Apparently Brassard and Kessel have found some chemistry on the 3rd line. If Zuccarello recaptures his old Brassard chemistry too, that's a formidable 3rd line for the playoffs.

When do folks think trades will start happening? Early February?

Any whisperings or rumours about who might end up where and for what?

Just sit back and watch them lose.

It’s either laughing or crying.

The team sucks. Let them suck hard so they’re no illusions about the team. None of this we’re a competitive team so we don’t have to rebuild hard and we can sign a player or two this summer and we’ll be back on top before you know it.

They make mistakes all over the ice

They have 12 ROW in 43 games. 12. They can’t win a game on the road. They are 2-3-5 in their last 10 home games.

I laugh at Staal’s follies. In the Vegas game, Staal stepped up in the neutral zone and Eakin broke in all alone to score. Staal’s shot on the 3rd Vegas goal missed the net by 50 feet and Vegas scored on a breakaway at the other end. Staal decides to change when Pionk passes the puck to no one and Barzal comes in on Lundqvist all alone. 1-1. On the game winning goal, Staal has Clutterbuck in front of him and Pionk is looking at something else which sees Bailey all alone in the slot. 4-3.

The Rangers should keep rolling Staal and Pionk out there. Don’t break up that pairing.

Have you no concern for @Machinehead and his mental well-being?

I know we all want action, but, trades are going to happen. The expected players such as Hayes and Zuccarello are going to be moved. Even Boomer has reached that conclusion, although he sounds like he’s expecting the Rangers sign a bunch of UFAs in the off-season. The unknown question is will there be a surprise move? That is, does Gorton move Kreider? The Rangers are obviously listening on him, but I remain unconvinced Gorton gets his asking price for him.

Just some perspective; As someone in his 30s who witnessed the dark ages firsthand and was in college for a big part of it (without many friends there and before the days of facetime, texting your home friends all across the world, watching games on your phone) this is a breeze. Remember players then took much longer to be called up and the Rangers had nothing in their system. Anytime a Thomas Pock or Chad Wiseman was called up, it was like giving a drop of water to someone who had been stuck in the desert for a month. It stinks right now and last night's game had an awful ending (I grew up on LI for a decent chukn of my life and I hate that fanbase, most obnoxious scoundrels in all of sports) but as someone else
said to quote Triple H, it's what's best for business. This team gets a top five pick and any of Hughes/Kakko/Podz/Dach/Byram/Cozens plus with 2 or three other moves this summer, next year becomes much better. Also keep in mind during 08-04 there was no Netflix, no DVR, no YouTube, no instant access to music, and less instant reporting or interaction with guys like McKenzie, Dregger, etc. So even if we live and die with this team, there is plenty more to help us get through this rough patch.

We’d better hope Lebrun is really wrong about Zucc’s value. Throwing out an early third rounder out there as a main component? That’s brutal.

So we have 6 weeks to the deadline and Hayes is still "rehabbing"(maybe from the trip to denver :) so he sits till moved? If so 6 weeks? I don't recall how long Mac sat last year? So Hayes is talking to his buddies on the team and says yeah I am ready to play but Gorts said to keep rehabbing? I'll tell you its a good strategy to help the team tank by messing with team morale. This needs to happen sooner rather than later.

I’m giving you a ‘like ‘ for the overall post, but I disagree that things will be better next year. Henke will be a year older, the defense either still has a lot of the high-priced declining vets, or has bunch of mistake-prone young Dmen that are still developing, and the depth at forward takes a hit with Hayes and Zuccarello getting moved. They are likely to still be a bottom five team next year at this time.

I don’t think a lot of hockey writers have a true understanding of player values when it comes to trades. It’s either Brooks thinking McDonagh needs to bring back Point or Sergachev, or the opposite as in what everyone thought about Nash’s value.

Forward depth could be better with stronger Chytil/Howden, hopefully Lias works on his core strength/lower body for skating, a potential top five pick, Panarin/Stone, Kravstov, and I'd really like for them to bring in some speedster PKers like Hagelin/Nieto guys in that mold on short term deals just to improve the PK nand hold leads. If the PK was decent not good but decent like around 15th and this team could hold onto leads, they'd be #3 in the Metro. I sound like a broken record but I hope one of Pajuniemi or Virta can make the team next season and be like a 2011-12 Hagelin or better. This team is due for an offensive dynamite surprise mid-round pick.

We'l see some different D next season. I expect Hajek gets as shot, Pionk gets less minutes and will improve. I think Smith should really look into Hartford real estate for the next 24 months.

Wow that's awful. I really liked Rick, more then most. I wonder what he could have been with us had he not gotten so many concussions.

He was a good soldier for us. I know people feel differently, but I never felt Ricks lack of success (at times) was related to a lack of effort.

Sucks he has to go out this way and I hope he ends up having a full recovery and can lead a full life in retirement.

Anyone else kind of miss the fake rumors? I remember the old days where we would get flooded with fake rumors and had stuff to talk about, lol. But over the years I realized that all of these people are fake. And when someone truly has sources, they have to keep that stuff to themselves. All the TSN guys dont say anything until the trade is like... 90% done. I remember when the Brassard/Zib trade was announced, they said the discussions were like a year long. Like.... if you really had sources with the Rangers, why didn't you mention these talks over the last year? Knowing all of these guys are frauds really puts a damper on what is often an exciting period.

Kind of scary he got the concussion that he is having symptoms with in March, and still played in the playoffs.

Best of luck to him and his family, will miss his interviews where he would stare into our souls.

Nash was a force during the 2013 season. It’s a shame he was never the same after getting getting concussed by Brad Stuart.
