Sometimes the team does dumb things. Since Drury took over it's becoming more and more frequent.

So yeah, I get that the team is going to do dumb things. Arguing "it won't happen," isn't an argument against why it should happen. It's not like "since the team won't do it," we must be wrong. No, the team is wrong.

How close are Cuylle/Berard/Othmann realistically? Because they seem like players who fit the mold you described. Support players who get in on the forecheck and live around the net

Going by our track record, it's folly to rely on the kids. It has not gone well at forward.

All the money in the world and somehow we siphon out all of the offensive ability from our forwards... it's so demoralizing....

Nemeth-Lundkvist is kind of shoring up into a lite version of Staal-Stralman when they were a very effective defensive unit.

It's a shame Nils got sick and missed games when he did, he was starting to play pretty well.

Honestly, I could actually see Nils taking quite a big step in the coming year/year and a half. He is settling in well in the NHL. He got -- a lot -- more poise with the puck in him than he is showing right now. He get to see Fox night in and night out. But one thing. So much is made of how smart Adam Fox is. Because he isn't physically super talented. However, I think the way he has fine tuned, in lack of a better expression, his raw skill also is amazing. He is so good at turning away defenders with top notch edge work. He buy himself time in so many ways. Someone like Nils can definitely copy a lot of that, but it takes time. Its not something you do in a month. Give Nils an off season, when he comes into Camp next season -- I definitely would be surprised if he wasn't a lot better than he is right now. Give him another year to that that, and I also think he will be ever more poised and will have improved his ability to control the play better.

He's been noticeably bad on the right side these past two games. He's been mostly fine playing the left side. His minutes took a nosedive too, so even the coaches don't seem to trust him on his off-side.

Trouba having more goals then Zibby right now is a large part of the problem.
Yes, he’s still putting up his point during his overall lackluster play, but he’s paid to fill the net.
i def let strome walk and if need be pair panarin with Zibby. Strome /Zibby play a similar style

Well if the Hit #'s for the season so far in the Yote game day thread for Laf at 46 --Chytil at 7 and KK at 3 are correct....then there is another part of the problem . The latter two are simply too soft .

That is a putrid amount for two guys their size and speed . If they were scoring at a much higher pace then they could be forgiven for those low amounts if the numbers jive . However.....they are not scoring and by the looks of that , not hitting either , but rather just taking up ice time with nothing to show for it in most games most nights . That can't remain like that for this team going forward . They HAVE to be much more involved over the course of a 60 minute game . We have to play a more team tough uptempo game on a more consistent basis . Softness is creeping back..... Kreider and Gauthier also should be hitting more considering how big and fast they are ....especially since neither could shoot the puck into an ocean without being 1.5 feet in front of it .

Chychrun is a terrific player. He was a top ten defenseman in the league last year. Hard not to suck in the middle of this dumpster fire.

I'm sure listening but frankly the Rangers and Yotes don't match up well in a trade. It doesn't address the long- or short-term center issue and it sucks up a lot of the assets we would need to make that kind of move.

yea no doubt our 3rd line is a bit in a crisis of identity. They don’t out work, our hustle or out hit other teams bottom 6.
I’ve been saying chytils days are numbered here for a while. He just can’t find consistent production here.
I think you’ll see Barron added next season, along with keeping goodrow in the bottom 6 where he belongs.
Our 4th line has probably been our most consistent bright spot on The season, which is a bit sad tbh.
But Zibby has been a top 5-8 goal scoring fwd in the league the last few years. He’s wanted to be paid like one, fine we did. But this is what I was worried about. They are paying him for what he has done prior, not what he’ll do.
We’ve all seen a shift in his game away from physicality and a lot of dirty areas on the ice. He tries to mimic panarin with tic tac toe passing plays, but he’s paid to fill the net. That’s job 1 for him here.
When he’s not scoring the other deficiencies in his style become glaring

Christian Dvorak scored 12 points in 27 games and now is out indefinitely with an injury. Too bad we missed out on trading for this player.

There's still time to make up for this with a Mark Jankowski acquisition.

Panarin has a top 6 spot locked up for the next 4 to 5 years. As does Kreider if he doesn't exercise his NMC. The latter brings a skill set that no one else on the team has.

Trading Lafreniere for Chychrun and then turning around and dealing Miller for a 2C would be a 4D chess move that could make the Rangers true Cup contenders this year and beyond.

For as young as and for as much potential Lafreniere and Miller both have, the Rangers are unquestionably a better team with Chychrun and a mid 20's 2C this year and well beyond.

Yeah I mean basically you are giving Chychrun the raise you are committing to Lafreniere or Kakko, except Chychrun will actually be making less. Comes in and is best LHD on the roster and you still have flexibility to move other D. So it’s a win now move, an upgrade AND a cap move all at once.

I couldn’t possibly care less about a 30 year old winger with a career high of like 25 goals.

I don’t care who will replace him. I’m not winning a Cup with that player as a centerpiece. Kreider had his chance to be a star, instead he’s basically a competent second line winger. Practically dime a dozen and like the 7th best forward on a Cup winner.

I’m keeping the player who might be a centerpiece one day.
