By the time Hank was Igor's age he had won a gold medal at the olympics, made the all-rookie team, had two vezina nominations, 123 RS games played, and a playoff series won. You're right, big difference. What's the problem with that? A 6 or 7 year deal at that point takes him to 35-36. That's perfectly reasonable. In comparison, Hank was 32 when we gave him a 7 year big money extension that locked him up until 39. Big difference.
he was not a calder finalist. came in 4th behind Phaneuf.Hank started 53 games as a rookie, was on the all-rookie team, was a Calder finalist and a Vezina finalist as a rookie and then he followed that up by starting 70 games in his second year and was a Vezina finalist again. Led the Rangers to the playoffs in both seasons as well.
Hank was on another level.
