So, when Strome is due to be paid (soon), what it will be like? We couldn't afford Buch who's on 5.8 now, how do we handle Strome? Will he fit?

He’s probably going to get at minimum 6 per a year unless he cuts us a break and we offer him more years for a lower salary

They’re gonna have move out Georgiev, Chytil and maybe Nemeth, and hope Kakko doesn’t ask for the moon

He needs starts to not suck. He's not going to get them unless Shesty is injured. Plus, he wants to go somewhere he can be a starter.

Edit: Halak's numbers aren't garbage either.

Alex will I would think be moved in the summer. Halak will be 37 next year. Neither one is more than a one year solution to the backup goalie issue.

Re Kane

You can say “it doesn’t matter” for the ice stuff bc I’m sure guys don’t really care about his divorce proceeding and financial issues. But they’ll absolutely care that he’s been an asshole everywhere he’s played and was essentially kicked out by fellow teammates In SJ and WPG.

Players will ignore what they can ignore. Off the ice stuff. You disrupt the locker room and constantly cause issues and make them deal with it in their face and they absolutely care.

Kane is a LW which they don’t need and if they won last night they would have the most points in the league

No Panic yet lol

Kane can play center and was drafted as a center. He has center experience. He isn't just a winger.

One of our prospects needs to step up.

Garand is the best I’d say but he turns pro next year and what is best for him is he spends at least most of the year in Hartford. A 20 year old goalie needs to see shots. He needs to play. Kinkaid’s contract runs out and he’ll be 33. Huska or Wall might be alright as backups and they might not.

Good veteran backup goalies don’t usually come super cheap.

I liked what Wall displayed in preseason. Huska needs a fair look, which will probably come in camp next year and AHL stats this year. Let's hope he is the answer. I can see them filling backup G with an ELC deal.

The LAK game, for the umpteenth time, drove home the point that Panarin and Strome must have a defensively reliable RW to help cover the defensive frailties of P & S (especially when both are in floaty mode). Even then the duo is not ideal against hardworking teams that take away space and time.

So, basically, will be bad in the playoffs vs anyone?

I thought Lafreniere played really well on that line.

we’re a maddeningly slow team at forward with mediocre to bad mobility/poise on the backend.

we’re still very young, but that’s only a positive in that it speaks to potential which can always go unrealized. Lundkvist could turn into a big difference maker, as could miller. And of course Kakko and Lafreniere have yet to really arrive.

it’s hard to look at the makeup of this roster and say where our strengths lie and how we can better leverage them, though.

most teams in the league do one of two things:
1) load up a top line that can dominate and fill out the rest with a mixed bag.
2) spread their talent across basically all four lines.

we don’t really do either, and I think the middling results (not the record, obviously), speak to that. It sucks, but we probably resemble the Canucks more than any other team in the league right now.

I’d like to see the Rangers either load up with a top line of Zibanejad-Kreider-Panarin or else separate Zibanejad, Panarin, and Strome into three separate lines.

Neither are severe enough. Evidently.

They've been bad the past two years once the playoff/bubble teams buckle down on defense towards the end of the season. I don't see why it would change now. This team has an ugly problem of just standing around hoping Panarin can thread a pass through multiple players and that gets harder to do as the season progresses and the teams start to play better defense. That's the only form of offense our top two lines have and unfortunately there is only one Panarin. So one line is playing Panarin hockey with no Panarin. Luckily, we've gotten enough points to at least see what these two duos can do in the playoffs. It will be a good assessment period for the front office.

Nils must be disappointed, but this is without a doubt the right move for him. Would have liked to see him play with someone other than Nemeth.

Did Schneider play with Jones in HFD?
