So they aren't that hot after him then?

Nope. Drury is waiting them out. If they drop the price dramatically, then Drury will perk up. Until then he's just keeping his feet in the water. He'd be crazy to offer anything right now. JE's value will continue to plummet. Drury has to know that. And he has to know it's not the end of the world if we don't get JE. There's no reason for him to bite right now. And JE would be a luxury player for the Rangers, not a necessity or even near a necessity. We just need a good middle 6 center. Not JE.

How would anyone on the Rangers hold up in a playoff series? Not counting last year's debacle where we were wiped off the ice by Carolina we haven't made the playoffs in quite a while. I guess why worry about holding up in the playoffs if you can't get into them.

Eichel has made the playoffs NEVER. In 6 seasons. Sooo....... Don't care if he was on Buffalo. If he can't drag them to the playoffs one year, that leaves a lot of questions to be answered.

Even worse, in 6 seasons in the NHL, Eichel has only played more than 68 games twice. In 6 seasons! So he wasn't exactly healthy before this neck thing.

Also, Eichel is clearly a top talent. But he's not a top player or center, not a top 10 center or player, until he proves he can stay healthy and proves he can carry a team to wins and the playoffs. There's at least 10-15 other centers I would rather have than him right now, all things considered. Health being the number 1 factor.

And we can't rush this team. When our players mature, they will be ready to go deep in the playoffs. Not before. And I don't think JE is making the difference, especially if he can't stay on the ice, ever. At least not next year. We can honestly afford 1 more developmental year. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Don't really care if we don't get to the playoffs until we are ready to go all the way. Not just looking for a bottom playoff seed and out in 1 round.

Well, the one guy with a (great) track record is…wait for it…Kreider!

Kreider has 17 points in his last 39 playoff games spanning the last 7 years. People complain about his regular season production yet his playoff production isn't any better. He just has the reputation since he came up and scored 5 goals in the playoffs in 11-12 before playing a single regular season game.

The way I see it is we trade Trouba and that money goes to Fox. We trade Zibanejad for a young C ala the Brassard/Zibanejad trade and we trade Kreider and use that money to re-sign Kakko and Laf.

Another thing that I never responded to but that I think should be questioned is the notion that we can deal Kreider and Trouba when their NMCs turn to NTC. Its possible, and it may seem likely today, but like we have seen so many times before, we can't bank on it...

Team's aren't doing each other any favors taking on healthy players with term and money.

Not linking to it, but Brooks included the following in yesterday’s Shesterkin signing story:
The latest on Jack Eichel consists of no more than the ongoing blizzard of contradictory tales and innuendo posted on social media, some of which has come from the account of an MSG-Network analyst who is friendly with Drury.

The Post reported via Twitter on Friday that the GM last week had been telling agents that he had never expressed serious interest in trading for Buffalo’s disaffected center and could not understand why the Rangers have been consistently linked to Eichel.

wonder if they're negotiating with Mika or Strome on an extension.

Mika I can tolerate as he's an elite goal scorer. Strome has all the makings of a disaster
