 skaters has 12 ( a hair more than 50%).

Kreider, Chytil, Kakko, Laff, Gauthier, Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Schneider, Hajek, Shesh and Geo.

Really tough to rank him since he plays in a market nobody really pays attention to. I truthfully barely know anything about him.

He was downright impressive last season. People who nix this idea didn't see him play much last season I wager. He'd be a core piece on the Rangers if he finds last season's form, not a solid piece, not a supporting piece but a foundational piece. In significance it could be a reverse McDonagh type of trade (not literally ofc but in terms of impact). That's why his availability is drawing so much interest from around the league.

KAM absolutely does not get it done 1 for 1. Chychrun is only slightly older and was already a better Defenseman than KAM is now. Chych is who we hope KAM can develop into and he hasn't even reached his prime yet.

Is this a possibility? Sure. Is it a preferred route when all we hear about is how every contender must have good center depth? Probably not.

That's just a nonsense narrative endlessly repeated by the media likely because of Crosby/Malkin. You don't need good center depth. You need good players. CHI won with bad center depth. Vegas made the finals with bad center depth. TB won back to back cups with Cirelli as their 2C who is a good player but was by no means a star player. I would say it is 100% the preferred route when you have an elite winger like Chi with Kane, or us with Panarin.
