Still want to see Chytil at 1RW with Kreider and Zbad. And I think Goodrow centering the third Line is the way that go.

Kreider-Zbad-Chytil
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Laf-Goodrow-Hunt
Barron-Rooney-Reaves

We need to get Jones up here. Tinordi sucks moose balls and Nils just needs some time in beautiful Hartford.

Barron and Jones are ready imo.

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Jones-Nemeth

Let Jones and Fox play all two minutes on the PP. Lindgren-Nemeth and Miller-Trouba on the PK.

If they aren’t going to play Barron at C I’d leave him in Hartford. He’s literally the only help we have coming at center on the Horizon.
Odds are he tops out as a very Good 3C that plays strong 5v5 and on the PK.
It could get messy at the end of the season as well. Rooney is 29 years old. He’s playing well. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he prices himself out of here. He’s going to be looking for a payday for himself with some years as security. If that happens, next season all we have is Zibby on his mega deal, and chytil signed for 1 year at 2.3 mill ( maybe still looking to find his consistency).
Barron is going to be needed at center pretty bad, I’d rather not yo-yo him up and down between wing/center. Keep him at center wherever he plays and let him refine his game.
Still think Goodrow is best served as a winger who can step in at take faceoffs when needed. Over his career, it’s where he’s done his best work.

Honestly half of those aren't realistic and other half I don't want. Like you said we need to play with pace and as nice as it would be to have kessel's experience and shot we really shouldn't get him.
Smith is probably the most realistic if Vegas wants to trade him. Would love Gourde (never gonna happen same with Larkin).
What about Toffoli?
Personally I would like to stay put and let this roster keep coming together than trade 1st or 2nd rounders or high end prospects.
I think the only one that is truly unrealistic on that list is Crosby.

You could make a case for every other player being dealt by their respective teams if they are a bubble team or worse at the deadline. Every one of them.

I wouldnt mind Toffoli either.

I am not saying just give away draft picks, however, if this team keeps collecting wins and is in a playoff spot at the deadline they are going to add. A lot of this has to do with the cap situation moving forward as well.

As much as I would love to get a legit 2c, I don't think NYR are going to add salary for next season. I could see them trying to swing a deal for one of the following UFA/RFAs. Not that I want all of these just who I think they might target.

Sea:
Johansen, Donato, McCann

Arz:
Crouse, Kessel

Ott:
Tierney,

CBJ: Domi

Det: Fabbri

So, let’s talk additions. All of the forwards listed below are on expiring deals. Sources around the league said the Rangers — who are already committed to $70.9 million against the 2022-23 cap with new deals needed for Kaapo Kakkoand Blais plus a need for a No. 2 center and a No. 2 goalie — can’t really afford right now to bring on players with term.

The Rangers don't have the flexibility to add term. Adding term will only exacerbate their cap issues. Rentals or players on entry level contracts.

I think adding a forward can wait, there will be plenty available after the Olympics and I think Gauthier deserves some runway to pay every day in a top 9 role. Unless you can swing a change of scenery deal for a guy like deBrusk for a 3rd and Hajek or something.

The bigger issue to me is the 3rd pair D. I think Jones & Lundkvist need to switch places. Lundkvist cannot be the primary puckmover on his pair at this stage of his career, hes simply not ready. Jones looked good last year, in preseason and hes been solid in HFD. As the games move on the Rangers need to have defenseman who can get the puck out of the zone and thats Zac's main strength, get him here asap.

The rental i am really interested in if im the NYR is Mark Giordano. We know they were interested at the expansion draft and things have not gone well in Seattle. Being able to run out a Giordano-Jones pair in the spring with Nemeth as a capable depth D would really raise the floor and ceiling of this team.

Giordano for Robertson + 2nd Round Pick. I feel like the framework is there.

Chytil of last night looks like he's ready to take the next step. Strome (deadline) for a cheaper option or picks, elevate Chytil, give Barron another look at 4C and off we go.

The issue is that Chytil's game is largely about skill and physical tools, whereas Strome's game is positional and about hockey IQ.

I can't see Chytil working with Panarin. So any post-Strome solution is either going to see Panarin with Zibby, or with someone new.

I agree with not adding any long term salary but let’s be real how much is Blais possibly going to cost?

Dude hasn’t played more than half an NHL season the entire time he’s been in the league. I’d offer him like 4 years at 2 million per.

Offer him some stability cause god knows he doesn’t stay healthy

The obvious answer here is to waive Georgiev and bring up Kinkaid. Leave Huska to get the bulk of starts in Hartford.

I wonder if they’ll be worried if they send Georgiev down he’ll publicly request a trade.

He sucks so us losing him is addition by subtraction but it wouldn’t be the greatest look for Drury to have two players request a trade publicly this early in the year

would've been obvious if only Kink was an NHL-calibre goalie. But no dice sorry.

Georgy is what we have and they have to shield him from adversity. He has it in him, everyone has a bad stretch. Bread's pal basically blew the whole of last season - can't say they want to trade him now though.
And he's a two-time Vezina winner.

Georgiev and Tinordi

Othmann+3rd+Georgiev for Hagel+Fleury

Thoughts?

Othmann is 13-7-20 in 14 games this season. Power forward with a mean streak. His projected path lines up with Kreiders NTC going from full to select.

Panarin is UFA two(?) years after.

No way I trade this kid. He's a wet dream with Lafreniere as a 1/2 punch at LW.

Francis is so self protective he doesn't dare do trades. Look at his work so far, it's all about making moves that are so safe and secure they don't stand out in any way whatsoever. He won't get anywhere with this approach, but neither will anyone else. Can't see him dare to pull the trigger on a trade on the level Gourde would be.
I think Francis did almost everything right with one exception...he hired the wrong coach.

I want the kids to get as deep into the playoffs as possible this season, so I'm down to self-rent Strome and to add an expiring contract like Kessel.

If your Vegas,, why trade Smith this season if your in the playoff hunt? They have no reason to worry about cap space until next season..
Gourde would be a solid pick up, but he’s not cheap or that young anymore.
I think your on to something with Seattle though. They suck and will look to be adding young talent. I’m guessing guys that would be easier to acquire are Donskoi /Jarnkrok
Gourde is the de facto 1C until Beniers is ready. Not saying they wouldn’t ever consider trading him, but it would be a steep cost. They likely what chytil, +,+
I don’t think drury or fans on here for that matter are willing to pay the price that gets Gourde out of Seattle...
Maybe Boston trades Studnicka looking for more Ammo to go after Hertl?
The short answer on Smith is money. If Eichel is coming back during the regular season, VGK has to clear almost $10MM in cap space.

I'd take Donskoi and or Jarnkrok

I've never seen the need for Kessel.

I think Fil is a Saiyan. Every time he gets hurt, he comes back stronger and more focused.

Just gotta get him glowing and develop a Kama-ha-ma-ha slapper.
