Friedman says we’re in on chychrun.

@BBKers posted that NYR could very well go big game hunting.

We’ve got 1.5 guys who can move the puck, Fox and Trouba can decently. Miller can if he used his skating ability more. It’s an area of need.

We have 2.

Fox and Shesterkin lol.

Trouba isn't a good puck mover (though its been better this year.) Lindgren and Miller I'd grade out as "adequate." Miller has a ceiling to be very good here but like you said, needs to skate it out more.

Nemeth sucks at it. Nils sucked at it. Schneider has been adequate as well.

I'm hesitant on getting a top6 rental.

We want our kids getting the opportunities and experience, no? I'm fine living and dying with them.... it may be severe copium but I see them getting it together

I think insulating them with another veteran top 6 forward can only help their development

Didn’t Nemeth have a good run in Dallas? With Klingberg asking out I wonder if they would consider a Nemeth + for Klingberg deal. The Rangers bring in Klingberg and pair him with Trouba on the 2nd pairing. I know he can be a bit of an adventure but he can provide solid puck moving skills on the back end and probably won’t cost a ton?

right, so 1 really good. 4 average at best, and 1 horrid. Upgrade the horrid.

Here’s one of my concerns with adding any top-6 forward at the deadline. Most, if not all of the guys we discuss feast on their respective PP’s. Pavelski is a great example. He has 11 of his 38 points on the PP. who is he replacing on PP1? So we’re paying for his production elsewhere knowing he won’t replicate it here. That’s a recipe for disappointment.

This is why depth options make more sense.

Pavelski is 15th in the league in 5v5 points. 16th in 5v5 pts/60. He also has elite possession numbers and is great defensively. And he provides insurance if Kreider gets hurt you have a great replacement for his role on PP1. Great on faceoffs too if anyone cares about that.

And this is great, but what happens to him when he doesn’t get the reps on the PP in general? There is more to this than just saying he scores at that rate now. His role will change.

It’s the same argument we see with Laf and Kaako. They don’t get the time to get comfortable and build confidence which creates better play during 5v5.

Nothing happens. He's going to forget how to play because he goes from 2:29/game on the PP to 1:24/game (what Lafreniere is getting)?

He's the absolute perfect fit. The team has 5v5 possession issues. He's one of the best there is at that. He contributes in all situations and in all roles. He's an obvious rental with no concerns of a long term commitment with his age. He can fill in at almost any role if someone gets hurt - and someone will get hurt at some point.

That isn't really feasting.

How about a Max Domi (UFA at season end, his dad was a fan favorite here maybe he resigns here) for 2ed (Blues)? Can play center, wing and has skill and is a chippy play. Perfect skilled agitator for the playoffs.

I don't get this. His 38 points would place him 5th on the Rangers right now. Even if you back out the PP points it makes him 6th. One more for you. He has more points than Kakkoo. Laf and Chytil COMBINED. You don't think that is production or depth?

Yeah i think people are overthinking the PP angle with Pavelski. Hes still a great player in any situation

I think you get a top 6 rental so the kids can play with quality forwards up and down the lineup, and for additional depth, not to push all the kids onto a single line that plays 10 minutes a night.

Not for nothing, but you take those 11 points away and he’s still fifth in this team in scoring. I haven’t looked at our guy’s stat breakouts, but I’d bet he’d be leading our team in ES points.

Hintz would be a great get, but that ship has sailed.

Pavelski or Copp would probably be the two I'd really look into, but that's assuming Winnipeg doesn't re-sign Copp or use him as a self-rental.

Jarnkrok might be a good depth option, too. Anyone want Namestnikov round 2?
