He was on Spittin Chicklets. I'm sure he knew that a long time ago. "Legal marijuana in Colorado. No big deal. CBD oil reduces inflammation and helps me sleep."

The fact that CBD is illegal and certain opiates are not is a f***ing joke.

Not to get this off topic, but it’s something that just really grinds my gears.

Anyway, if Hayes goes to Colorado I’d be looking for some package around a 1st and one of Jost/Kaut depending on if he extends right away.

Would be rooting for him to light it up, both on and off the ice

DeAngelo and Ho-Sang in the same locker room? HBO would have to bring back their road to the Winter Classic series just to follow them around

I liked him in the 2017 draft. He seems similar to Howden, and frankly, fits the narrative I’ve been willing to receive in a Hayes deal - a 1st, a quality prospect and another pick.
It’s not a bad comp and they are somewhat similar players. I think Bowers has better ability at opening up space for himself and I think he’ll be able to be a bit better defensively.

But yeah, that’s what I’m guessing we see in a Hayes deal.

One reason is that he can get a guaranteed 8th year. Though, I’m not sure a team would make that kind of commitment for Hayes.

Can't he get the 8th year by signing after the trade as well with whomever he was traded to? Unless thats a rule I am not aware of, it still doesn't give him a reason to sign before the trade happens.

I kind of misunderstood your question. The above is correct as far as I know. But if the only way a deal goes down (and he can get 8 years) is for him to negotiate / agree in principle beforehand it could be worth it. But that is admittedly not a super realistic scenario.

My personal thoughts
Zucc to Nashville, SJ or Dallas
Hayes is going somewhere. Not sure where though. Calgary?
McQuaid to Toronto or Boston
Shatty dealt next season
Maybe a p hockey trade with Edmonton. Buch for Pool party?
Maybe McLeod gets a 7th from some disillusional GM to get punched up Pretty bad by Reaves or Wilson in the POS

Pure speculation or have you heard something along these lines? Appreciate keeping us in the loop

I would do something around Buch for Pulj as well. I'm pretty sure its the minority opinion, but I think its a deal worth looking at, assuming Edmonton is willing to add a little.

Just dont think Buch is part of the future core here and I dont know if he would ever bring in a proven NHL player or 1st round pick at this point. Pulj might be the best asset he ever pulls in, but there is tremendous risk that we trade Buch for nothing.

I am willing to take that risk though.

Chytil’s future is at center. Look at all of his goals. The majority of them have come on the right side. The Rangers have him playing left wing. The scoring chances he creates are from the right side. He made a great pass to Hayes in the Leafs game before Christmas. Right side. He can make plays on the left side. He made a nice pass on a two on one to Kreider for a one timer in the Ottawa game at home.

Big and strong centers are hard to find. I not saying Chytil is Sasha Barkov but Chytil is going to get bigger and stronger as he gets older. He is 19 years old. I read here a few weeks ago that Chytil would be an OK player and they were signing Kreider’s praises. Kreider was a sophomore at BC at the same age and Chytil is playing in the NHL.

wha ?

chytl is able to roam up and down the wing and use his speed to score highlight real goals and so hes gotta play center ? why ? hes able to do what he does because hes not burdened with the middle of the ice right now.

LA is a centerman. he looks like a prototypical 2/3 type. defensive and smart but lacking that speed and quick twitch that filip has. chytl looks like a young buck out there ready to go at any moment.

center comes with alot more responsibility and this age, just keep him on the wall.

let this kid free style and use the size and speed on the edge. ive always felt hes got the skill to play the middle but i love his finish and fearless play with the puck. let him be a scorer. let him play wing.

Calgary has a good mixture of signed young forwards and older D, they will make a move to bolster their depth to see if they can come out of the west. Zucc for their 1st plus B prospect might be the ask but I'd look to pry Vesalaninen for Zucc one for one. He's a prospect that can make the Rangers next year, we need winger prospects and he's near NHL ready and turning 20 in the summer. I'd like to see us add some near NHL ready prospects where we could.

Ok let’s save the laugher but Eklund wrote today about Zucc to Calgary—makes a lot of sense as does Hayes.

Anyone think Zucc can return Calgary’s first and Bennett ?

Worst case 2nd and Bennett—worth it ?

I would really hope there is a better centerpiece elsewhere if that is Colorado's best offer. Add something to Hayes to get the next level of prospect/equivalent pick if you have to. If hes the secondary player in a deal, sure, great. Otherwise, not a guy that should be our target at all in my opinion.
Agreed, we need high quality prospects instead of other teams 6-12 level players.
