Let him walk...lol, come on...you're smarter than that.

I think GMs in this league know what Zuccarello brings. Many teams would love to have him, just like the Rangers. But it's a matter of trade value vs team value. If the Rangers can't get what they think he's worth, they'll go for a contract extension.
I do think they’ll get a decent haul for Zucc but I agree it’s not insane to imagine him re-signing assuming it’s not a cap-breaking deal. I doubt this happens but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
They probably won’t re-sign him and Hayes for example though. But I do suspect at least one or two vets will get new deals.

I don't think this should really be a Kreider Vs. Hayes discussion. The one that should be happening if you want to have one is Mika Vs. Hayes.

But for arguments sake, you'll have a much easier time replacing Hayes than replacing Kreider. It's not a coincidence that when ever anyone has gotten hot this year, Kreider's been on the line of said player.

Kreider has indeed made more or less everyone he has played with better this year.

I don’t know. Amazing how far Poolparty has fallen. I’m not saying there given him up yet but if there’s one team that seems to make trades where you say WHAT—we all know it’s Edmonton.

Everyone think he will be dealt, at TSN and so forth, but I believe it when I see it. I just can’t imagine PC trading him. They should have dealt the pick. Given the kids they had left proper support. And then build on that.

But they got greedy, ‘McDavid is a super star and Pulju has all the potential in the world. Why deal the kid, we can wait!’

I’ve seen all kind of speculation on why Pulju is struggling, some say that his hockey sense sucks, others that he is lazy. It has nothing to do with that, no offense to anyone but not even remotely. Pulju is struggling for the same reason Milan Lucic has gone from scoring 30 goals to scoring 3 goals. He hasn’t been able to keep up.

Pulju is like 5 months older than Lias Andersson. They have been pro players the same time, but Lias started in the SHL. EDM rushed Pulju to the NHL. He can play with the puck, but he can’t get it enough. On a 3-4 line he was just never involved in the play enough. They have not afforded him top PP time, the pressure have always been too high. So month after month, he has more or less done nothing. Skating up and down the ice for 10 minutes a night always being a bit behind the play.

The kid you get today is basically the same kid you would have gotten if he broke both legs a couple of years ago.

That is how they run that team, and there are zero reasons to expect them to change. They don’t realize what it takes and they are really reckless. They will gamble on Pulju getting it done without going through the due process.

Everyone here overrates kreider because hes home grown.. Hes basically fully grown at 27 and hes only played 80+ once and hasnt score more than 53..

SELL HIGH

That gif is like more HD than my actual life

Brassard, Hagelin, Zuccarello, Del Zotto, and Byron Boy are all upcoming UFAs at a low or for a few of them, the lowest valleys of their careers, likely to sign for a smaller than current contract contract and for less years too. Callahan has 1 year left on his contract after this season and Tampa would pay a handsome pick to unload Callahan to make the cap work and beef up for a run this year/next year where they're easily the cup favorites. Melnyk probably doesn't like Gaborik eating up $4.6M cash while doing nothing on IR and if they keep Stone/Duchene, it'll be a mega deal that will get them to the floor. We can put the old band back together. Drury is already AGM, Richards can be a special adviser. Marty St.Louis has had what? 2-3 years now to be a hockey dad. About time he stepped back into the business. I'm predicting a major melt down in Columbus with Panarin and Bobrovsky both leaving, the Blue Jackets getting ousted in the first round, Torts getting fired due to three consecutive 1st round exits on a team that's not going to transform and reach new heights under him especially with Bobrovsky and Panarin both gone. Quinn loses out the rest of the season 8-30-1 with Chytil, Howden, Andersson, ADA, Pionk none the better than projected before and gets an untimely dismissal. We bring Torts back and Lindy Ruff can stay on as the grim reaper. Jeff, Jim, Glen all still in the house. Sam and Joe in the booth. Talbot gets traded at the deadline for a 3rd round pick, goes to UFA, we pick him up for $1.5M and trade Georgiev for a pair of late picks. Staple a picture of Stu Bickel in the locker room. This can work.

Being serious, I've been saying for a while that they should try to pick up Hagelin on a cheap, short deal this summer if they have cap space. He's still a fantastic possession player.

It'll come down to the price. I'm sure there are some teams out there that might pay an extra $200,000-$300,000 for an experienced cup winning PK guy with speed and puck retrieval. On a small contract, $200,000-$300,000 can price out a lot of value for a bottom 6 guy. I dunno. GMs have signed a lot of $2M-$3M 3-4 year deals for established role players in the last few years in UFA.

I think Zucc would gladly sign a 3-year/10m contract with the Rangers. Zucc is not in it for the money. He loves the Rangers, the fans and the City.

Most posters criticize players for the lack of loyalty. In Zuccarello you probably have one of the most loyal guys in Rangers history.

He better sign before the deadline.

No, only looking ahead to the Feb. 25 deadline, by which time Hayes — third on the club with 33 points (10 goals, 23 assists) — will either be elsewhere or working on a fat contract extension. There is no indication the Rangers have engaged in serious negotiating with No. 13’s agent, Bob Murray, though the parties have talked

If Brooks was running the show, Hayes would have gotten paid already.

Be that as it may, Don Meehan, Zuccarello’s agent, told The Post via email late Tuesday that there have been no discussions with the team regarding a possible contract extension for the 31-year-old, who first arrived on the scene at the 2010 training camp and is third on the club in seniority behind Henrik Lundqvist and Marc Staal.

The Oilers are believed to be interested in Zuccarello. So, too, Carolina, which is both light on forwards and is seeking to move pending free-agent winger Micheal Ferland. The Rangers would not be interested in Ferland, but rather the rights to Harvard junior defenseman Adam Fox.

Keep wracking up the points and increase that trade value.

Old Zuke is coming back...I am worried about Brady he seems to be a shell of himself after a coach change and new contract....for over a year now 80 plus games...For the right deal he has to be in the conversation and maybe sooner rather than later..like the TDL! PS a total reversal of my thinking

Skjei is #3/#4 type. He's being asked to play a larger role. It is somewhat disappointing that he hasn't kicked on but still early to give up on him IMO.

Kevin Allen has an article on how many major NHL franchises are at the bottom and when will they be amongst the top teams in the NHL again.

The most important fact the Detroit Red Wings have learned this season is that they can count on Dylan Larkin, 22, to be a difference-maker.

“We’ve got what I call a bus driver,” general manager Ken Holland told USA TODAY Sports. “Jonathan Toews drives the bus in Chicago. Patrice Bergeron drives the bus in Boston. Dylan Larkin drives the bus in Detroit. Those guys are hard to find. He’s not Connor McDavid or Austin Matthews, but he is a bus driver.”

The Rangers need to find their "bus driver" in the draft.

New York Rangers: Although the Rangers announced to fans last season that they were rebuilding, it won't get real until they trade Kevin Hayes and Mats Zuccarello before the trade deadline. The hope for the future rests with forwards such as Filip Chytil, 19, Brent Howden, 20, and Pavel Buchnevich, 23. Tony DeAngelo, 23, has shown promise as a puck-moving defenseman, but hasn’t yet won over coach David Quinn. He had two goals in his last game, but is often a healthy scratch. Another key prospect is Lias Andersson (15 points in 21 AHL games). There's buzz about Russian goalie Igor Shesterkin, who is 18-4-0, with eight shutouts, in the Kontinental Hockey League this season. A few veterans will still have to be moved to create opportunities for younger players. The Rangers must take another half step back to move forward.

There is no future with DeAngelo.

Pretty much agree with everything else. He didn't mention Kravtsov but the Rangers need him to become their bus driver or one of their bus drivers. The 2019 1st rounder needs to be their guy.

They’re not firing Quinn.

The only bus driver the Rangers have is Kreider, but he calls out of work too often.

Ohhh. I know!

Because unlike what most Ranger fans think, the New York Rangers aren't some magical destination where everyone wants to play.

This is an incredibly foolish response to my question and I honestly expect more from you AK.

If that’s the case we should just trade him for whatever we can get since he’s unlikely to re-sign here.... No?

What you were saying is highly unlikely to happen. If a team trades for Kreider they'll try very hard to sign him to an extension.

You just can't expect players to come back and sign a contract once they hit FA after you trade them away for assets.

How often does that really happen? Vermette is an example. van Riemsdyk another. But that's about it. If the Rangers trade a player like Kreider, what are the chances he hits free agency in the first place? If he gets an offer from whichever team we trade him to, why would he turn that down? Players rarely gamble on FA.

Shattenkirk really wanted to play for his favorite team and that's why he signed with us. Tavares did the same with Toronto. The Rangers just aren't as special as some fans think they are. I see this argument made so many times online (Not directed at you personally) and fans cannot understand why a player wouldn't want to play for the Rangers, in the best city in the world bla bla bla.

NY wouldn't be even close to the best city in the world. It's obviously Melbourne.

And if Kreider wants to play here he’ll know we’re going to offer him a similar contract.

Look, CK is at a point in his career where he can dictate where he plays. If he wants to play here and Gorton is willing to meet his contract demands then it doesn’t matter what the team that trades for him is offering. He’ll get that money here.

Are we concerned that if we trade CK, he’ll enjoy that other ***** so much that he won’t want to come back here? I’m not. But then again, I’m also not a fan of extending him to a 7x7 contract so I’m open to the idea.
