Getting the spot just cause you are a vet is kind of the definition of not getting the spot on merit.
Not really. They have a body of NHL work to reference. That’s their merit. They don’t get to keep the job, sure, unless they continue to produce. But they get the benefit of the doubt to begin the season.

What ever happened to Domi. He had that breakout year than his game dropped..

Is it complacency?

He's a Sather type of player, that's for sure. Floundering 1st round pick. It's worth taking a flyer on him if he wont cost much and can play RW.

Headissues imo. He's not only a hothead, when he got a bit of success it went to his head too. He has talent but he gets in his own way. Also a bothersome father lurking and armchair GM'ing. Just maybe he will outgrow the issues and play to his top level consistently.

My take on the situation is that they wanted to roll out the red carpet for Nils coming over to NA by guaranteeing him a spot next to his countryman. I feel like the leash is getting shorter for him now that its almost Thanksgivingand Jones will soon get a chance if Lundkvist doesn't improve his play soon.

I think AHL time would be good for Lundkvist because hes really not playing his game right now. I dont think weve seen him take a single slapshot yet in the NHL, which was his bread and butter offensively in the SHL.
I don’t think it’s Jones vs Lundkvist. I think Jones will eventually replace Nemeth once Nils is more comfortable. Think the Rangers plan involves a few moving parts.

I actually see Nils developing into a pretty physical player. He has a good low center of gravity and is pretty stout. He’s starting to throw the body more lately. I think giving him a game or two off makes sense. He’s still learning the league and a break is great to digest some lessons. I expect he rejoins the lineup today - or soon - and looks good.
He's been surprisingly decent at closing forwards off... but all the things I thought he'd excel at are lacking

They won’t trade Jack. Local boy become fan favorite who was also apart of the Laine Dubois trade. I don’t see a fit with Cbus as a trade partners.

Let them keep Jack, not interested. Texier is interesting as a guy to build up.

I think the development plan with Miller was, first, focus on defensive play. Then, this season, they’re unlocking the offense. I suspect they’re taking the same tack with Nils. But hopefully, as Nils is older, more polished, more experienced, his timeline is a bit more condensed. That said, I don’t think Nils is going to be a puck-mover so much as a trigger man on offense. That’s why I keep saying he can eventually play with Jones :)

Why is Columbus trading Texier again? And what are we giving them to get him?

What's the ask, from a rebuilding team, for a third line player that has been bouncing around the line up? Ask Jarmo. Mostly I like Tex because he is a different type of player than what we have, quick and skillful, and with the versatility to fit the "create the player we need" template for down the road.

Anyway I just brought up Tex because he would be my target from the Blue Jackets when people talked about Domi and Roslovic. Domi is talented - I just don't like that he brings a, Kadri-like, unstable hand grenade vibe with him. You can't have him cook off and ruin a cup run.

?
Like behind the net he hasn’t been a complete zero but I don’t think he’s closed off a forward above the goal line all season.
I was mostly talking about behind the net. A few plays caught me off guard with how he sealed it off.

but in open space, his timing and gaps are still no where where they need to be.... to his defense, I don't really care for how our defense plays or how much space they concede

Wondering if its even a good idea for the Rangers to play the Islanders twice this week with all the Covid they got over there.

The Ottawa Senators Have a 100% Vaccination Rate—and 40% of the Team Has Tested Positive for Covid

Wow. This makes me feel great about playing on 3 separate hockey teams this fall/winter.

Cant stop playing but man, lets hope there arent any new variants that pose more of a risk.

Conclusion: There are no better place on earth for viruses than a hockey locker room... There are many examples like this in Swedish hockey that kept playing during the pandemic. Entire teams got knocked out, despite them of course being careful. Some had like 23 of 29 players and personel getting infected within a couple of weeks.

No wonder I have semi-chronic lung problems after my hockey career. Especially with there often being -40 celsius / - 40 F outside of the arena when you walked to a car or whatever.

Ummm someone didn’t watch the draft …

Rangers wanted Cossa

I did watch the draft. Where’s the proof the Rangers were targeting Cossa.
Yep. And even if they were, it could very well have been because he was BPA. Drafting a goalie doesn’t really have anything to do with the current parent club netminding situation. Always wise to input talent into the pipeline.
