Panarin & Fox are outliers. They have earned the right to play the way they want. Panarin has strung a few bad games in a row (and should probably shoot a tick more), but both guys are scoring at above PPG pace.

The issue is that Zibanejad/Kakko/Laf/Chytil types are never in a position to shoot, let alone shoot quickly. How often do they pass up slot shots to pass into thin air or opposing sticks. And dont tell me Buch/Kravtsov would change anything...these problems would be worse if they were here.

For the perimeter/finesse players to be effective, they need to establish an attack first. If all we do is stay on the wall, we're easy to defend.

How close are Cuylle/Berard/Othmann realistically? Because they seem like players who fit the mold you described. Support players who get in on the forecheck and live around the net

Christian Dvorak scored 12 points in 27 games and now is out indefinitely with an injury. Too bad we missed out on trading for this player.

good let them marinate away from here. We have enough young players who are learning on the go at this level. Let the likes of Berard and Cuylle come here when they are 21 years old and older.

What has he done? 10 of his 15 points in the AHL are on the PP. Nothing wrong with that but he would not be getting that opportunity here. Take that out and his offensive numbers don't look super impressive. I haven't watched Hartford play so I'm not sure how he's been in general but they certainly don't need someone whose best skill is the PP right now.

Patrick Kane is my blockbuster get. Also, when is Jones getting a look? He was solid in 10 games last year out of UMass. What are they waiting for? Hajek and Nemeth is literally blindingly bad. I can't watch it. Neither picked up Mikko's stick last night on that goal. No idea how either of them play over Jones, a natural puck mover and solid talent.

He's going to get dealt. Trouba and Lundkvist run PP2, and that unit is lucky to get some mins as is due to PP1's longevity and skill level.

Most of my gripe with the team's poor performances this year has revolved around the transition game and the ability of the defense to move the puck up the ice while under pressure.

In short, I want one good puck mover on each defensive pair at minimum. I think Jones can provide that, and a boost to our 2nd PP unit.

That said unless Nils starts killing penalties, that would be a tough fit.

I really don't mind that Panarin-Strome works better with a grinder. It just needs to be a higher end grinder like Hyman or Bunting. No need to shit on Panarin for that any more than anyone should be shitting on McDavid/Matthews.

They struggle getting the puck out of their own zone, and we've seen Jones able to make a good first pass. If youre worried about their size (im not anymore) you can split up Trouba-Miller.

They struggle getting the puck out of their own zone, and we've seen Jones able to make a good first pass. If youre worried about their size (im not anymore) you can split up Trouba-Miller.

Gallant doesn't use Nemeth like he's about to be replaced. Regular on the PK and when the bench is shortened defending a lead, he slides into K'Andre's spot next to Trouba. Can't see him taking him out for a wee rookie.

Fair. I think Nemeth is generally fine when paired with Lundkvist (who is looking more and more like a solid defensive defenseman) but the alternatives cant be Hajek/Tinordi for a playoff team.

Crouse would be good from AZ but he's LW . Wish Laf could play RW

Hopefully Panarin gets Mika going, Chytil has less defensive responsibility on wing and can play a simple game with those guys. Just skate fast and forecheck, bang in rebounds. Laf & Gauthier get a proper two way center

Panarin and Chytil on a line? Panarin has never passed the puck to Chytil. They hate each other. Might as well trade Chytil for Blackwell.

Yes, he’s still putting up his point during his overall lackluster play, but he’s paid to fill the net.
i def let strome walk and if need be pair panarin with Zibby. Strome /Zibby play a similar style

Yeah I don't know what the fear is of just rolling with the kids. Nemeth is disgustingly bland and Hajek and Tinordi stink. Send them both down to Hartford already and scratch Nemeth, he can collect his money from the press box.

Play Jones and Lundkvist together.

There is no need to worry about size. Trouba has brought enough of that, this is the third pair and they see the least minutes anyway. Not like Nemeth is using his "size," to do anything.

Nemeth-Lundkvist is kind of shoring up into a lite version of Staal-Stralman when they were a very effective defensive unit.

It's a shame Nils got sick and missed games when he did, he was starting to play pretty well.
