This thread is dead after that????

Man.

Maybe our fan base needs to be traded for picks

Red dead redemption 2 online + Johnnie Walker + Gorilla Glue = Content.

Despite being a Scorched Earth Member, I would have loved to see us beat the brakes off them. Meh. Maybe Saturday.

I still see a disaster on defense.

I as well. But we have a few really promising D prospects with Miller, Hajek, Lindgren, Lundqvist, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hajek and Lindgren up later this year or next. Adding bottom pairing guys is always easy but if 1 or 2 of those 4 turn out to be top pairing, we are really set for the next decade. The team as it stands now is absolutely horrendous but i really don't see any of these guys as being long for this franchise, maybe Skjei by way of unmovable contract, but that's it (throw in ADA as well, but seeming more and more unlikely).

If we end up getting Kaako or Hughes, along with the possibility of signing Panarin (something I'm adamantly against, but must be taken into consideration), this team's top 6 could be formidable as early as next season.

I think getting one of those two guys (I'd also add Cozens to the convo) would drastically alter the progress of the rebuild.

After a season like this, it would feel tough to walk away with very bleak player from the draft. Oh we got Griffith Reinhard, Nail Yakupov or someone like that...

Everything has been discussed a million times over.

Even Larry Brooks is seeing the light.

But while this five-game skid is discouraging, it has also served a constructive purpose in exposing the Rangers’ personnel once and for all as not fast enough, skilled enough or deep enough to compete on even footing with credible playoff contenders. For this high-speed crash six weeks after the slide began at Thanksgiving also should be liberating for the organization.

The pipe dream of making the postseason tournament has all but evaporated with the gap between the Rangers and the final wild-card spot held by the Islanders now at 11 points. But who, other than the few lonely voices in the team’s room, even gave that long-shot possibility more than a passing thought entering the season?

Now, with the fewest non-shootout victories (12) in the NHL accurately representing the Rangers’ spot on the league ladder, general manager Jeff Gorton and his staff are freed to retrain their focus exclusively on what was the season’s original intent, anyway.

The Rangers are a rebuilding team and need to act like it.

Settling in to watch the Kings and Ottawa and hoping for a three point game.

This is what we’ve become.

Just think if the Rangers didn't win those two road games in Nashville and St. Louis.

They would be last already.

Zibanejad's line with Kreider and Fast had a career game together. A combined ten points in the Nashville game.

Lundqvist won them the Blues games. That's the last time Lundqvist made a save. His save % was .800 last night.

Losers of five straight.

Five more games to go before the bye/All Star break

Let's lose five more.

I'm pretty sure Brooks has written the same article the past ten days, and just changed the opponent and losing score, props to LB.

Sometimes a team just implodes, but in general, and the most likely scenario for us going forward, is that a team never is as bad as it looks after a losing streak or as good as it looks during a winning streak.

We are sitting 24th in the standing. Add in a few better streaks and a few more worse streaks and around there is probably were we are going to sit after 82 games -- if nothing is done. What this streak has done from my POV is to put us in a position to really tank and go for a top pick going forward. If I remember correctly, that is what Toronto did. You can always look at things from different perspectives, if we had 4 more pts we would be odds favorite to draft 13th in the draft next summer...

The deadline is 6 weeks and 4 days away.

Trades in January aren't that rare. Johansen for Seth Jones was a January deal IIRC. Early January. Pittsburgh also got Hagelin for Perron close in time to that deal. We made the Klein for Del Zotto trade in January I think. Gorts have been talking seriously with teams for almost a year now, when was the letter sent out? A deal sooner rather than later would be good for our cause.

Lebrun on choices for Colorado if they dip into the rental market included Zuccarello:

Mats Zuccarello, 31, $4.5 million AAV, UFA July 1
It’s been a tough go this season for the veteran forward but he’s basically been a 50-plus point player most of his career. The Avs have two third-round picks in June, their own plus Ottawa’s. Could the high Sens third-rounder do it?

LeBrun Notebook: Power forward rental market emerges,...

RangerBoy sings the "GOOOOAAL" song every time our opponent scores. You must be in heaven with this slide.

My wife keeps saying to me how could you cheer every time a team scores against the Rangers...I say lose for hughes!!

Thoughts on Zuccarello with up to 50% retained to Washington for Burakovsky and a 1st. Burakovsky makes $3m, zucc makes $4.5m, so they can gain $.75m for upgrades.

I think Washington might do that. The problem, which is Washington's problem right now, is that Burakovsky's QO will be 3.25 mil. Do they want to qualify him at that number? Do we? He has regressed since he signed the bridge deal and only has 9 points in 38 games this year. Maybe he turns it around on the Rangers with a bit more ice time, but if we are trading for him, I still wouldn't want to pay him 3.25 mil or more. Maybe it's a situation where you don't qualify him and then offer him a 2 year deal at a lower number.

If sakic wants "secondary scoring", he is going to have to part with more than another team's 3rd. If he is waiting for the next duchene-level bargain trade, Raantanen will be making $9m+ and MacKinnon will be looking at his next deal by the time it comes around.

Just sit back and watch them lose.

It’s either laughing or crying.

The team sucks. Let them suck hard so they’re no illusions about the team. None of this we’re a competitive team so we don’t have to rebuild hard and we can sign a player or two this summer and we’ll be back on top before you know it.

They make mistakes all over the ice

They have 12 ROW in 43 games. 12. They can’t win a game on the road. They are 2-3-5 in their last 10 home games.

I laugh at Staal’s follies. In the Vegas game, Staal stepped up in the neutral zone and Eakin broke in all alone to score. Staal’s shot on the 3rd Vegas goal missed the net by 50 feet and Vegas scored on a breakaway at the other end. Staal decides to change when Pionk passes the puck to no one and Barzal comes in on Lundqvist all alone. 1-1. On the game winning goal, Staal has Clutterbuck in front of him and Pionk is looking at something else which sees Bailey all alone in the slot. 4-3.

The Rangers should keep rolling Staal and Pionk out there. Don’t break up that pairing.
