Isn't this exactly the kind of guy we don't really give a **** about acquiring anymore?

I don't know, look around the league. How many players are there that fit the mold of a RH Boone Jenner?

Look at the top PPs in the league. How many of them have a RH forward in the slot as their net front, with a RH trigger man?

I think Studios fills those roles at 5v5 and on the PP.

What are people's thoughts on this trade:

Rosolvic, little and a 2nd

For

Hayes and vesey

Jets get the 2c upgrade, vesey can slot into the Jets lineup to fill for rosolvic and they also move littles contract out before he coming rfa contracts they need to work out. Nyr gets a roster NHL player w young upside and can flip little to someone while potentially retaining to further the overall return.

Hate it?
Winnipeg isn't doing it

Absolutely not on Little. No long term contract dumps coming this way.

Now Brooks shares my thoughts about trading Zucc as a rental, and then the Rangers will re-sign him as a UFA and most likely award him the captaincy.

But as Brooks says, he could fall in love with his new club, so there's still a risk of losing him. That's why the Rangers could decide to go for an extension before the tdl.

On the other hand, a trade will give Zucc a chance to play for a cup. Teams like Calgary and Pittsburgh are rumored to be very interested.

Seems like Winnipeg and Boston are separating themselves as the frontrunners for Hayes. I would think he is a better option than Brassard despite the cost. You don't skimp with these stakes.

More than any other player, I hope he is dealt soon. The Panarin injury last night is a wake up call.

I noticed that we stopped scouting Dallas.

Zuccarello I can see going to the deadline. Maybe Washington swoops in. Maybe San Jose. Nashville? He will draw a lot of interest, the price just depends on the supply which is a little heavy. Don't see him in Calgary. They stand pat or add Ferland/Simmonds.

I can see some moves amongst Fast, Vesey, Namestinkov. One guy, maybe two with term.

Kreider feels like too big of a move for the TDL. I can't see Gorton doing it for pure futures, and teams won't want to move roster players now. Unless Colorado steps up with Makar, this one is a summer move. Cap and roster moves make it too complicated now.

Zucc with 7 game point streak and I believe Hayes has had 19pts in last 14 games.

If the Rangers pulled off a miracle and got that #1 pick youd have Hughes and Zbad 1-2 down the middle then some combo of Anderson and Howden for the 3rd line for a long time.

How every single Ranger fan isn't openly rooting for exactly this to happen, I have no idea.

Guys, Hayes is not going to Boston.

The better he gets, the higher the expectations and based on how the media and fan base treated the Hayes FAMILY when Jimmy started floundering is basically what cemented Kevin's decision to NOT sign with the Bruins.

Imagine if they give up a kings ransom and it's not an on ice fit?

The Bruins are not going down that road again and Hayes would be stupid to subject himself to that scenario limited as he is to avoid it.

I honestly put the odds of Hayes to Boston as slim to none and slim has left the building

Zero desire to bring back Zucc

Guy moped for what was basically an entire season and is getting his act together now cause someone told him he needs to sign a new contract in the summer

No thanks, nice memories with him but get lost

Wow. I would hate to be your friend. Guy gives everything to this organization for 7+ years (including a return after basically being driven out by Torts after his first stint) and can't be forgiven for a few down months which were caused by what can be assumed was fear due to an upcoming life-altering change.

Yeah this is a bit too much for me. I’d definitely bring him back on a shirt vet deal. Maybe 2-3 years at $4.5-5m. Easy decision for me. More than that and it’s a pass. He’s been a joy to watch and a very good Ranger. He’s still an effective player and he’s going to, most likely, end up again at 45-55 points after a very slow start.

The guy plays with an energy and passion for the game so it’s not a surprise to me that this stuff has been weighing on him for a while. It’s unfortunate but that is part of the business. I’d trade him and absolutely look to re-sign him if he came back to be a vet the kids learn from.

Small difference between being a fan of a guy on a team and a friend, whom you've know for x many years tho yeah????

That's the beauty of not having a NMC/No-Trade. It's a decision between the Rangers and Bruins. While Jimmy Hayes didn't pan out in Boston, he didn't pan out in the NHL period.

Kevin is a different story. I know that Kevin is very very much a Boston guy. The hockey guys from the Boston area are fairly chummy, and I would suggest the opposite, if it does pan out, he's a cult hero in that town. When was the last time a hardcore Boston guy was a stud for the Bruins?

Shh, you’re making too much sense pointing this out

I loved Zucc but I’ve soured on him. And it’s not been a few months. He’s been sulking since last deadline when the team clearly punted the season.

I’m grateful for the time he’s given us but it’s time to move on

Now Larry thinks we should trade Hayes for Panarin. This guy has lost it.

I'm all for it...as long as we are then flipping Panarin to the highest bidder for more than we'd get for Hayes.

I work with someone friendly with the Hayes family.

Not gonna happen.

And with Gorton knowing what happened already, hes not going to subject the kid to that.

Not happening

I think we can write off COL as a premium buyer. They are closer to the Rangers in the standings, and it doesn't make any sense for them to make a big push. Their window will expand the next two years. Now is not the time.

I'd peg the contenders for Hayes down to WPG and BOS as the front runners.

In regards to Hayes:

If we trade with Winnipeg - would like to get Vesalainen in the return. Vesalainen has 15 pts in 25 games as a 19 year old in KHL. Also had 8 pts in 8 games in the AHL before being loaned.

If we trade with Nashville - would like to get Dante Fabbro in the return. 20 year old right-handed defensivemen that has 22 pts in 24 games with Boston University.

I honestly don't know how we would be able to trade for those. We would probably need to package Hayes with a pick but if we could get those players along with a pick or two, that'd be awesome.

Though I'm sure this will never happen, the ideal to me would be to overpay on one year deals and trade him at the deadline until we're good again.

I’m not as bullish about the Avs window expanding naturally, although I’m not saying that acquiring a rental is the right move. They’re really at the point the Rangers were at when they signed Richards.

Time to assess what the team is missing and make a bold move to address it. Like I said, that doesn’t mean acquiring a rental.
