I think we can get some nice returns. Had a very long chat this evening. Bobby Mac is pretty close to where it will land it appears. Hayes in the East, Zucc to the West it seems. Zucc will garner the most from a team with size. Retaining on Hayes will strengthen the return.
It also appears that the Rangers are saving money for something unconventional. Plus there is someone outside the usual suspects very likely to be dealt. I did not get this name - but have my suspicions. Gorton runs a very tight ship. For sure. Gotta respect that.
Brady Skjei

Erik Karlsson.

Sign me up for Lafrenière. Unfortunately our team won't be much better or worse next year I feel. Bottom 5-10 reg. season finish. Whatever happens in the lottery happens. But the kid is it. Furthermore unfortunately there seem to be couple of teams around, that are much worse off than us. Worse contracts, old(er) rosters, depleted farms. Sens, LA and Wings come to mind, maybe Hawks. The probability is super slim, we're not a bottom 5 team.

Our rebuild is over in the earliest when the big contracts are off the books. Staal, Shatty, Smith and the King. That's the 2021-22 season. Chytil and VK74 will be 22 years old! We're on a good track here. Just keep getting picks and keep believing we can pick studs outside of the top 5.

We won't have much to deal though after this TDL. Zucc and Hayes are the only valuable assets here. Quaider should fetch something, but it's not the world. Can't see Pionk go, nor getting anything of value. Smith shouldn't attract any interest whatsoever, but hey, we dealt McLord so maaaybe ... Shatty neither. Leaves young wingers like Buch and Vesey, who we need for transitioning. Leaves us the good old EA acquire valuable free agent in July deal for pick move.

Shattenkirk traded
Buyouts? offersheets? Three-ways? Top pick for stud?
Trade everything for McDavid?

Vesey or Skjei

The thing is, I wouldn't call taking back a bad contract "unconventional." Hell, we did it last year in a trade.

Sounds like Hayes to Boston and Zucc to Winnipeg. Wouldn’t mind two prospects from the Jets vs. their 1st rounder. Zucc for Lemieux and Virtanen. Hayes at 50% for BOS ‘19 1st, Studnicka & JFK.

The only player I would offer sheet is Kapanen/Johnsson and they would probably just find a way to match it for a 2nd rounder

For the record, short of winning the lottery this year and signing Karlsson over the summer, this team is still just about locked in to have another top 10 pick next year. Sending an offer sheet out this summer would be stupid.

Kyle Connor. They could send a 7 year, $8.5 million yearly offer sheet and lose only a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd if Winnipeg doesn't match. Winnipeg matching puts them in a really tough spot with Laine and Trouba still to sign.
Trade them Hayes for some of their ELC guys and then offersheet Conner hahaha
