Kreider would be a good fit for them. He isn’t a rental. Carolina might keep Ferland as a self rental and maybe add to make a playoff push for a team which last made the playoffs in 2009.

Decent chance Carolina’s on his 10 team NTC. Necas, Fox & ‘19 1st? Pressure on Waddell enough to do something big?

Another day, another destination for Kreider...

Anyways today feels like the type of day where you see one of Hayes/Zucc go.

Don't really want to trade CK but this is one deal I would make in a heart beat.

What if the Rangers made this deal and in the off season signed Stone instead of Breadman.

Stone would replace CK--plays fist line with Zibs plus they have the Ottawa connection.

Fox is the D-man were looking for.

Necas stud prospect.

Carolina's first will most likely be in the range of 20-25 hopefully more towards 20 then 25.

Also could see a smaller deal around Zucc for Fox and 2nd pick

Worth noting that first fox necas is almost comparable to the McDonagh return. Necas is probably worth what Howden and Hayek were together. Also, am I an idiot, or is Fox Calgary's property, not Carolinas?

If he comes back it would be a series of short contracts until he retires much like Joe Thornton has been doing.

I suppose that could work, right? But Zuccarello is not in the same pedigree as Joe Thornton. This guy was having 80 point seasons when he was 32, it’s no wonder he wasn’t traded by the Sharks and continuously brought back.

Huge center, GREAT wheels, big difference between Zucc and Thornton.

But isnt Necas the #2 overall prospect outside the NHL according to Proman? :sarcasm:

Fox was part of the Hamilton trade.

Fox went to Carolina as part of the Hamilton trade.

Edmonton needs a change .... Names, Smith and Vesey for Poo , Kassian, Sekera and a pick ?

Can't see Edmonton taking on additional money in a deal like this.

I can see where Edmonton is getting the better offensive players because Poo is not scoring but there's no incentive for Edmonton just to clear Sekera contract.

What is the point of this trade for the Rangers? They are rebuilding and this does nothing to aid that. They'd be better of selling Names and Vesey individually for 2nd rounders and keeping Smith then doing something ridiculous like this.

It’s definitely not. Necas and fox are much better prospects than Howden and hajek were. It’s comparable if we actually get the additional first round pick. But you’re talking Carolinas top 2 prospects. We didn’t get that from Tampa

Don't disagree regarding the quality of prospects, but Fox's uncertainty to sign in CAR is a significant mitigating (value-lowering) factor, IMO.

I want to keep Kreider but you absolutely move him if Carolina offers Necas, Fox and a first

But they won’t so we’re good

I don't think they would either, but their owner is nuts and thats a team that hasn't made the playoffs in 10 years.

Desperation becomes a factor in these things too.

Can’t Fox walk away for free after the season? I rather go after another prospect and go after Fox as a UFA.

2020 he can and the Rangers may have a good chance to sign him should he go UFA

But there’s also a chance he signs elsewhere, or stays with Carolina. If the Rangers trade for him he’s signing 100% regardless

They could trade for him and he still walks

He’s a Ranger fan and the rumor was that his reason not wanting to sign in Calgary was his desire to play in NY

There’s a possibility he doesn’t sign if the Rangers trade for him, but it’s incredibly small

I would say his reluctance in signing is more of a roster issue and not a fandom thing. Calgary and Carolina have logjams and he doesn't want to toil in lower leagues because he isn't needed at the higher level.

Carolina tried to address that issue and publically stated they will make a spot for him, but they haven't so far and there are other guys in the system too.

Another positive for us, albeit a minor one, is Lindgren partnered with him in international tournaments.
