Can we somehow take advantage of Gorton and the Habs? Do they have any players of interest? Seems like they are willing to retain a lot of salary in potential deals.

Krieder was making impacts the first full year he was here. He had more goals in his first 2 full seasons that Chytil has had in his entire career. What does Chytil bring in terms of skill? He lacks vision and scoring touch. he is also a minus 27 for his career while a guy like Kreider has always been a plus player. Chytil has no tools and no toolbox. These comparisons are way off.
Chytil has a unique blend of size and skill but he has no vision, IQ, battle (toolbox). It was not a direct comparison to Kreider who has obviously been the superior player every step of the way.

If Chytil were playing wing, he would be fine. His offensive game would be simpler which would match his game and he would find himself in better scoring spots because a true center would be able to create a bit for him. Honestly, I'd like to see Kreider-Zibanejad-Chytil

If the team has closed the door on Kravtsov I'd look long term at Chytil on RW.

He's proven it throughout his time here, it's not a question at all.
He did well when Panarin took a leave last season. I don't think I've seen enough of him without Panarin to conclude that he produces at nearly the same rate over an entire season. Now put him on a line with the guys Chytil has been playing with and test that idea further.
Now, I'm not stating that Chytil would duplicate what Strome has if he played with Panarin, but I wouldn't mind testing it for a bit.

No they can not just leave him on LTIR if he is healthy. The league and NHLPA would not allow it. They already said they looked into that with Kucherov before his playoff return.
Bu thow much cap space do they need if he only plays a month month and a half? They don't need to fit his whole salary, just what he earns for the games he's active.

Chytil isn't that guy no matter how much people want him to be. Barron has a better chance than him.

Only playerd I'd be interested in are Gallager and Suzuki. Neither are getting moved and both have long term, high dollar deals. Although I guess a case could be made that if we could aquire Suzuki then you make room for his contract, although, IMO you don't run Zibanejad and Suzuki as 1 and 2 unless you have seriously sizable/ornery wings and D to insulate them in the post season crunch.

I don’t know about taking advantage of JG (we’re the ones who should be careful) but would love to check in on Chairot. Maybe there’s some prospect that JG loves that we wouldnt miss that much like Edstrom

Gallagher was reported saying he may not want to stay if they go full rebuild. If Montreal retain som of his salary? He plays the right way..

I actually like Edstrom.

it’s a shame so many of his additions are either core players or busts with no middle ground.

I’m so f***ing angry right now because I just wrote an essay on here and it disappeared. So here goes again: Why not Claude Giroux as a deadline target? Ufa after the year, NMC so he controls where he goes. Does he want to stay on a Philly team that’s stuck in mediocrity? He can accept a trade here, sign a team friendly extension and go for a cup while his career slows down. He wouldn’t have to relocate his family. The Rangers should be a playoff team for the next several seasons.

It would be a ballsy move by Drury but I get the feeling Dolan wants to win sooner rather than later. The Rangers kids need longer than expected time to develop. Why not throw Giroux in there, maybe throw him on the Strome Panarin line, the Hunt experiment needs to die already anyway. Giroux adds needed top 6 scoring, leadership, and insulates the kids at the same time. Now I get it the Rangers have more issues too, third pair d help, etc. I would love @Edge thoughts on this idea.

I mean i dont hate it at all. Hes the type of player we should be looking at, just a younger version lol. But to me alot of it would depend on what we would be giving up.

He's also $6.5m till 2026/27 season.

I agree. Perfect player for us. I dont see a fit with that salary and term.

Al least Suzuki is a position of need at center and very young. Gallager would be a luxury at wing.
