You can't equate this with a blacklist scenario and then say "if he had a clean sheet..." He doesn't. And he doesn't because of his own actions. He's a bad guy at best and a toxic at worst.

Blacklisting is what happened to Colin Kaepernick. Kane is not even close to being analogous.

And I'm sorry, but I won't weep for him going from making millions to making a million. Especially when his past actions are 100% on him.

Me neither, but giving him a second (fourth/fifth) chance would be to offer him 9m for 7 years. I bet nobody is even remotely considering that.

There are 32 teams in this league. He should have some value as a gamble for some teams. If nobody — despite that — signs him, he is blacklisted by my book.

At least we both agree we shouldn’t be one of those teams! ;)

Was watching the Canes-Panthers game last weekend and was just shocked watching their forwards just...bring the puck into the zone with speed, together in unison...use quick stickhandling and passes to get around the D and open up shooting lanes in the middle of the ice. It was really remarkable to see both teams doing this shift after shift vs watching the NYR.

The NYR collectively just suck at crossing the blue line with speed, with control of the puck, and then immediately looking to creatively work a 3 on 2 or 3 with a backchecker to get a shot on net in the middle of the ice. They are just terrible at it. When they get shut down at the blueline they dump it in and play perimeter hockey if they even manage to get the puck back.

Yeah, the Rangers play offense like a basketball team.

Tyler Toffoli at eliteprospects.com

since Gorts picked up Pitlick...seems like a glut of forwards..Gorts is selling who do we want and what does he want. I like toffoli becausa he a Italiano.

I think hes the type of player they need. Cup winning vet with a ton of playoff experience, position of need, consistent 20 goal scorer. They would probably need to move him again in the summer for cap purposes, but i don't think that would be difficult. Sign me up

Man, this trading Miller stuff is all fluff by Vince. This is honestly some of the most dumbass shit I've heard.

What is the point in trading him? His contract is up next season when all that dead buyout cap is gone. That will cover his raise.

There is no valid reason to trade him. Gallant loves him.

So he has a few turnovers on a West Coast trip. He's been an NHLer for what 350 days?

"But you have to give to get." No, you don't.

This fanbase to even think about it at times, that's some true dumb shit. Dumber than Joey Lawrence. Dumber than Forest Gump.

And Larry saying Gallant prefers Tinordi and Nemeth which he's used 6 out of 35 times this year.

Everything related to the Rangers has just been dumb the last 48 hours.

I love this team growing up but there are times as an adult when anything related to them, fans, NYC makes me want to drink and smoke.

I dont think its a coaching issue. Gallant is not perfect with his decision making, but no coach is.

The players don't shoot the puck or go to the net enough. I'm as bullish on the Rangers as anyone, but they wont improve 5 on 5 until they show they are willing to forgo the "perfect" or "pretty" plays they default to. How often do we see guys pass up golden opportunities for a drop pass to no one, or trying to wish a pass through 3 defenders sticks. Panarin & Fox have been the biggest culprits of this. When both guys are actively looking to shoot they are at their best because they keep the defense honest. They need to have a shooters mentality (Panarin admitted as much earlier this season), especially when the rest of the team defers to them for offense when they're on the ice

And not for nothing, its hard to compete with the rest of the league consistently when youre sitting on 8 million in cap space and your direct competitors are capped out, especially in a year where covid can knock any player out 10 minutes before puck drop. Another top 4 D & top 6 forward with that excess money would go a long way towards some of these issues being rectified, in my opinion. I am a Drury defender for the most part, but the team is incomplete and so far that failure is on him.

But it's the coach's job to get them playing the right way, he needs to be pushing this message. He's the guy seeing them do this night in and night out and letting it continue, it's his strategies that are enabling them to play this way.

To your point about needing to bring in some guys, I agree with you they have major holes that need to be filled, but if they are going to come here and just play the way the Rangers are playing right now it's not gonna make a difference. There's no player out there that is going to be inserted into the lineup and just make them a better 5v5 team. So many of those holes would be filled if former 2nd and 1st overall picks were playing at levels they should be - but that's another conversation.

There's a reason the Rangers are near the bottom of the league in xG/60. This is certainly part of it. I watch a lot of other teams and it's staggering how much different they look compared to the Rangers when it comes to attacking. I don't know how much of it is the system or personnel either because Vegas was a high shot generation team under Gallant.

That's because the Rangers' transition game is sh*t. Drives me nuts. Part of it has to do with the D not being good enough to get out of pressure, but it's more than that - watching the Panthers refusing to stop skating so they don't lose momentum (unless directly involved in a board battle) shows how far behind in hockey thinking the Rangers are. I don't think the Panthers have a more talented squad overall, but I like their approach where every player on the ice is constantly moving their feet, that's something the Rangers need to pick up.

Toffoli is sloooooooooooow. I don't see how people can complain about the Rangers being inefficient going forward and wanting to pick Toffoli. The team is desperate for more team speed.

Vince doesn't think the Rangers are in on Chychrun. Which sucks but not all that surprising.
Prob the right move considering our top 4 is basically set. Still more growth to see out of KAM.

I'd much prefer to hold on to KAM instead of trading him for a center and use other prospects (Lundkvist/Jones/Kravtsov) as ammo to acquire a center.

He's not untouchable but for me it would take a serious godfather offer to get him.

If he had a different job, he wouldn't be given the opportunity to settle for a million.

Again "blacklisted" is not the right term to use. If 32 teams felt he wasn't worth the gamble that would be 100% on him and it's a consequence of his actions. When someone is blacklisted it's being done to that person. If he couldn't find a job with an NHL team, he would have done it to himself. And if that's being blacklisted in your book, then your book is wrong.

Any word on Shesterkin and if he's back with the team?

Hope to see Panarin back in form tomorrow, he made some nice moves and was skating well with the puck on his stick but his decision making and passing especially was off the mark.

You know who would fill that need on MTL? Lehkonen. Watching Bruins/Habs and it’s obvious he’d really help us

I agree, he is good defensively and a very hard worker. He's been one of my top picks for TDL pickup for some time.

I’m not sure that it’s all fluff. Get the right return and Miller could be moved. Like the Million Dollar Man used to say, everyone has their price.

What if Buffalo offered Dylan Cozens?

Buffalo will have two #1 overall draft picks on defense. They just traded their 1C. Why are they trading their best center prospect for a defenseman?
