I agree with not adding any long term salary but let’s be real how much is Blais possibly going to cost?
Dude hasn’t played more than half an NHL season the entire time he’s been in the league. I’d offer him like 4 years at 2 million per.
Offer him some stability cause god knows he doesn’t stay healthy
When does the cap space not matter, what is the cut off? Playoffs? How was Tampa able to load up?? Kucherov was skating months before he came back. I’d wager Vegas does something similar. Why weaken the team if they don’t have to..The short answer on Smith is money. If Eichel is coming back during the regular season, VGK has to clear almost $10MM in cap space.
Im all for Lehkonen except that he seems to be a LW.
I thought the trade deadline was the cutoff date to be cap compliant and Then No cap applies. But it could be game One of the playoffs…When does the cap space not matter, what is the cut off? You could be right, they might try to clear space early, but if I’m GM and they are in the playoff picture, I’m not rushing Eichel back.
Plus they have a lot vested in him. They are going to want to make sure he’s fully healed and then some before playing his 1st game with the knights

it wont happen until vegas starts getting healthier...Fits really well, if the price is right.
Hunt and more ice time for him is good in the sense it continues to diversify the players we have here, and when a guy like Hunt gets the opportunity it is great seeing him make the most of it.Gallant made it sound like we will see more of Hunt with 93-20, which I'm all for.
I think Francis did almost everything right with one exception...he hired the wrong coach.
I don't mind it either. I think best case scenario he turns out to be like a Zach Hyman. Obviously thats a stretch given how productive Hyman has actually become. But again development isnt linear...who knows
Hunt is a worker. I think he makes the most out of his opportunity and I hope we resign him.Hunt and more ice time for him is good in the sense it continues to diversify the players we have here, and when a guy like Hunt gets the opportunity it is great seeing him make the most of it.
I dunno....that seems like an expensive rental albeit a very nice one . I for see a club that is better established offering a premium but not us . I would sooner keep the assets and let Jones/Schneider/Robertson get their feet wet plus we still have Hajek/Bittetto hanging around to fill in and Tinordi/Nils/Nemeth...that's 8 guys...surely we can find a combo of two from them to play a few minutes a game ? .....and maybe we can't ?I think adding a forward can wait, there will be plenty available after the Olympics and I think Gauthier deserves some runway to pay every day in a top 9 role. Unless you can swing a change of scenery deal for a guy like deBrusk for a 3rd and Hajek or something.
The bigger issue to me is the 3rd pair D. I think Jones & Lundkvist need to switch places. Lundkvist cannot be the primary puckmover on his pair at this stage of his career, hes simply not ready. Jones looked good last year, in preseason and hes been solid in HFD. As the games move on the Rangers need to have defenseman who can get the puck out of the zone and thats Zac's main strength, get him here asap.
The rental i am really interested in if im the NYR is Mark Giordano. We know they were interested at the expansion draft and things have not gone well in Seattle. Being able to run out a Giordano-Jones pair in the spring with Nemeth as a capable depth D would really raise the floor and ceiling of this team.
Giordano for Robertson + 2nd Round Pick. I feel like the framework is there.

Yea sometimes he’ll wow you with a terrific pass or shot, and you’ll think hey this kids got good offense in him. But I wouldn’t expect it consistently out of him.He definitely tries hard out there. It's just that he has very little skill to speak of.
right, but he does have some speed. Goodrow does not.He definitely tries hard out there. It's just that he has very little skill to speak of.

you know who the perfect guy we should trade for is that Jesper Fast kid in carolina.
He checks a lot of boxes.

Orts is a good comp. think Hunt has better hands though. Both guys hit and worked their tales offTrue. Like I said before, he reminds me a lot of Jed Ortmeyer.
Hunt does A LOT of things well. He's incredibly uncomfortable to play against.
He shouldn't be getting top 6 minutes, but the other lines are going so it is what it is.
The cap is in effect until the playoffs start. Yes they could hold Eichel out until the playoffs start but Eichel is already on skates. If I'm Vegas, I want to get him back on the ice and playing. The start of the playoffs is about six months after his surgery. The Lightning did not hold Kucherov back more than a week or two. When does the cap space not matter, what is the cut off? Playoffs? That is emphatically not how it works.I thought the trade deadline was the cutoff date to be cap compliant and Then No cap applies. But it could be game One of the playoffs…
Agreed, if Eichel is ready, and he gets the all clear from a surgeon, likely he's going to need to be on the ice at least relatively quickly or the NHL may have a word about compliance. The cap is in effect until the playoffs start.
