only it wasn’t a demotion. He was injured and didn’t require waivers. So the logical move was to send him on a 2-week conditioning stint to get him back on the top of his game from a short camp, and get called up and go from there.

Whatever you want to call it. Kravtsov didn’t handle it right.

Neither did Drury though.

I don't believe that for a second.

If hajek just wasn't on the roster...and everyone else was exactly the same...I bet you anything kravtsov makes the team.

With that said I don't really have as big of an issue with the way things played out as many ppl here so.
Actually, the way the season has gone for Hajek (no games at all until Tinordi all but played himself out of the rotation and Lundkvist started having health issues) would put more support to the explicitly stated assertion that Hajek and Kravtsov were unrelated. And I’m saying it even though as you know I had also been convinced that it was related.

Bingo. Rangers went into the season with 8 defensemen, which they never do. The only reason they did, is because Drury didn't want to lose Hájek for nothing. They sent him to Hartford on a conditioning stint to avoid that from happening.

If Hájek isn't on the roster, they carry 14 forwards instead.

We’ve been over Drury’s options a million times. He could have cut Hajek and kept Kravtsov on the active roster. He could have played Chytil with Kreider and Kravtsov with Zibanejad. He could have kept Kravtsov on the fourth line even though it didn’t fit. All kinds of things that might not have been their ideal plan but still better than telling him to accept the demotion or f*** off.

All of this is nonsense. Why wouldn't Kravtsov accept the AHL conditioning assignement? It wasn't the end of the world.

Ok, can we end Kravtsov discussion here and whoever wants still regurgitate whatever side they are on - keep it in dedicated Kravtsov thread please.

Both PGT and RBT are poison today.

I mean not really. Actions speak louder then words. I’m sure his agent and probably his family has told him keep your mouth shut and don’t do anything to further damage your trade value.
Abandoned team twice. The first time removing every ranger item off his Facebook/Instagram,
Both times he’s thought the AHL is beneath his talent level. Basically saying there’s nothing he can learn down there. Essentially it’s beneath him. He thinks.
He publicly asked for a trade. Even going to the point saying he’ll go to another AHL team, just not Hartford. Again which he has no choice likely.
Not many teams trading for a guy that fled the team that drafted him twice, if going to be promised top 6/9 minutes without showing he can earn it for a little in the A imo.
It seems your looking for any possibility people can be wrong about Kravtsovs Maturity issues but your denying that his actions since being drafted don’t speak just as loud or louder then any false words he might say to a talking head in an interview. A bit Weird honestly.

None of what you have said has been proven to be true though, everyone here is just regurgitating whats been already said by this board and what Ranger PR has put out there. Not one person here knows the story including me, so to label the kid as the problem isnt right, we don't know.

It’s not about shaking up the roster (which I don’t think this team need). It’s about taking a step back and look where your team is — which can be done after a long stretch of gathering assets — and then send it in the right direction.

My take of this team is this. No team will be perfect. No team will look pretty for 60 minutes a night 82 games a year. We have to live with some flaws on the roster.

But I do think the flaw we have in terms of lack of quickness and speed at center ice, is costly. I would also like to see another real ‘weapon’ offensively on the blueline. This is also against the background of an expectation that Ziba and Panarin will slow down eventually. Getting that real speedy threat at center ice is just important.

If that is the conclusion you come to, there will never be any short cuts. There aren’t many players that fits that mold to start with. Newhook is one. What would it take to get Newhook? It’s going to be names like Laf or Shesty or Miller. Lundkvist won’t get us that center.

So I don’t mind playing out this season with what we got. I don’t think we need a shake up, more the opposite. But which team are we going to be the coming 5-10 years? I didn’t know about Bryam’s latest concussion problems, but in theory, getting Newhook and Bryam could move us from being like a version of one of those good SJ teams to more of a Tampa prime team.
How many teams in this league are trying to find stability in net? How many of those teams have been looking for stability and net for multiple years? We have been insanely spoiled by the fact that for two decades we've known who are starting Goalie is without question, and for the most part those guys have been elite options. It would be absolutely stupid to take that for granted and turn yourself into the flyers where looking for somebody that can step up and actually stop a puck for about two decades. Or do you want to be the sharks, or the coyote, or the red ones, or the devil's, or the senators, or any number of other teams that have constantly been trying to find consistency in their net. We have that, and he's locked up to a sweetheart contracts for what he provides. I can appreciate eating the trade something that's going to hurt to help fill the holes in this roster, but trying to open up a gaping hole on this roster by trying to fill another one is a huge mistake. How many games this year we actually been saved by Igor? I don't care who you bring has your upgrade and center, they would not have as much of a net positive to the team is what Igor is being able to do here. If you want to trade another big name can go for it, but trading Igor is beyond foolish

People need to get over kravtsov. Both sides have made mistakes. The bottom line is this team can use the guy so if you want to come back embrace it and move forward. You want to keep dwelling on stuff then you're not going to get anywhere. And to that end if you get a trade offer that's going to help your team then do it. Right now his value is not good and anybody that tries to argue otherwise is kind of being silly. Right now he's essentially an NHL unproven European player with a supremely high ceiling. Sure that has value, but not as much as what some people want to believe it does. The best thing for him and for this organization is for him to come back this year and play hockey games in the NHL. He can either prove his worth to this organization going forward or he can prove his worth to other teams to help facilitate a trade that's beneficial for both. Holding grudges is going to do nothing good for anybody...

Kravtsov expected a top-6 role because Drury traded away Buchnevich. Without that trade happening, it's a different story.
I mean that's flawed, literally at the first day of training camp they identified three left wingers that they wanted to get into the top six and they shifted two of them over to the right wing to see if either could stick there. He was expecting a top nine role, not a top six one and if he did that's his own fault

4th line wasn’t even an option. We’ve seen enough of that under Quinn. He obviously has a top 9 skillset.
But the coach and the GM aren’t going to placate a fragile 21 yr old with a bad attitude and not put the best team on the ice or lose a player they didn’t want to at the time.( for whatever reason) even if I don’t agree with it.
It would make no sense to keep him on the roster and scratch him. That basically does the opposite of having him play minutes and get into top form.
Like I said, this decision is at least %90-10 kravy-Drury as far as blame goes.
I highly doubt anyone saw him running home again over a 2-week AHL conditioning assignment.
They have to make decisions that are good for the team as a whole, not worry about hurt feelings and temper tantrums from professional athletes.
It’s not as if Kravy did anything in his past to even give him the benefit of a doubt.
His prior history was leaving because he was assigned to the AHL.

perfect. But some will still whine about Hajek

Have you even been to Hartford?

Players who can earn 200k elsewhere, aren't playing in the AHL for 70k.

The Russians who actually are playing in the AHL were on junior deals in Russia. Can't really compare that to Kravtsov.

Golyshev asked for his contract to be terminated because he can earn more in Russia and didn't see a future with the Isles. Same thing. Kravtsov didn't see a future in NY with the way he was treated. Whether or not that's the correct assessment can be discussed but that's what his reasoning was.

Oh for sure. I agree with all of this and have since the beginning. But have you ever been to Hartford.

You know nothing of the Kravtsov situation yet you keep making assumptions....nobody here knows what happened....nobody. Secondly we are sitting on enough cap space for Buch and as long as you didnt give him nmc you could move him whenever you wanted for atleast as much as they got for him and Spoiler alert, Blais isnt signed past this year so we are probably only ending up with a 2nd.

You also know nothing of the situation yet it is YOU who is making assumptions and blaming Drury. All we do know is that he was asked to go down and HE refused, went back to Russia and requested a trade. I have said many times both sides share in the blame but the ultimate decision to go home and not report was the players. We could have kept Buch this year but maybe he wanted cap space for another move that didn't materialize. Who knows? Bottom line is he wasn't being signed long term for 6 mil and we can easily sign Blais for something like 2 mil per especially coming off the injury.

usually no one wants to really go to the AHL. Especially players that do well in foreign leagues. Financially, it’s not even close.
You report because your dream is to play in the NHL. The best league in the world against the most talented players. If you trust your skills, the money will certainly come. Which makes Kravtsov a decision even more stupid.
He comes from a wealthy family, it’s not like he has a family to support.
If he really wants to make a statement and get to the NHL, Hartford for a season or 2 wouldn’t have put him in the poor house.

Let's not make this about that city. There are way worse... in the NHL even. Detroit takes the shit cake.

Hartford isn't great but Kravtsov wanted to go back home and play for a real team. It wasn't because our AHL team wasn't in Charleston or Austin or something.

Also, Kravtsov stated he has no objection to playing in the AHL, he just didn't want to play in the Rangers organization anymore after what happened.

Detroit is way better than Hartford.
No. No it isn't. I've been to both many many MANY times.

Detroit... even the "nice" areas have mansions that are abandoned and condemned right next to ones that are still worth millions.

Hartford is a shit hole but Detroit is like going to a city that was nuked 3 decades ago and no one cares.
