It’s not the cap hit for me, it’s the term. I’m sure a team will offer that but that will be because they’re competing now. Those teams will deal with the latter years because it enhances their chances of a cup for the next few years. Say, Calgary or Boston.

I’d offer that deal at 3 years this offseason but I’d still trade him at this deadline
I think with a full NTC for years 1-2, he'd be willing to take a fairly limited NTC for years 3-5. By year three NTC he should still have enough value to make a move.

Well seeing how our beloved Rangers are getting hammered again I’ll take a stab at some deadline deals that I would like too see:

Just my opinion not that all or any will happen but taking some advise from the board and some of my own wishes.

Lets start with Purple Hayes:

Thinking Boston or the Peg
Hayes to Boston for 1st and Vaakanainen—more likely 1st and 2 of JFK/Bjork/Frederic

Hayes to Peg for
1st and Niku or Vesalainen more likely Niku.

On to Zucc—thinking Dallas or Calgary:

Zucc to Dallas for 1st and Robertson more likely Gurisnov and 2nd.

Zucc to Calgary for 2nd and Andersson/ Kylington.

Shatty @ 50 % to Tortonto for:

Liljegeren and 2nd

Or Shatty @ 50 % to Edmonton for:

Pool party and 2nd

McQ stealing E-Train proposal

McQ to TB for the 2nd becomes a first/Cally/Raddysh/Stephens and 2020 2nd.

Names looking for 3rd thinking maybe St Louie.

Last if I’m trading CK I want an overpayment 2 team I target Carolina and Nashville

Carolina I’d want:
1st/Fox/Necas

Nashville I’d want:
1st/Tolvanen/Allard

Stocking the shelves with picks and prospects.

Again just bored started writing when it was 6-3 final 6-5 but hey what the hell.

You can add to it trash it just one persons options on how the team could set up this deadline.

Ps full Bern

I got to say that Ziba impressed on me today with his play against Crosby/Malkin. I think that if you look at how that Kreider-Zibs-Zucc line have looked, it might be the best line we have had since Straka-Nyls-Jagr of even better than them.

Great to see multi-point games from trade candidates Zucc and Shatty. Names with a point too.

If Gorton can find a taker for Kreider willing to give up a future ‘foundation piece’, I am all for it.

As it currently stands, here's who I see as buyers. I still think the east is going to load up, but not for premium pieces. More like depth pieces, or good role players. I'm guessing 3-4 more 1st rounders get moved, and Stone and Duchene, if moved, will get then 2 of those.

Premium Buyers:
Calgary- Could see Jimmy Howard being their top target. Veteran depth.
Nashville- Could be Panarin/Stone. Hayes. Zucc.
WPG- Stone. Hayes.

Scouting trips in recent weeks says it all.

Mid Tier/Depth Buyers:

SJ: Can't afford to pay a premium, but have good pieces. Middle of the forward line-up could be a difference maker. They have a good group of no-name prospects that are highly thought of outside of these forums.
BOS: Top Six/Secondary Scoring. Hayes. Zucc.
TB: 13th/14th foward. 8th Defenseman. Veteran leader who wants his name on the cup.
WSH: PK & 3rd/4th Line help. Raffl.
CLB: 3rd line center that can provide offense. Injury insulation with forward group. Panarin Alternative if he's moved.
DAL: Scorer. Desperate for offense. System is stifling, they need a playmaker.
Islanders: Maybe a 3rd liner. Maybe a 1st liner. Can't tell.
TOR: RHD. Cost control.

I still think the only way they extend Hayes is if a team has come to the table with a massive offer for Zibanejad. Still think Hayes and Zucc move before the deadline along with one off-the-board piece like Fast, Shattenkirk, or Georgiev.

Not asking anyone if we should offer it, but what do people think Zucc would say to a 5 year contract at 5.25 per, with signing bonuses and full NTC for years 1-2, partial NTC years 3-5
He would drive from Norway to New York to take that deal. No one is giving him that Length of contract. Every other team in the league will have the same aversion to giving him term that the Rangers do.

And I believe he would have been even better on the wing

Chytil did play center in the U18 WJCs and Necas was on the wing (he at least took like 47 FOs).

I also think that ‘never’ sometimes is a strong word. ;) I would be surprised if Chyts didn’t play his fair share at center at a younger age. You often move around pretty much before you reach 16-17.

moving Zib and retaining Hayes as a 1C, let alone as a 2C, would be devastating.

Let's put it this way: In Zlin, at the pro level, he was a winger. Kravtsov was a center at the u20 Four Nations and WJC. Doesn't make him a center

Namestnikov would be a real nice addition for teams looking for a glue guy to help with secondary scoring. Dallas would be ideal
Namestnikov is the kind of player that a team trying to make the playoffs trades for. I would take a 2nd (or a good prospect) from a borderline team knowing that would be a 40-50 pick. Anything less and I am keeping him.

Ill be interested to see him sign anywhere for less than 5 years. But if the market isn't offering him that (as you state) then so much the better for us. I'd much rather retain him for 3 years, and would be fine doing it for four.
