Forward depth could be better with stronger Chytil/Howden, hopefully Lias works on his core strength/lower body for skating, a potential top five pick, Panarin/Stone, Kravstov, and I'd really like for them to bring in some speedster PKers like Hagelin/Nieto guys in that mold on short term deals just to improve the PK nand hold leads. If the PK was decent not good but decent like around 15th and this team could hold onto leads, they'd be #3 in the Metro. I sound like a broken record but I hope one of Pajuniemi or Virta can make the team next season and be like a 2011-12 Hagelin or better. This team is due for an offensive dynamite surprise mid-round pick.

We'l see some different D next season. I expect Hajek gets as shot, Pionk gets less minutes and will improve. I think Smith should really look into Hartford real estate for the next 24 months.

I heard the same thing going into this season. I think while this year is likely the bottoming out, next year is not going to be all that much different.

As much as I want Zucc gone and have for about 2 going on 3 years now, I think you have to hold him till the deadline and hope to drum up some bidding war. What’s his value right now? Nothing? He’s played horribly. Trading him right now is jumping the gun on the deadline. We need as many teams as possible on him UNLESS there is real truth to this Calgary rumor and they actually are offering similar to what they were at the last deadline.

Anyone else kind of miss the fake rumors? I remember the old days where we would get flooded with fake rumors and had stuff to talk about, lol. But over the years I realized that all of these people are fake. And when someone truly has sources, they have to keep that stuff to themselves. All the TSN guys dont say anything until the trade is like... 90% done. I remember when the Brassard/Zib trade was announced, they said the discussions were like a year long. Like.... if you really had sources with the Rangers, why didn't you mention these talks over the last year? Knowing all of these guys are frauds really puts a damper on what is often an exciting period.
NO

Which makes sense if he was playing timidly knowing that he was trying to avoid another head injury. Can you blame the guy?
When Naslund knew he couldn't give us his best (for Torts or any other reason) he retired and gave us the cap space, rather than go through the charade. That would have been the honorable thing to do, and the best thing to prevent another concussion, which he got.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens to this team going forward. I imagine it’s going to take some creativity to rebuild the defense proper. Trading for a young D is continginent on who becomes available to you. Or who you could force them to make available for the value youre giving up.

Guys like Kreider and Zib can net you a top defensive prospect. A guy like Hayes and shattenkirk not so likely. It feels like the Rangers May be okay on the offensive side of the puck in the future- probably more so after this draft. Not so much the defense.

I don’t see Calgary offering anything worthwhile for Zucc. You’re not getting Andersson or even Dube for rental Zucc. Can get a 2nd and a B prospect somewhere else.

Just follow Eklund. It’s basically like watching CNN:sarcasm:

Just think if the Rangers didn't win those two road games in Nashville and St. Louis.

They would be last already.

Zibanejad's line with Kreider and Fast had a career game together. A combined ten points in the Nashville game.

Lundqvist won them the Blues games. That's the last time Lundqvist made a save. His save % was .800 last night.

Losers of five straight.

Five more games to go before the bye/All Star break

Let's lose five more.
RB, I’m happy they won those games. While I’m not happy the loss last night, I’ve seen some real growth in the last two games.

Sorry but I am not rooting for a shitshow here this year. It’s bad enough now and it will get worse after the trade deadline. I’ve seen how bad it can get in Arizona (and for all their trouble, they drafted Dylan Strome)

As long as I pay for tickets, I want an honest effort to winnever6 night.

Nash was still an effective player. And Naslund retired at a much older age after making an entire career of money. Let’s not start calling Nash not ‘honorable’. The guy literally gave his body for this organization (and the Blue Jackets), to the point that he is still having concussion related issues months after he stopped playing.

Looks like he gave $2M to a billion dollar NHL franchise. What a dummy hero.
The point has been made here before- Naslund close to the end of his career, had already made many millions of dollars (like Nash). In that context, a few million shouldn't dictate what you think is best for you and your health. If you also value the organization and the fans that took a chance on you, I'm not going to fault you for it.

I know we all want action, but, trades are going to happen. The expected players such as Hayes and Zuccarello are going to be moved. Even Boomer has reached that conclusion, although he sounds like he’s expecting the Rangers sign a bunch of UFAs in the off-season. The unknown question is will there be a surprise move? That is, does Gorton move Kreider? The Rangers are obviously listening on him, but I remain unconvinced Gorton gets his asking price for him.

I feel like, baring a "holy cow we got what?" trade at the TDL, Kreider would be a summer move.

While we have a plethora of promising D prospects none outside Miller look to be game breakers. On the contrary, our forward prospects look to be a formidable top 9 in about 5 years and the top of this draft seems forward heavy IIRC.

Seems to me Kreids is best spent getting an equal value young D Stud back in the summer so Miller isn't the only egg in that basket.

UFA forwards will always be available to us when we are competing again and what we have in Chytil/Andersson/Howden/Kravtsov/Virta/2019 pick need to shake out and define their roles we can fill in the blanks with UFA's. On the flip side I think Names/Fast/Vesey stay put as roster filler regardless of offensive output until they get pushed out by youth in the next 3-5 years.

What fans where took a chance on Rick Nash? What does that even mean? lol

edit: ill stop now, feel like im just gonna start being mean and I don't want to. I disagree with your position on this and we can move on.

Has anyone noticed that Kyle Clifford has 7 goals this year? 7! Already! Also, Ryan Reaves has 8! 8!

I think we’re finally seeing the point at which the tougher guys who can still hang in this league are, IMO, finding a bit more space in front of the net. Those big, tough defensemen who used to battle them and win the puck away from them just aren’t around as much anymore either.

You know a guy I’d LOVE to add this offseason, and probably would overpay for in cap hit? Brian Boyle. Give him a two year deal, he doesn’t have to relocate his family. He’d be great in the locker room and he’s an effective player on the ice.

I didnt call Nash not honorable, but lets call it as it is. He's no hero either. He didnt give his body, he sold it. At 8 million/season. Naslund recognized that we weren't getting our money's worth. Naslund was also still an effective player, but, like Nash, not delivering to the expectations of his paycheck. Naslund did one thing, and Nash in a very similar situation did the opposite.
