Hell no.

Not giving up that much for someone that doesn't even help address a weakness.

You want to give all that up for a legit young 1st line center, then we can talk.
Dosent address a weakness? It’s been rumored the teams been looking to acquire another defenseman for months

Lindgren, Fox, Chychurn and Trouba would be a Stanley cup winning top 4 and the best top 4 in the league for the next 2/3 years

The time for them to try and win is near term, hugging prospects for some non existent center deal (or any other deal) is silly

Looks like Chytil is going to remain on the wing so Barron can get an extended look.

The other interesting situation is Laf/Goodrow for 2RW. Looks like Gallant prefer Goodrow for now.

Laf's probably just had his most consistent period of hockey while aging with legit top-6 players, seems a bit stupid to suddenly have him with Rooney and Chytil.

I dont have the solution (other than CK to the 3rd line), but the team really does need to figure out a way to get Laf consistently into the top-6

Chychrun is also signed to an unbelievable contract for the next three years while the Rangers window will be open. Who knows what happens with Lindgren after his current deal is up?

Chychrun is basically Lindgren with much more offense to his game. He and Fox for the next 10 years on the top pairing would be an absolute boon.

You deal Chytil, a prospect and a 1st for Chychrun. You still have Lundkvist, Kravtsov, STL's and our own 2nd, plus a few B prospects to make a deal for a center.

That prospect is gonna have to be Schneider/Lundkvist/Othmann. I'd still do it though.

Maybe looking to add some short term depth but certainly not looking for a top pair defenseman.

It's kind of like the Martin St. Louis acquisition. Granted Chychrun isn't forcing himself here and only here like MSL was, but when the opportunity comes up to add some serious young talent that would be here for this window and potentially the next one after that while locked into a good contract, it should be considered.

The Rangers are one of the few teams that have the assets and cap space to get it done. You don't turn down a chance to improve your team at a good price.

Drury will need to be creative, but there's room to add a center beyond this year too.

Indeed, I agree. I would just rather use those assets for a great need, which IMO is a center. We have some great young Dmen already and more in the pipeline.

How silly

“oh, there’s a top pairing defenseman available who is signed for cheap and in his prime, but no thanks” lmao
Yea because it's that simple lmao. You realize you have to bet against other teams and give the best offer to get a good player...right? So let's trade all our good chips away for something we really don't need and still ignore weaknesses on our team. Makes sense.

Defense wins championships.

Okay lol

you’re not trading all your best trade chips in a Chychurn deal. They’re speculating it’s going to be the equivalent of 3 1sts. The Rangers can make multiple deals like that and be fine. And banking on defensive prospects to pan out in the future when the team can win today is just ridiculous

you’d think Chychurn is 35 the way some people are talking about him

Kane is far from the first NHL player that gambles or has gambled . I'm sure there are lots of addicts . They had the money and many still crave the rush . I hate seeing Gretzky advertising for these gambling organizations...I have to wonder why ? Does he need the money ? It definitely takes from his image . I was wondering if he advertised for them previously when his Dad was still living ?

The problem is the rangers dont have the cap space to add a long term acquisition like that. The rangers have cap space this year, but next 2 years we'll be dealing with both kakko and laf/miller raises.
while none of those will likely be 8m+ deals, we dont want to be massively vulnerable to an offersheet.

The answer is to find a 3rd wheel for Panarin-Strome that isn’t Goodrow. Goodrow to center on the 3rd line with Lafreniere. Hunt, Gauthier, Chytil.

The team, and many teams, like pairings of guys to stick together. It’s clear they are:

Kreider-Zib
Panarin-Strome
Laf-Goodrow

Rotate from there.

Chychrun is a great player and there’s a deal to be made between the Rangers/Yotes, but I don’t think it’s the right move.

We have a surplus of young defenseman already and the Chychrun’s contract would make it much harder to keep Strome. If Arizona retains 50% im in, and I would pay a big price.
