I think Blais would add the needed element for the Panarin line. He’s no Fast when it comes to defense but he can create some space with his physicality.

Why would they do that? The only open spot is 2RW and they want him to be a center.
If we're talking about a pinch hitting role tonight, I'd rather him at 2nd line RW than 4th line center.

Laf - Zib - CK
Panarin - Chyril - Barron
Blais - Goodrow - Gauthier
Hunt - Rooney - Reaves

We f***ed up the situation with our big Russian prospect. What makes you think we’ll do any better with another team’s?
Why does being Russian have anything to do with it? There are some entitled little babies and some stand up good guys in every country.

I’m not saying anyone is an entitled little baby due to their nationality, but Maksimov, who happens to be Russian, is on unconditional waivers for purposes of a mutual termination of contract allowing him to return to Russia.

It seems likely that he prefers Russia to the AHL. How would that work any differently for us? Kravtsov’s ceiling is higher than Maksimov’s, why would we give Maksimov a slot over Kravtsov?

I used to hope that we would trade for Kostin. Now I feel like ‘why bother? We’ll just mismanage him and he’ll leave’.

the kostin example would make more sense if he hasn't played in the AHL every year since his draft year

If Kravtsov is traded for a similar player, I'd put my money on a Kostin, a Rasmussen or a Bokk. Otherwise, who knows.

I agree with you. But there is a cultural difference between former Eastern Block countries and Western countries. And one of those differences is a bigger significance put on self image, superficial respect, perhaps egoism or at least the appearance of self confidence. It's not that it doesn't exist elsewhere. It's just that these traits seem pronounced in former Eastern Block regions. And probably for good reason. Russia tends to be a bit more cuthroat than North America. There is more need to be on guard, to portray yourself as highly as possible and to hide any sort of weakness. Just like any other place where it's more "kill or be killed", not literally of course, well at least most of the time. But it's understandable, especially for the generations growing up after the fall of the USSR. Or to an extent even before. But for a period after the fall, Russia was very "wild west" like.

I wouldn't touch Hayton with a 10 foot pole. Talk about poor drafting...

And frankly, Kostin, Rasmussen or Bokk too would not be enough in my estimation. I don't think any of the 3, any of the 4, if we include Hayton, actually have Kravtsov's higher ceiling. At least a higher ceiling IMO and I think many others. Well, Hayton I guess may have that ceiling but I think the chances of him reaching it at this point are so so low.

Anyway, this doesn't diminish Kravtsov's actual talent or ceiling. He's a 21 year old who's been a hockey star for a while now. Sometimes, ego gets in the way, but that still doesn't completely explain this situation. Personally, I think the onus is still on the organization.

But for Kravtsov, I would at least want someone like Kupari, Pinelli, Foudy,Veleno or maybe Madden. Maybe not Turcotte or Vilardi, all though I honestly don't think they'll be THAT much better.

I was actually pretty upset when Logan Brown went to the Blues for a song and a dance. He would have been a perfect reclamation project for the NYR, just not necessarily at the expense of Kravtsov.

I actually like Pelletier a lot too as far as prospects go. N0t sure if Flames would move him though.

And Lias at least showed up to Hartford and scored at solid rates. .52 PPG in Hartford for Lias vs .38 PPG for Kravstov and (2) abandonments and counting.

Kravstov throughout this whole process has somehow made Lias look good in comparison.

That, and with Lias there were actual issues rather than a player just being upset about not getting a spot on the team. When Lias was sent down, he reported in Hartford, had no problem going there. It's only after he suffered 2 injuries and him and the team couldn't agree on a recovery plan that things escalated. You know, actual issues. Not a player refusing to report while fully healthy

I remember a foot issue but also remember staying up all night playing video games, going AWOL, cryptic bully references, and whining a lot so there’s that

That was near the end, yes. A lot happened in the weeks leading up to it though. Feeling isolated, not being allowed to rehab in New York etc.
