By that logic, shouldn't they consider Nils' development as well? He's looked completely over matched to the point where he can't do simple things even when he is completely undeterred. I knew there would be a pretty rough adjustment period for him (the Calder talk was goofy, the comps to Fox were even worse.) What I didn't expect was for him to be so terrible at some of the most basic fundamentals required to play the position. He can't make a clean pass out of his own end even when he has time and space. Thats a problem and I can't remember the last time there was a player who was so woefully inept at it and ended up being even adequate with further development, but thats an entirely different convo.
I still have absolutely no idea how you see this with Lundqvist, to me he should be playing exactly where he's at. Yes he needs work in his own zone, he needs reps like all young D need. I'm not seeing the "completely overmatched" part at all that you're seeing. I also think he's been good in the o zone, he's getting shots off and through, or smartly placing them wide for a good bank. The thrid pairing has been a black hole for offense and instead the pairing this year has helped with the cycle. Schneider could possibly be more steady in the D zone, but I think he'll be worse handling the puck in the o zone.

But how does this help them now if the guy didn’t even get the surgery and won’t be back this year ? He’s not going to help them with scoring now.

Its not but when the players in the proposed trade don’t develop aka Chytil or want out Kravs what are you gaining.

Personally I would rather trade for a Larkin over Eichel but I could see these players available in the right trade.

I was just piggy backing on a early comment.

Their window is closing and they’re barely a playoff team. We just had a bad game. Calgary adding Coleman was mind boggling given where their team is at.

That's fair. I wouldn't mind having Coleman or Mangiapane though. Them with Goodrow would be a great line.

There was a time I was open to the idea of toews coming here retained to fill a role, but thank Christ that didn't happen after everything coming out in Chicago. Absolutely disgraceful and disgusting and the players shouldnt to be able to escape this either

Mind boggling stuff. The world really has changed since 2010, and for the better. Unthinkable that something like this would just get swept under the rug like it did.

Nils has been horrible everywhere for the most part. He was okay against Ottawa but that was it. He’s clearly over matched in his own end, it’s the main reason why he and Nemeth have gotten caved this year.

I’m not even advocating for Schneider right now (Jones should replace nils) but I also very much doubt that Schneider would be worse at moving the puck than Nils. It’s been the worst part of Nils’ game, and it’s really why he should be sent down.

cant impose a cap penalty because the PA would shit a brick.
I specifically remember in the NFL when the WFT and Cowboys had cap penalties imposed and the NFLPA chose to stay out of it. And this is a lot more troubling of a matter than that was. I mean you're most likely correct, but it would have been worth it to try and to let the NHLPA try to argue against it. From an optics standpoint it would have been better than this shit. At least make it look like you're trying to punish them.

And you don't think Kreider could have got that anywhere else? Remember he signed pre pandemic.
In principle this is correct but actually, come to think of it, he would have hit free agency right when the pandemic was starting to blaze. He’s very wise/lucky. Sometimes, as they say, a bird in the hand….

Thought I had posted this. I’m guessing it didn’t go through.
Having issues with my internet.

Man, I absolutely love what I hear from Gallant in his pressers. He's a real straight shooter, not as much coach speak as we're accustomed to and he specifically mentioned key things that we all notice.

Way too early tank a thon check has the Rangers taking Nathan Gaucher from QMJHL 20th overall. Big kid at 6’3” 198 and almost ppg pace in the Q.

HF gonna love this lol

Gallant said nothing wrong here. Mika/Panarin/Kreider are all coasting and don't get physical.

Kreider has scored but his board game in non existent. I always point to game 6 vs. Ottawa in 2017. Where is that Kreider even at 50%?

I know Mika/Panarin/Strome are all finesse guys but c'mon, we've seen lines like Kissio-Ogrodnick-Mullen and Jagr-Nylander-Straka win board battles, and some of those guys were much smaller than any of the current guys.

Panarin has been pretty bad this year.
