I'm with you on his talent, he's got it.

I just want him to take the next step, and fully commit to being a pro. I want him to do all the things his coach asks, so that talent can get in the lineup consistently.

Is this Quinn?

On the surface, nothing about Edmonton is enticing to me as a trade partner. However, I can't deny that the idea of trading with a well documented incompetent GM is intriguing.

Kassian and Puljarvi would be nice .

I bet they are interested in Vesey and Fast

I’d take Sekera if they take Smith too , helps their cap

I don’t think Buchnevich has reached the point of knowing exactly what he is. He should get the opportunity to establish what he is once Zuccarello gets moved, and what he makes of that opportunity will determine his fate as a Ranger. I don’t believe we’re at that point yet.

I hope I am wrong, I just do not see it. A fair assessment on your behalf but we have watched him for three seasons with different altercations of not having steady ice time (whether he was injured or the coach did not think his play warranted it). Not sure if Buchnevich would ever be a 60 point player, quite frankly.

Regarding Buchnevich, a well built team will have scoring threats on the third line. If Buchnevich can carve out a nice career averaging 35-50 points with some powerplay time, that makes him a useful player -- and a good value third round pick. Think Benoit Pouliot in 2013-14. While I don't think Buch will be a career top-six forward, I definitely think he's worth bridging.

Would Zucc want to live in and play for Edmonton though? That may not be the right thing to do for him.
Who gives a f***? He'll play with the best player in the world for a couple months then he can sign where ever he wants.. Its not like trading stepan to waste away the rest of his career in arizona

Brooks mentioned Daniel Goneau. I just wrote something about him the other day talking to Bern. Random.

He asks why aren't these mid/late first round picks storming out of the gates and being 19 year old all stars and then he answers himself but he's somehow still indignant about it.

The other hole in the articles that he fails to acknowledge that the more than likely highest end prospects the Rangers have - Kravtsov and Miller- are not here yet.

Rangers score 6 goals, two by a player who was bridged and then signed a pretty team friendly contract due to the bridge leaving 2 RFA years of leverage at it's end who is on pace for like ~70 points.

And 4 other goals by two players who are or should be looking at bridge deals that should end with the same leverage should the Rangers make smart plays there.

But instead of bringing up the virtues and possible pitfalls of bridge deals, let's bring up Goneau and talk about whether those were the right young players?

What would his view on Zbad been in his last entry level year after being the 6th overall pick? 46pts in 80 games? (Buch did have 43 in 74 games last year)

I'm cynical in some aspects concerning this rebuild but the ones he picked there make it seem more like he is purposely trying to ignore that many of these prospects are going to be in line for bridge deals and that is quite normal.

Another cranky old man article by Brooks.

Quote by Brooks:
Or maybe it’s because Jimmy Vesey has made scant progress on Broadway this season, maybe because Brady Skjei seems as confused this year as last, and maybe because Pavel Buchnevich, who scored a pair on the power play, is back to being a fourth-line guy and it isn’t even Alain Vigneault’s fault this time around. Maybe that’s it.

I know. Patience is the byword. And I believe in it. I believe it is going to take time for the young guns — not one of them a top-five pick — to develop, and I believe in not placing undue expectations and pressure on even the best and the brightest in the pipeline. But once in a while, or maybe even just once, wouldn’t you like to see one of the yoots burst onto the big stage and unexpectedly claim it?

Well I don`t have patience I admit that, but it looks like Brooks is concerned with the amount of talents and prospects NYR are drafting in the recent years who don`t live up to their expectations, and most of the prospects are all drafted - we have very few players outside of the whole drafting system.

So my question is what is wrong with the New York Rangers Franchise; is`t a scouting issue, a GM issue, a development staff issue, and some staff members who are not doing a good enough job, or not good enough qualified, a coaching staff issue? Ruff seldom get mentioned, but our defense the recent years with him in charge has looked horrible, but in Ruff defense our defender prospects turn out to be mediocre at best, and too often not very good like Brady Skjei after he signed that 5 mil + $ contract.

Theoretically, how can this defense be fixed in a season or two?

We need a stud or two. Someone like a Ryan McDonagh....
