Assuming the Rangers could trade Shattenkirk this off-season, would anyone be opposed to giving McQuaid a 2 year deal for, say, $2.5m per season?

I actually would not mind, assuming they can get rid of both Shattenkirk and Smith. But I believe there is very little chance of that.

Im trading the best player on my NHL team straight up for a guy who is the best player on his KHL team? Im trading my PPG 1C for a left shot Winger who isnt a ppg in the KHL? But because he’s 22 and scores a lot on KHL ice i have to jump on that opportunity? That soundsnlike an insane gamble to me and i am simply not taking it. I would rather watch Kaprizov pan out on Minnesota than take that risk.

Wasn’t Tolvanen a scorer in the KHL too?

Kaprizov is a heck of a hockey player. He is on a different level than most kids we discuss like they are the second coming.

I think we can get some nice returns. Had a very long chat this evening. Bobby Mac is pretty close to where it will land it appears. Hayes in the East, Zucc to the West it seems. Zucc will garner the most from a team with size. Retaining on Hayes will strengthen the return.
It also appears that the Rangers are saving money for something unconventional. Plus there is someone outside the usual suspects very likely to be dealt. I did not get this name - but have my suspicions. Gorton runs a very tight ship. For sure. Gotta respect that.

The main issue I'd have with McQuaid on any contract is he's going to play and no other player is going to be able to outplay him for what his "role" is. If a choice has to be made between him and anyone else, unless injured he is playing.
