I would be interested in Puljujaarvi. I am not sure Kreider is the guy I would deal for him. The kid obviously needs a fresh start. 7 points in 33 games. Ryan Strome has looked MUCH better in NY than he did in Edmonton. There's something about that team....

Puljujaarvi is a RFA at years end. He makes $.925m this year but with his bonuses he is possibly making much more.

Here's an idea for the people clamoring for the Rangers to take a couple of swings:

Jesper Fast + Jimmy Vesey for Zack Kassian + Jesse Puljujaarvi + Alex Petrovic
$1.85m + $2.275m for $1.9m + $.925 + bonuses + $1.95m

Edmonton creates cap space and improves their bottom 6 for this year and next. Perhaps they can find a way to retain either Vesey or Fast moving forward.

The main portion of this deal is Fast for Puljujaarvi.

Go back and check. Its been consistently my point re: Nash for years now. Not my problem if you misconstrue, purposefully or otherwise.

Even if I agreed you have been consistent (you haven’t been) it doesn’t make your argument any less childish. “Nash was brought here to score/lead/win/earn his paycheck/dance the flamingo/whatever.” He didn’t do whatever it was you wanted him to do. It sucked. But he underperformed because of well documented and very public injuries. He just retired because of them. How exactly should Nash have rectified this situation? Be healthier? Retire earlier to make you happy? Pay the team back? You seem to be searching for some sort of catharsis here that I don’t think you are going to find.

You definitely do something around Fast and Poo in a rebuild mode

Fast is a guy you win with .... that’s the only expansion draft miss in Vegas

Domi put up 52 points in 81 games as a rookie, then followed that up with 38 points in 59 games, and 45 in 82. Puljujarvi has 35 points total in 126 games. There's no comparison.

He might turn out to be good eventually, but his production has been very underwhelming, and we shouldn't be valuing him at a 1st round pick. I'm sure Edmonton wouldn't be willing to give him up at this point for anything less than that, and as well they shouldn't, but I'm not gambling away one of our best players on the hope that Pulj figures it out.

The comparison is that most thought Domi sucked and wanted nothing to do with him last season. ;)

Domi was 20 when he made his debut for Arizona. Puljujärvi is 20 today. Pulju is also 6'5. Grew several inches his draft year. He scored at a 0.5 clip in the SM liiga. Its amazing that EDM makes the decision to immidiately yank him from Oulu and rush him to the NHL. Can you imagine how Kevin Hayes would have looked in the NHL at 18? Pulju's legs wasn't close to being NHL ready. He has really been yanked around in an horrible environment the last 3 years. Little quality offensive ice time.

The kid has an amazing amount of hockey in him, but he must get out of EDM.

In terms of pieces we could still move, we're in pretty good shape. Zucc, Namestnikov, Vesey, one of Hayes/Zib, Skjei, Shattenkirk.

Of the Terrible Ten -LA, Philly, Detroit, Ottawa, NJ, Chicago, STL, Arizona, and Florida- I think only Ottawa and Philly have better weaponry than us.

Maybe St. Louis does, but I'm not sure they're even committed to a rebuild.

And that's pretty f***ing good considering we already had a big deadline.

We built this advantage by committing to a rebuild when we did. Nash and Grabner would have no value if we tried to deal them now. (Nash, obviously, has retired) Some of these other teams have sucked by accident. Other teams, like LA and Chicago, are emotionally invested and just aren't going to deal who they need to deal.

New Jersey is a just toilet fire, and I love it.

They're in full freefall with nothing to build with. Who are they trading for more assets? Boyle, Vatanen, and....???

They blew assets last deadline to lose in the first round.

Nico is a good player, but let's face it, their 1OA is an underwhelming 1OA. They had Pettersson on the board. Their franchise talent is a winger, which is one step above it being a goaltender.

Their defense sucks and they traded a D prospect to the Rangers to lose in the first round.

The only impressive thing they've done at the draft since the 90's is Jesper Bratt.

They have three prospects worth a damn and one of them just had season-ending surgery.

And you know what? This is what happens when you go for a first round loss with a garbage roster instead of focusing on the future.

It’s also what happens when you totally blow two high picks, one a #6 pick in an incredible (first round) draft year

We did that once and it might have cost us a Cup 10 years later.

Blowing a high pick that bad is a butterfly flapping its wings.

Hopefully, we get out of that business.

I certainly wouldn't put Lias in that category as his draft was underwhelming anyway.

This upcoming draft we absolutely have to nail. It's could be a legendary draft. 2003 Part II.
