I’d keep Strome over hertl. The guy that is pissing this away his Chytil. A breakout season from him and the Rangers probably walk away from Strome. It’s not happening and they’re going to be forced to make that decision.
that could lead to Chytil being moved for cap space. Goodrow or Barron sliding in as 3C next year.
the other name I liked on that list was nick Leddy. Just a good skater good playoff guy
I would agree generally although I don’t think there’s anyway they would go into next season with Chytil as 2C. If he was lighting it up this season, I could see that being realistic but they are a legit contender this year, they can’t let Strome go or not bring in another 2C type. Way too much unknown with Chytil to do that. That's why I'm leaning towards the boat of giving Chytil the 2C.. he's cost controlled, he's only 22 and he's shown plenty of flashes of skill that would make you think if this kid is playing 17 minutes a night he can fill the role.. its gonna be a numbers game going foward they're gonna have to balance filling out their roster with the cap.
Absolutely possible.. my angle would be that if you pace out Chytils season last year thats his breakout season... obviously who knows if he actually hits that 40 mark but that seems to be a bit of general arbitrary number to suggest theyre ready for a larger role... we saw it with Brassard and Hayes, but to be fair maybe they had a little better line mates. How would Chytil be with Zuccarello? Just what's ifs.. but certainly if this was Chytils only year its fair to say not a whole lot to suggest he should get a larger role but I'd think about given his overall career so far, tricky little situation hereI would agree generally although I don’t think there’s anyway they would go into next season with Chytil as 2C. I think you’ll see Chytil traded, Georgiev will be traded. They’ll try and get Strome to give them a break on a number, or go after someone else. Could see them paying someone to take Nemeth off their hands
if desperate enough I could see them fielding offers on Kreider
All I’m saying is if one of them weren’t available for our Captain and Jt Miller, then McDonagh shouldn’t have been available.
Did you see KM take it end to end and roof it earlier this year? KM has all the tools. Size speed skill. Just needs a touch more physical and a touch more mean streak Hopefully he reaches his potential. I would not trade him for anything but a franchise center. He’s going to be excellent. He’s a very nice young defenseman, but he hasn’t shown the ability to be anywhere near Hedman. This board overhypes the heck out of KAM. To me, his high end is support defenseman for Fox, and his downside is solid 2nd pair defenseman. I haven’t seen the flashes of elite offensive ability. I haven’t seen a heavy physical game. I have seen solid defense and promise in other areas. I doubt he’s ever better than a Trouba for example. I like the player but too many people talk about him as if he’s a young Chara.

They had no move him within a year and a half. The Rangers, facing at least a few years out of playoff contention, couldn't sign a 29-year old with lots of mileage on his body to a 7 year contract. The benefit of the early years wouldn't outdo the risk of the later years. Obviously it was worth it for Tampa, who were at a different stage.IIRC McD had a naging injury atm that was affecting his game. Who knows what advice the team doctors were giving management. Also, the room was stagnant and he was Captain yet a likable guy. They couldn't strip him of the C. I'm wondering of MGMT felt pigeonholed into no other choice and Yzerman knew it and maybe his doctors, of they were involved had a different opinon.
Like most subjects on HF, I think he falls somewhere in between the two extremes viewpoints, and is somewhere in between an AHL defenseman and a Norris candidate.I think KM has been playing very well.

i doubt a pavelski would cost that. other than that some of the names kicked around have been big names, so if youre trading for a big name long term you are paying. it is relative. as I said I will reserve to see what the actual cost is for a player we want, I am not going to blanketly say no to everyone like you did.Based on the names im seeing here im saying no…. Kravtsov, Nils, etc.
very very foolish of use to not get Barron in a couple of games this season yet.... for various reasons.
There’s absolutely no excuse with some of the injuries/covid we had already.
Philly is certainly not going to trade Giroux here lolFriedman saying he bets Giroux gets dealt. Throw him in the basket of Hertl/Pavelski. Gotta get one of the 3 imo

The Rangers could have traded him the following off-season or deadline, and it's reasonable to ask if they should have. But the angle suggesting they should have kept him if the likes of Brayden Point weren't available is maddening.
I’ve already forgotten who Tampa’s back up goalie the past two years were.I wouldn’t deal Georgiev now. We’ve seen in past years teams need 2 capable goalies in the playoffs. If he continues his strong play, the rangers will get a good return for him at the draft and he gets to sign a nice contract as a starter somewhere else. Everyone wins.
