As it currently stands, here's who I see as buyers. I still think the east is going to load up, but not for premium pieces. More like depth pieces, or good role players. I'm guessing 3-4 more 1st rounders get moved, and Stone and Duchene, if moved, will get then 2 of those.

Premium Buyers:
Calgary- Could see Jimmy Howard being their top target. Veteran depth.
Nashville- Could be Panarin/Stone. Hayes. Zucc.
WPG- Stone. Hayes.

Scouting trips in recent weeks says it all.

Mid Tier/Depth Buyers:

SJ: Can't afford to pay a premium, but have good pieces. Middle of the forward line-up could be a difference maker. They have a good group of no-name prospects that are highly thought of outside of these forums.
BOS: Top Six/Secondary Scoring. Hayes. Zucc.
TB: 13th/14th foward. 8th Defenseman. Veteran leader who wants his name on the cup.
WSH: PK & 3rd/4th Line help. Raffl.
CLB: 3rd line center that can provide offense. Injury insulation with forward group. Panarin Alternative if he's moved.
DAL: Scorer. Desperate for offense. System is stifling, they need a playmaker.
Islanders: Maybe a 3rd liner. Maybe a 1st liner. Can't tell.
TOR: RHD. Cost control.
The Islanders are premium buyers. So are the Golden Knights.

Don't know much about the Islanders, despite going to a number of their games. Forgot the Knights.. they've got the assets to make a splash, but should they is a question. They won't have a farm to speak of if they go big game hunting.

That said, I would be ecstatic with getting the Hague-Whitecloud pairing instead of any picks.

Hague would be a coup, is he a plausible target in a Hayes deal?

Ill be interested to see him sign anywhere for less than 5 years. But if the market isn't offering him that (as you state) then so much the better for us. I'd much rather retain him for 3 years, and would be fine doing it for four.
I think a fourth year would be a dealbreaker for the Rangers but there’s a chance someone out there may Be willing to go that far. The Rangers may offer higher $, shorter term.

We angst about Panarin and Stone declining at 31 but any MZA contract starts, STARTS at 32. I love the guy but New York is a terrible place for an athlete to grow old.

I don't see him getting traded, but that's what I would ask for, Glass and Branstrom are unlikely to be moved. That pairing is going to be a ready made top 4 pair in 18 months.

I just think that whenever you give a player a 7 year contract, they will start to mail it in to some extent. You hope not much, but there really isn't anything you can do to prevent it.

Hasn't Fast been banged up for a while and barely practicing? Teams like zeroing in on bottom six players, and I'd be cool with moving him for a second rounder - like, he's good, but he shouldn't be worth nearly as much as Zuccarello - but I doubt it will happen if he's playing through something.

The Golden Knights have talked to the Rangers. I don’t know what that means (I only know about what but I do know that they have talked) but I suspect they have talked to a lot of teams. They, believe it or not, are a win now team. My source told me as long as they have MAF in good form, they think they can win.

I don’t think you are going to get their premium assets but perhaps they want to make a hockey trade. VGK needs another scorer and a defenseman who can move the puck.

I believe that they are a win-now team. That's not a surprise, it's them being a premium buyer that is... especially after the MaxPac deal. Warm weather, and tax shelters are popular with free agents, but does Vegas sell the farm again to do it. They've got plenty of draft currency, and can take on Hayes with a 1st and prospect, but do you see them in the Panarin/Stone/Duchene race?

Same guy traded Forsberg for Erat; you never know

They could possibly afford to re-sign Hayes, they can't with the others

Move most pieces and aim for top #3 in 2019 draft. Keep Zib and resign Zucc as UFA after his rental value draft pick this summer, because I really doubt a contender team can afford to resign him. Anyway if Calgary end up to sign him for a rental value and playoffs - they have projected cap space at 1.2 mil $.

Calgary has 5.7 in deadline cap.

So according to many league sources is that if Ottawa doesn’t make a move the whole league is at a stalemate with trades going down. Is this correct?

If McLeod got a 7th think they could maybe get something. I'd like to see him resigned.
Totally avoidable losing his RFA rights. Somebody f***ed up, but as many people here have and will say the damage is negligible. If he were a pending RFA for sure we could get a late pick for him based on his recent play. Now that he's a pending UFA? probably walks, that or we pay significantly more (200k-400k) to keep him than if we'd retained his rights. Strome can play there next season, maybe Andersson, Fogarty.

I don't think it's a f*** up. If he's a player who filled a valuable role, then they'd pony up. I like to Boo, but what does he do really? I'm in the camp that he needed to drastically change who he was and how he played to carve out a 4th line role, and he hasn't.

They are the shoe to drop, but I don't think they hold up the entire league, just the teams that are big game hunting.
