Oh I agree. I have said before, I am not sure how good Panarin and Strome are for this team. The PP is better with Z on the left circle, but the refuse to move Panarin. The top 2 lines play more direct without him in the lineup, but once he is back suddenly it is get it to Panarin and hope he makes something out of nothing. The team absolutely has a "defer to Panarin" mentality and he is too easy to stop by himself in tight checking games.

I will say, for as bad as we were against LA, Z looked like he was going straight ahead. He has been playing better and that is a good thing.

Imagine after years of failed big name free agent signings, the rangers finally get one in his prime, who performs above expectations and plays near a league MVP level, and now we consider him bad for this team. This fan base sometimes... I bet you if we got McDavid you'd complain he's too fast for his line mates to stay with him on the rush.

Yup, Ye Olde Eye Test didn't fail.

Maybe they meant 72 instead of 27.

Somewhat similar to Zibanejad showing signs of breaking out (when a lot of folks here were still shitting on him in their hot takes) Chytil has had a couple of pretty passable games. Still not as strong on the puck as we all want him to be and what he’d shown in spurts but he’s trending in the right direction IMO.

So happy for Schneider. 20 Year old kid from Saskatchewan getting called up to the big club. Hope he plays well. One fear about all of this. All the trade talks recently. I hope Schneider wasn't called up for the "Showcase" .

For Nils, i'm not soured on him at all. He's 21 years old with 25 NHL games under his belt. I think he's done just fine. Huge adjustment period.

don’t be surprised if he exceeds expectations here.
All Schneider has to do is keep it simple, use his body, and be hard on the puck. Hopefully they’ll pair him with Jones not Nemeth or Tinordi.
Playing behind/along side Trouba will be good for this kid.
My guess is the cost of physical D available on the market current that can skate is very high:
Drury seeing how our in house guy takes to 3rd pair before throwing assets away on a move

Gut feeling Jones and Schneider finish the year while one one if not both in separate deals Miller and Lundkvist get dealt for upgrade for playoffs someone signed beyond next year or RFA to be
This is they way it prob should have went since camp. That’s why I was a huge proponent of moving nils while his value was sky him and his offensive opportunity here would obviously be impacted.
Nils absolutely still has a bright future, but I doubt we’re in any position to truly benefit from him giving us his best assets.
I’ve been saying for months, he’s either switched to LD and makes 1 of them expendable or he’s likely traded.
That spot could have been given to any 1 of Jones/Lundkvist/Schneider from camp.
In this day in age in the nhl 3rd D pair has to be solid yet unremarkable, give you an honest 12 or so min a night, and hopefully contribute on the PK.
Fox will always get the brunt of PP 1 minutes, and trouba/Jones get the mop up time.
Your teams top 4 always no matter what are the money makers and minute eaters. They also always almost consist of a vet/rookie cheap pairing. In Lundkvist s case, he’s auditioning for a role that’s not going to be open.
Schneider hopefully has at least 2 years to grow into a Trouba replacement

If Halak can be obtained at a fair price, I’m all for acquiring him and moving Georgiev. Georgiev is almost certain to be gone next year and he has real value right now. Halak is better positioned to be a backup and he could be resigned next year.
Wondering what real value is. 2nd rounder? Too bad he couldn’t return a right wing or center depth.

It’s shocking, shocking I say, that Panarin-Strome need mucker to be effective. Defense starts in the O zone. Can’t have three weak forechecking turnover machines on the same line.

Can you afford two?

There’s a real lack of urgency from Chytil that has me very concerned.

I can’t help but feel like his time is up here. Barron and Goodrow represent better fits as 3C both now and moving forward with Gallant’s coaching style and I think they’ll use him as bait in a trade
Goodrow is much better on the 4th.

Kane going to Edmonton feels inevitable

They need all the help they can get, a guy who can score on the cheap is what they need.

he’s a garbage human being though and I would never want him on my team

Going after Evander Kane is something Glen Sather the GM would've pursued; he's gone after those guys before (Craig MacTavish in Edmonton). It wouldn't shock me if he put a bug in Chris Drury's ear. Not saying Drury would look into it; has likely done the due diligence and said no thanks (I base this on that no legitimate media person has linked Kane to the Rangers).

I don't see Kane as a fit for the Rangers or New York City. You have his issues, you should stay far away from NYC. It looks like he's signing elsewhere anyway, so it's a moot point.

Im hoping they don't abandon Lafreniere on the right side, he needs atleast 4 or 5 games to get used to it, the whole team was bad last night, Panarin just got back, i hope they give this some time or swap him and Kakko.

Goodrow is much better on the 4th.
You can dump Barron on 3C/3rd line without any insulation if you want him to be a nhl regular the rest of season+ playoffs.
You want him in a spot to succeed not fail. He needs a vet, likely Goodrow on his wing. Unless you're bringing another experienced 3rd line winger that can fill the same role and drop Goodrow to 4th line, but I don’t see it currently.
It would have been a lot better if Barron already had 10-12 games under his belt instead of dicking around with McKegg but that’s the past.
At least now hopefully they realize how much better suited he is in the role the rest of the way

Some major differences here. MacTavish had killed a woman drunk driving—had gone to prison and served his time. He made a big mistake—not a series of mistakes and was not known as a bad actor. If he were a bad actor the Oilers wouldn’t have put up with him. He wasn’t a star—he was a jack of all trades 3rd/4th liner. He’d also won multiple Cups.

Kane is a star at least when he wants to be. He wasn’t liked in Winnipeg or Buffalo or San Jose. He’s not a team guy. He’s basically a primadonna and any team that’s serious about him is going to pay a lot in cap hit. He’s never won anything.

It's crazy to me how some of you have Barron penciled in as a future 3C. I would love to be wrong, but the odds are that he has a better chance of being a Howden or worse.

Are those Vegas odds? he is so much stronger, has a much better shot, is bigger and is just harder to play against than Howden. Plus he has scored consistently in the A which is the best indicator of what comes next. Once comfortable, he will be a good one. 3C should certainly be expected of him if he can handle the defensive responsibilities, which we don't know yet.

Perhaps saying bad for the team is too harsh in the wording and paints a picture that he might be under performing. I think it is more nuanced then that. I guess I mean to say is that panarin needs the puck, and his teammates know that, but in trying to get him the puck to do all the work, they all simultaneously hamstrings their skills and eroding confidence in their individual abilities to make a difference in the game.

In a sense Panarin makes us better, but the team needs to know they don't need him to be good, even when he is in the lineup.

Could be a player. 2nd rounder could be flipped for a player. Plenty of possibilities.

Im not in favor of trading Georgiev in season, but if he keeps playing this well, they may have to consider taking advantage of a desperate team.

Realistically we aren’t going anywhere in the playoffs if Igor gets hurt
