Shh, you’re making too much sense pointing this out

I loved Zucc but I’ve soured on him. And it’s not been a few months. He’s been sulking since last deadline when the team clearly punted the season.

I’m grateful for the time he’s given us but it’s time to move on
Fairly sure if you needed to borrow money, or someone to watch your dog, or a couch to crash on for a week, Zucc wouldn't be answering his phone or the knock at the door

(I would tho... I can be your friend lol)

Of all the names mentioned here Roslovic is a guy I want badddddddd. Give me all the big righty centers
He just scored a hat trick last night. I know, I know, Matt Puempel scored a hat trick two years ago too, but that's not the point. Roslovic just turned 22 and is producing on an ELC for Winnipeg. Think Chevy, one of the stingiest GM's in the league along with Sakic and Yzerman, is dealing a producing player on an ELC?

I'd look to get defense out of Winnipeg if Hayes and/or Zuccarello is to be dealt there. Samberg would be a decent get. Sami Niku is the guy I would want from them.

He hasn't been producing outside of last game. He has 0 goals, 2 assists, and 10 shots taken at 5v5 in 12 games since he got moved up to the 2nd line with Ehlers injured. He has 5 PPG on 6 shots and 1 assist in that time frame as well (3 and 1 coming last game). He likely will be a good players but he certainly has not been producing well since he got moved up in the lineup.

My biggest fear is that JG runs out of time. Last year we know he wanted to deal Zucc but ran out of time because of the McD trade.

I was going to say, if Roslovic is 'producing' than so is Howden.

There's an element of Devil's Advocate here with Roslovic. Is he producing now because he's getting more ice time, or is this just a hot streak?

My honest answer is that I don't watch enough of Winnipeg to formulate an opinion one way or another. Given his pedigree (1st round pick, good AHL numbers), it's reasonable to assume that he may be on the cusp of a break out. Unless Chevy gets stupid, I don't think he's available.

Doubt it happens.

Hayes will probably be the last one to go but he'll go. I expect everyone of the other UFA's to be gone prior to the last day.

No I mean he has not been producing with the extra ice time. He had one good game, last game, where they won 9-2 with 4 powerplay points. He's done nothing at all at even strength.

He's a spare part for their team right now. He may develop into a key player in the future but he's not that this year and will be right back down to the 4th line shortly when Ehlers returns.

Their entire top 6 is either signed long term or RFA (in the case of Laine/Connor) so it's going to be very hard for him to carve out a significant role in the near future unless he manages to displace Little as the 2C at some point.

Was too lazy to look up his usage and 5 v 5 splits. I'm of the mind that you can never have too many right handed shots on the team to change the look of a power play set up. Cheers.

You bring up a good point with Winnipeg's top 6. All are under contract for the next couple of seasons with Laine and Connor due huge raises. I brought up Connor as a summer trade target a few weeks ago. How are they affording to keep him, Laine, and Trouba, whom are all due raises after their RFA deals expire this summer.

I think Little is the odd man out to make cap room. He'd look really good in Vegas. If it were me, honestly, and this is probably going to sound crazy, I'd trade Laine for a ransom this summer and keep Connor if I were Chevy. It will be very interesting to see what Winnipeg does this summer.

Just because a reporter said something like that it doesn't mean it's true...

But if they do trade Zucc I believe it will only be a temporary project. I have a strong feeling he will sign with the Rangers after the playoffs, and return next season as the captain.

Is JG literally going to wait until the deadline?
I don’t see any issue with how Gorts is approaching it. 3 weeks out and there’s only been a few deals so far.

I’d like to see this year happen like Cashman in 2016. Chapman was done a week in advance, Miller 36 hours out and Beltran right at the deadline. Get Hayes done a week or so in advance, Zucc approaching and Mcquaid at the deadline.

I think it will work in the opposite direction.

If you look at the way it worked last year, the deals went from less significant to most (Holden-Grabner-Nash-McDonagh/Miller)

The trade deadline is a day earlier than it was last season, and Gorton started making moves on Feb 20th last year with the Holden deal.

We're not holding the crown jewels of the rental market this season, and teams are going to try to get Duchene and Stone first before they get players like Hayes and Zucc. If we make moves first, it'll be our tertiary pieces for mid-round picks or throwaway prospects.
