if some how we added alex tuch to this roster i would be over the moon.

kid is a monster. and a great kid too. real quality person. coming "home" to play here would be a dream im sure.... :naughty:

adding his size and hands to this powerplay.... good lord. tuch bread and mika plus foxy and tony. drool.

5v5 hes a very strong player who can play a variety of roles from scorer to disrupter to set up guy. has all the tools plus the size we lack. very smart player on the ice. the little things he does often overlooked but hes a high iq kid

imagine adding barron and having tuch both in 2 years along with kakko. we arent small anymore.

skjei, fast and georgie is a nice little package built around winning now for vegas and building for the future for us.
I definitely want Tuch on this team, by that... seems like a lot just for him?

Man, I was secretly hoping the Rangers would sign Acciari from Boston. He seems to be blossoming in Florida.
Would have loved him on this team and what an amazing team friendly contract! Sad to say not sure if we even had enough money to sign him

when looking at our depth on RHD, we should all think back to what it looked like roughly 2 1/2 years ago prior to the stepan trade...we had literally nothing. people were excited about zborovsky ffs cause he was a righty. now we are trying to figure out how to fit them all on the team...

a fantastic job by gorts, but also a remind of how quickly depth at a position can change (positively or negatively) in a short amount of time.

So wouldn’t it make sense for Davidson to book a flight to Sweden and spend some time with Andersson? Would the player refuse?
This shouldn’t be about appearances, or about taking a strong stance. This should be about fact-finding, with perhaps a dollop of compassion added to the mix. The Rangers have an obligation to themselves to learn as much as possible about what apparently went so wrong with Andersson, a player who was drafted in that prime position more because of his character than his talent.

Trading Trouba before his clauses kick in should be a top priority for the Rangers starting tonight (alongside trading Kreider and the other UFA's that should be moved).

Get the conversations with other teams started right away. Trouba taking up eight million in cap space with a NMC until 2024 while Fox and DeAngelo are also on the roster makes absolutely no sense.

It should absolutely be explored. If he gets us a solid, young 2C on an ELC with 1C potential or the same in a high pick, it would be malpractice to not pull it.

It should, but he is probably our most physical player.

Not if both Kreider and Buchnevich are traded. Trade them both and you can sign both DeAngelo and Strome to long term deals.

And if not, then Gorton can take him to arbitration where he WILL get more than $4.5, but not any type of megadeal and then sign him long term the following year.

I'd keep one of Kreider and Buch, and try to trade Skjel instead. that should free up enough money to keep ADA and Strome.

I was kicked off the Lias Andersson thread for some stupid comments speculations (went overboard a bit).

My impression: Watching the video of Lias receiving the silver medal and tossing it in the stands I think his issue is he loves winning, but is a sore loser when loses. So far in NHL/AHL he hasn't been much of a winner and he does not know how to adequately handle it, so he basically decided to throw his NHL career away just like he tossed that silver medal.

We really just need to buy time. If HL retires, that will save us a lot of trouble. If we could bribe someone to take Smith that would help.

Besides HL, Staal and Smith coming off the books, we drop in 'dead' money significantly year after next. We have nearly $7M in dead cap this year and over $7M dead cap next year. That's a literal good-great players salary... but paying Shattenkirk and Girardi until 2023.

In 2021-2022 we reallocate $23M of the cap... Nearly 30% of the cap is currently dead weight + an aging King.

buy time to do what?

This team needs a top 6 forward and 2 defensively responsible bottom 6 forwards. Possibly another top 6 forward if/when Kreider is moved.

Our LD with 2 legitimate 2nd pairing guys and a 3rd pairing guy. Lindgren doesn't seem to have the skillset or the projection to be more than a 3rd pairing guy, but he is fine for that role. One of Hajek or Rykov you'd hope could develop into a 2nd pairing guy. Miller is great but he is still a bit ways off. Skjei seems to be painting himself out of the picture. Ideally, getting a young LD that already is a 2nd pairing guy that we believe could take the next step into being a top pairing LD would be ideal.

So, assuming Kreider is dealt
2 top 6 forwards
2 bottom 6 forwards
1 top pairing LD (or more likely a 2nd pairing LD with upside)

and I think that would make us a legit playoff team that can make some runs

Our ammo to acquire those pieces: Kreider, Skjei, Andersson, possibly Kravstov, one of our 4 RD (3 starters plus Lundkvist), Georgiev

It would take some work, but could be done

Good article by Brooks. But he forgot one task for Gorton/Davidson -- is Chris Drury a guy capable of being GM of HFD? I very much question that. It also seems like there are some real filters in place between what goes on down there and what reaches Gorton's ears. That is typically incompetent management. If I don't pass on info to my boss it has never happened.
