People really talking about Blackwell? Hunt is a better player than Blackwell. So is Rooney, Gauthier, Blais, Goodrow and any other players he may have been competing with for a roster spot here.

Blackwell is a replacement level player at best. He works hard but he's really small and he looks it out there. Other small players like MSL, Zucc, Debrincat - these guys have fantastic balance and centers of gravity so while they may be small, they're able to engage physically and their size isn't a hindrance. Blackwell is on his ass for 75% of his shifts. He was constantly losing his balance, getting knocked down, falling down. Between him and Howden, we had two players who looked like they were diving the entire game bc of how much they fell down.

He was basically useless on the boards and in battles. He had some decent skill and he was very deft at getting into soft spots and putting himself into the right areas but a player like him should not be a full time regular on a team looking to win. He was pretty quick but not really fast enough to play the type of game he was trying to play. He just doesn't bring enough. He didn't PK, he's not particularly defensively responsible, he's not great at winning puck battles or forechecking. Just an undersized and fairly one dimensional player.

I'm actually glad he was the player we exposed in expansion and Seattle took him.

I would have agreed 2 weeks ago but Kakko is finally starting to produce and this isn't the time to mess with any developing confidence. Leave him where he is and if he is still rolling in two weeks then you can move him.

I was watching Moneyball last night and this quote immediately brought Kakko and Lafreniere to mind. Especially Kakko and his recent scoring streak and the look on his face when scoring vs the look on his face after Stromes hissy fit, last week.

This quote was I'm reference to how spectacular of a prospect Billy Bean was. A can't miss, five tool prospect. Who fell flat on his face due to poor team management and a lack of confidence.

Voice of Sports Announcer: There's not an organization in baseball who would not have taken the chance on this young guy. It didn't pan out. It happens every year. Some do, some don't. Few scouts can go into the mind of a young man and determine whether he's really confident about what he can do. So he gets to sign him based on his ability, but then he's gotta be successful to be confident. And once he becomes confident that's when you got something. You make a decision on what you see and things don't pan out, you move on. That's baseball. Many are called, few are chosen.

Perfect and accurate. Just another reason an org needs to put players in a position to succeed and play to strengths rather than round peg square hole.

Jesus christ there is an Islanders moderator spreading some garbage all over their board about how the testing for covid in the NHL is bullshit, and it all stems from being a pissy runt because it has negatively impacted the Islanders

This kind of shit should not be allowed on this platform

Funnily enough, even though he is not the one performing right now, it is why I am not concerned about Laf coming around

Sure, it feels good to see Laf wrestle down Pageau after the Lindgren hit, but you don't want your top prospect off the ice for five minutes while Reaves is available, albeit glowering from the bench. Taking Laf off the ice for Pageau is a net gain for the Islanders. Bad strategy.

Let the fighter fight. If he's reluctant, maybe he needs a reminder of why he's here.

Bo Horvat potentially available

I could definitely see it. There’s been rumblings of a big Canucks move soon. There were also rumors that we called about Horvat this offseason

Lundkvist+1st+Othmann

Keep Strome and just move him to RW until his contract plays out. Bread-Bo-and Butter has a nice ring to it. Kill two birds with one stone by getting a long term 2C, and a rental winger. Strome replaces the hole that Blais left for the time being while also “teaching” Bo how to play with Panarin. Strome will be fine on wing as well and will loosen his defensive responsibilities. Had 50 points his rookie season on wing

-Horvat is a captain right now, could be our next one
-11 goals and 16 points in 23 playoff games
-Shoot first mentality
-Solid defensively
-Best part? He has a 58.6% faceoff percentage right now. He’s never finished a season under 53% on draws.

He would be the perfect 2C. Canucks are currently 6-12-2

Call Jones up for 3RD

*Apparently Benning hasn’t returned any calls per Dreger

You could find a way to bitch about being the sole winner of the mega millions when it’s over 800M.

Have you said anything positive about the Rangers since you’ve been here?

At least I don't bitch about people bitching. Go have some turkey, maybe it'll cheer you up.

If we're going to spend assets, it should be for an under-30 top-six C like Horvat or Domi, assuming that we can carve out room to keep them past this season. No sense in spending for rentals this season.

You’ve been harping on how he’s terrible and not engaged. In a 4-1 game he stands up for a team mate and gets engaged and takes off one of the few remaining scoring threats on a depleted islanders team. That’s now a negative for you, because it allows you to harp on Reaves not fighting (he’s never really been a fighter, he can, he just don’t drop them a lot).

Try to find a single negative post from me about Laf. You're bunching me up with other people, so maybe you should get it straight before you start bitching.

And Reaves not a fighter?? are you f***ing kidding me? What sport are you watching?
Ryan Reaves

The game was over. WE were up 4-1 with a few minutes left to play. If this was earlier in the game when it was close maybe but not at this point.

Good point, but also no reason for Reaves to not go after him. I think he is more effective a deterrent than Laf.
