Hayes to the Aves for their 1st plus prospect would be welcome. Their first will be in a really decent 15-20 range most likely, there will be a top 10 talent falling back to this range like we saw last year with Ty Smith. Much better getting a 1st in this range back then a 1st in the 25 plus range. Quantity is good but we need to start adding Quality assets to the mix.

Moving them all to the West preferably because f*** the East. Our best trading partners are in the West as well. Please and thanks.

Someone is going to take Edmonton to the cleaners this season. If management knew what they were doing they would clean house right now. I wouldn't trust a GM who doesn't have the long term interests of the team foremost in his mind. Draft picks and prospects do nothing for Chiarelli right now. They need the playoffs.

Reading through the Avs board and they all seem pretty certain about a Hayes to Avs trade going down, seems like they all agree on Avs 1st+Jost for Hayes, a lot also think it might be a sign and trade. Also, I saw a few thinking they can get Zucc for a 3rd because LeBrun speculates it. That is all

Honestly, Jost + 1st seems like pretty good value for the NYR. I know Jost isn’t a super sexy prospect these days and has risk but that’s a reasonable risk/reward flier to me.

Problem is that I don’t think that they’re talking about for a rental Hayes. There’s lots of talk of a sign and trade on the board and I just skimmed through, if it’s for a rental Hayes, that’s actually good value. Avs sit at 18th overall right now and while they may get better with Hayes, it’s still a very early 20s pick at the least. If it’s for a signed Hayes though I wouldn’t like it

If its for a signed Hayes, add a pick and a prospect.

That's not terrible value, but that's not an offer that gets Gorton to pull the trigger early. I think he gets more elsewhere especially if he waits. Its not enough if Hayes has something in place.

The deal will be somewhere between what each board is willing to accept. I've seen Bowers and a 3rd from one of their fans, and Makar and a 1st here. But is Sakic wants to jump in early and get Gorton to break from his habits, it will have to be more.

I'd be completely fine with Hayes and McQuad for Avs 1st, Jost, and AJ Greer. Since their team has turned into a dumpster fire I'm sure they'll want a condition on the 1st rounder though. Top-10 protection but unprotected next year. If they make the pick this year we get Ottawa's 3rd.

If they want a signed Hayes, that totally changes the return, however.

Several other teams will probably be in the mix for Hayes, so if Sakic wants to try his luck with Hayes as a pure FA signing in July then Gorton has other options.

I've mentioned:

Hayes + Vesey for Jost + COL 1st '19 + (prospect) + Conditional picks if Hayes re-signs

Bowers? Color me very underwhelmed if he's the main piece in a Hayes trade.

Colorado’s amateure scouting has been god awful the last decade. Since 10’ only the big 3 have made it, no other pick — including the 1sts — are looking good. There is a reason for why they are where they are.

I don’t know about Bowers, haven’t noticed the little I’ve seen game in which he played. Seems to be very mediocre. Jost? Reminds me a bit of Christensen, haven’t seen a lot of him though. Heck I am not even the biggest Makar fan. Kaut? Hard to read if he has enough raw skill to be more than a clutch mid-line winger. Love his RHS and how well he distributes the puck. Would probably fit in well.

Ziba and Shatty with with 1.5m retained for Barrie, Kaut and Ottawa’s 1st.

Then you swing Barrie and Zucc to Toronto for Kapanen and Toronto’s 1st.

Hayes to Winnipeg for their 1st, Lemieux and Roslovic

We would suck, get 2 picks in he top 8 at least in the draft. One top 2? Can one of those picks become who we can build around. Kaut and Kapanen are two RHS, helps mitigate the loss of Ziba. We need someone like Lemiux, the kid looks good every time I see him in Winnipeg. Resign Hayes in the summer, he would never resign with Winnipeg, that is why you trade him there.

I also have a feeling that Meloche might be involved, with the recent scouting of the Eagles (Avs AHL team)
It’s either him or Jost (or both which would be nice)
Meloche is a defensive minded RHD, 6’3. 14 points in 34 AHL games. Only 21, drafted 40th in 2015. Avs are pretty high on him but they have RHD in Barrie, Johnson, Makar, and Timmins. Meloche feels like the odd man out

The Avs have been seemingly trying to trade Barrie for years. I wonder if he would be coming back in return for a guy like Hayes. Especially if they have a strong indication of him re-signing in Colorado. Barrie would be a real nice chip to ship elsewhere for teams looking for an offensive RHD

I seriously doubt it. Johnson can't stay healthy and when he is healthy he's been more or less dead weight. That blue line without Barrie is bottom-5 in the NHL. Plus, if they wanted to move Barrie that badly they'd probably have a number of takers at this point.

I'd keep an eye on Dallas as a spot for Zucc. There was a report that they were looking at Brassard and they really need scoring behind their top line. Add Brassard for cheap and add Zuccarello to his wing and you get proven chemistry. Not an easy thing to do at the trade deadline. Might be able to sign them both to keep them there long term.
