Kane is a hot mess. Drury can't be that dumb. NY has too many places this guy can find trouble. Plus Kane is another LW. If it's 1 position they don't need its LW.

Did DeAngelo destroy the Canes locker room? It’s the same thing. Sure their issues are different but all along we’re told oh he’s took outspoken he can’t let the politics by and it was getting to the other players. In fact it’s worse as his issues involved other players and being loud in the room whereas Kane’s are mostly personal. If Kane can destroy a teams room then their room wasn’t any good to begin with. Not to mention he will likely sign a near minimum contract for a year so if he truly was becoming a problem you could just get rid of him with ease. I’m also almost certain the Sharks AHLers said he was great to have around (of course maybe these guys didn’t want to say anything bad to the media but they also didn’t have to give praise).
While DeAngelo is no Saint and has his baggage, it is nowhere near the unmitigated disaster that is Evander Kane. This guy has issues all around. Whether its accusations of gambling, personal issues with his ex-wife with ruthless accusations, following basic rules, or just the a-hole he is on the ice at times, there is a laundry list of them. Its too much. And Kane has been an issue in the room. It had been said in the offseason on sirius that a majority of the Sharks lockerroom did not want him back.

Again, this is wrong. Kane and Deangelo are nothing alike and politics isn't what made tony difficult in the locker.

No one in the Canes locker room hated DeAngelo as much as Reaves hates Kane. Canes also have a much stronger locker room at the moment.

Rangers just started fixing their room. Would be idiotic to blow it up now.

also not sure if same situation but as unvaccinated wouldn’t Kane be in the same boat as Kyrie Irving? It makes zero sense

Kreider - Zibanejad - Kakko
Panarin - Strome - Lafreniere
Chytil - Barron - Goodrow
Hunt - Rooney - Reaves
Is at least roll with this a few games when healthy before making a trade..... but that’s just me.
LaF and Chytil could even switch places here to see if that jump starts his offense?
Or if Laf looks like shit at RW.
I also think the way Barron and Goodrow cycle and work down low and around the net might give Laffy a bit more time/space to get shots off

The first three issues are irrelevant to me. Especially him being an asshole on the ice.

The last bit, the teammate issue is ALL I am concerned with.

That said, if the team is interested, and they do their due diligence by speaking with former teammates AND possibly future teammates and they bring him in, id have no issues with him wearing the NYR sweater.

Gambling issues are kind of a big deal for someone who can effect any game they want at any time.

You can't employ that person ever.

Also I am completely on board with making some deadline deals including rentals, going in a bit more if not “all in.”

But if they are dealing top assets I really hope they do so to acquire players who can be here a bit longer. Trading some mid picks and lower tier prospects for rentals is fine, but if they throw around Jones/Lundkvist or Othmann or something for a rental that would be disappointing.

The mob loves guys like that....... good thing if he comes here there’s nobody like that in the tri-state area.....

Going for Evander Kane just because he wouldn’t cost much of anything is like a millionaire going to goodwill to get some clothes. The Rangers are rich with assets and can afford to get someone without the “avoid me” warnings attached to them.

Big hell no to Evander Kane.

Laf & Kakko need to be in the top 6 for this team to reach its ceiling. Their ideal 4th line is Rooney-Goodrow-Reaves. That leaves the 3rd line as the one they really need to figure out. I think Barron can definitely be a piece there, but they need 2 outside forward additions to reshape that line. Chytil/Gauthier arent giving them enough, Gettinger has been more noticeable.

The Rangers need to acquire one of Hertl/Pavelski/Giroux, all 3 fit the teams needs perfectly, and then get another winger to fill out the group.

Kreider-Mika-Kakko
Panarin-Strome-Laf
Barron-Pavelski-Donskoi
Rooney-Goodrow-Reaves
Hunt

Side note, but goal aside I was very, very impressed with Isac Lundestrom's defensive game. I wonder if we could get him for Chytil?
