We’re going to have about 10M in space this summer with;

UFA’s
Strome
Rooney

RFA’s
Kakko
Blais
Gauthier
Georgiev

Horvat has 2 years left at 5.5M. He’ll be 28 when his contract expires. What’s it going to cost us to extend him? 7x7?

Where’s that money coming from? We can move on from Geo, maybe move Nemeth. That frees up about 4.9M. Say 3M with bodies to replace them.

Unless Trouba or Kreider are moved this or next year, I don’t see how we can fit Horvat in longterm.

Anyone concerned we haven't called up a goalie from Hartford? Gallant clearly doesn't trust Georgiev and yet he's doing nothing about it.
Not concerned, amused as in a watching 2 trains hurtling towards one another on the same track. Hopefully Drury is working the phones trying to get some asset back

How about for Thanksgiving we all name one player we’re most thankful for.

I’ll start and name four: Lindgren and Panarin, followed by Fox and Zib.

Try to find a single negative post from me about Laf. You're bunching me up with other people, so maybe you should get it straight before you start bitching.

And Reaves not a fighter?? are you f***ing kidding me? What sport are you watching?
Ryan Reaves
I didn’t say he can’t fight. I said he doesn’t fight often. So expecting him to drop the gloves all the time is an unrealistic expectation. He’s an absolute heavy weight when he does.

Most thankful? Foxy. Kid forced his way here and is becoming a legitimate top 5 player in the world. I’ll never be convinced that Hedman or Makar are better all around. You just don’t get this kind of lucky, so I’m thankful for Foxy.

Love me some Lindgren though. Fox is the Turkey. No thanksgiving without him. Lindgren is the stuffing. Might like it better than the turkey, but if there’s no turkey, there’s no stuffing.

Not all the time. Just when one of our players gets concussed. Nothing important or anything.

If you go in and get Horvat, your 100% moving 1 of trouba or kreider when their nMC switches to MNTC.
The contract seems to coincide with that, and there will be needed cap for a raise. We also have no clue how much the cap can go up at that time.
I’d wager Drury inquires, but if the price is too steep he’s not gonna pay it.
The next wave of secondary scoring coming on ELC deals in the form of Barron, Berard, Cuylle, Othmann, Schneider all have talent, but all play an abrasive physical game as well.
The key is LaF and kakko keep developing into the players we know they can be. The rest will fall into place.

I don’t recall him being on the ice with Pageau at any point after that hit. Tough to fight someone when you can’t get to them. Let’s see how Sunday goes when we have last change and Trotz can’t protect him the entire game.

Also, you were right. You aren’t a part of the Laf group. My bad.

Reaves cannot fight midgets !!! That is where teammates have to have each others backs . It has to be a pack mentality . Reaves not fighting every night has actually been the best thing for this club...it allows for guys to take the needed steps to grow balls and do what Laf does to Pageau . It will strengthen team character faster when that happens . Plus make no mistake about it....if Ross Johnston was healthy and in that game last night.....Reaves would have been into it . Maybe it happens Sunday and I am all for dressing Tinordi who likely will have to fight Martin and if I was Laf....I would bait Pageau at every opportunity and get him to take a couple of stupid penalties . That would be much better than a round two IMO.

We have to move Kreids especially since he’s risen his value. Perfect time to move him is this season/off season. Preferably after the season.

You know, I don’t think I move Kreider. Even if he is overpaid he has re-invented himself into a Ryan Smyth type player. Those players are useful and will have a role carved out. If you can get double digit power play goals and a good front-net presence it makes his deal look better. They shouldn’t move Kreider until Lafreniere makes the leap. Lafreniere isn’t there yet.

I wish there’s a pin at the top of every RBT page that summarizes this.

16 players signed and $10m left to complete the roster for 22-23. This $10m must include whatever is required to 1. pay Kakko on his bridge (?) deal and 2. upgrade Shesterkin back-up situation AND 3. five more other players (including Blais) even if most of them will be an league’s minimum and / or ELC. Strome is already excluded from this equation. So given this math if a poster makes a suggestion of bringing someone in beyond this season with other than $1m cap hit - he MUST show a subtraction of those already signed. Otherwise a post is just garbage and a waste of time putting together and reading.

This makes an incredible amount of sense. Touche.

You have to figure Georgiev s cap hit will be gone and maybe chytils too if the go after an upgrade and Barron assumes 3C duties.
Figure the cap will go up about a million, and we get a little buyout money back as well.
There is meat on the bone, it’s not much, but it all depends on how drury sees the long term 2C position.
I still say they move chytil If he doesn’t take a pretty big developmental leap this season.

Chytil cap for next year is very small and getting a proven “solid” back-up implies that his cap is going to be well beyond minimum. AFTER this season Kreider will have played only 2 years out of 7 total on his contract. Trouba - only 3 (and there’s absolutely no ready replacement for him next year).

It could work if he's traded w/retention. Long term, it will take sacrificing another player. I dont think we go after him. Think we look for a RW that maybe has 2 years left...

I don't know what they will do with Kakko. Is a 3 x 3 bridge? Or is it a 6-7 year deal @ $5-6M? Obviously that will make things tighter. Do we get a long extension with Kakko since he's already playing well? He takes Stromes spot on PP1 and takes off #'s wise. $5-6M becomes a steal in year 1.

Laf gets bridged. KAM could get a long term deal MacT or Skjei like.

We have an army of wingers and defensive prospects ready to jump in as well.

really rough sketch of next year

Not to be a party pooper but I’d like to see Barron play in the NHL before penciling him into the 3C role.

I’d be interested in Horvat and keeping him long term but it would require getting rid of one of Kreider or Trouba. Kreider playing as well as he has is good in case they need to get rid of him
