I still have absolutely no idea how you see this with Lundqvist, to me he should be playing exactly where he's at. Yes he needs work in his own zone, he needs reps like all young D need. I'm not seeing the "completely overmatched" part at all that you're seeing. I also think he's been good in the o zone, he's getting shots off and through, or smartly placing them wide for a good bank. The thrid pairing has been a black hole for offense and instead the pairing this year has helped with the cycle. Schneider could possibly be more steady in the D zone, but I think he'll be worse handling the puck in the o zone.By that logic, shouldn't they consider Nils' development as well? He's looked completely over matched to the point where he can't do simple things even when he is completely undeterred. I knew there would be a pretty rough adjustment period for him (the Calder talk was goofy, the comps to Fox were even worse.) What I didn't expect was for him to be so terrible at some of the most basic fundamentals required to play the position. He can't make a clean pass out of his own end even when he has time and space. Thats a problem and I can't remember the last time there was a player who was so woefully inept at it and ended up being even adequate with further development, but thats an entirely different convo.
