I do like Kravstov on the right wall for pp1. Let pp1 just be a shooting gallery but actually give pp2 some time. Lundkvist with his shot and the rest of the kids proving last game they can run a pp gives us a good pp2.

I wouldn't mind putting our 3 best players on a line. Create our own version of Boston's top line... but with much better depth

I would think player #3 would be Kakko. Needs to be a lefty who can play the right wing. Elite defensively, can grind out pucks and he can pass. Would be a deadly line.

Laf practically never takes one timers or slap shots though. I’d rank the shots:

One timer/Slapshot
1) Kravtsov
2) Chytil
3) Kakko
4) Lafreniere

Wrist shot
1) Lafreniere
2) Kravtsov
3) Chytil
4) Kakko

Snap shot
1) Kravtsov
2) Chytil
3) Lafreniere
4) Kakko

Backhand
1) Lafreniere
2) Kakko
3) Kravtsov
4) Chytil

Kravtsov has the quickest release & most deceptive shot of them by far, I think he is the ideal guy to play on the right circle. He also has the best slapshot and one timer by far. Chytil also has a fast release. Lafreniere has a more slow release but very powerful. Kakko has the slowest release but I think it was also a hesitancy about shooting, so might be fixed with confidence
I’m guessing Panarin isn’t on the list because he’s the best at all those and you just aren’t including him for that reason.

that's subjective. Who's the top line? Panarin is our best player and drives the teams offense at Even-Strength.

The top line is determined by who the #1C is.
How do you play Kreider out of position while you have a legit top line winger?

I'm not sure I get the mindset here.
Your top players need to be playing on the top line.
We really talking Kreider over Kakko here?
I don't give a shit who's playing on the 2nd line and PP is a different story but you put your best players on top line..

Think about having 2 balanced top lines from a matchup perspective. If you're an opposing team, who do you put your best D pair out against? How do you focus all your energy on stopping more than one line? Balance is ideal.

Not to focus too much on next summer, but assuming Fox gets Makar money (no sure thing), that’ll leave $10mm for Kakko, Kravtsov, Blais and a backup G. So who’s potentially on the cutting block to free up space?

I totally get that and agree for the most part but when you have a dominant player in Kakko, you put him on the top line.

I'm guessing we go with a bit heavier and more veteran of a lineup on opening night

Laf Zib Kreider
Panarin Strome Kakko
Goodrow Chytil Kravstov
Blais Rooney Hunt

Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
Nemeth Tinordi

Capitals are a slower and heavier team

Kreider is a veteran and he will get his chance to prove himself on the right wing. If it doesn't work then we hope Gallant moves him down.

Kakko would greatly balance Panarin’s line. Strome sucks balls defensively and both him and Panarin aren’t exactly going to win a lot of battles down low and on the boards. Kakko provides that left handed shot on the right side, and can create time + space for his linemates. He’s also talented enough to play the style Panarin and Strome like to play.

Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Lafreniere-Zbad-
Kreider-Chytil-
Blais-Rooney-Reaves/Goat

Id like to see Kravtsov at 2RW and Goodrow at 3RW, but I think Gallant gives the bigger role to the established player instead.

Then again, we do this shit every year and it’s always different.

Wonder when (and if) we're going to see them start trying Chyt at 2C.
Meaning not with the 3rd line grinders.
One of the big decisions left.

I'd love to see a Barron-Chytil-Kravtsov line to be honest. That's a great 3rd line and reminds me of the 3rd line we had in 2013-14. Goodrow on the 4th with Blais and Rooney.

Of course this is all based on the assumption Gallant keeps Kreider in the top-6, although he might be better suited on the 3rd line. 20-72-21 would be great.
