I’ve always thought “balancing the lines” is overrated. When Mika was going, having a line of Panarin-Mika-Kreider would be like having a powerplay for 20+ mins per night.

This team could lead the league in shot attempts, if they actually took them, considering the amount of time they skate around the boards waiting for the perfect pass. They have shifts every game where they have the puck in the OZ for 2 minutes and get nothing on net. They will never reach their ceiling until Gallant gets that habit out of their game

Not a lot I wouldn't give up for Chychrun. Am I crazy to think Miller + Chytil + Cuylle+ 1st gets it done?

Add Kravtsov instead of Cuylle.

Balancing the lines imo is only for when you have limited offensive options, we should be able to ice 6 guys in our top 6 that can score.

They don't want to get dirty until they have to. Case in point last night, why wait until 3 mins left to take shots from the point and jam the net? Nothing else was working.

I am circling back to the fact that I am on board with trading Kreider this off-season if the opportunity presents itself and the return is decent.

Even with the team struggles, I am also onboard with signing Strome to a deal just over $5m per season at 6 years. Similar to Danault. The key is going to be not having a NMC for me though. That's a very easily traded contract if the clauses are reasonable, especially when the cap goes up and that ~$5.125m drop from just over 6.1-6.2% of the cap to something like 5-5.5%. That's in line with a good middle-6 scorer.

we need players that ATTACK and/or SHOOT.

For the perimeter/finesse players to be effective, they need to establish an attack first. If all we do is stay on the wall, we're easy to defend.

We have other pieces to trade for him, we dont have to offer our best forward prospect, we appear to have too many dmen so maybe make the deal around those players.

It’s going to be very competitive. Lafreniere has not justified being untouchable and his inclusion puts the Rangers top of the line. Also who cares if Lafreniere is a hit in Arizona. That’s never going to come back to haunt the Rangers

Chytil, for me, is the guy to go. Lots of talent, lots of sizzle when he is on. But he doesn't fit with practically anyone you put him with and he could be used as a main piece to bring in someone who can help both now and in the future. I do not think he will be an effective center in this league.

They were bad last season and he was one of the best D-men in the league then. His value is far from the highest that it was last season.

I’m not worried about Zibanejad yet. I don’t think he’ll ever score 40 in 55 again, but I also don’t think the last 25 games are his new normal. Willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. The fact that he’s playing 10-15 pounds lighter than the past few years might be an indication something is ailing him.

Panarin & Fox are outliers. They have earned the right to play the way they want. Panarin has strung a few bad games in a row (and should probably shoot a tick more), but both guys are scoring at above PPG pace.

The issue is that Zibanejad/Kakko/Laf/Chytil types are never in a position to shoot, let alone shoot quickly. How often do they pass up slot shots to pass into thin air or opposing sticks. And dont tell me Buch/Kravtsov would change anything...these problems would be worse if they were here.

its hard to find a grinder with talent that fits as a UFA no?..............alot of guys play LW and not RW for example.

Crouse would be good from AZ but he's LW . Wish Laf could play RW
