I agree for sure. Far from Strome’s biggest fan, but he is just playing so much better. A real breakout.

But, he Strome really taking like the same deal as Benny Pouliot took from EDM in 2014? I am just afraid of his price tag being close to 8m per than 5m...
???????????

Strome has more points this year than Poiliot ever had in any season of his career

Poiliot signed his deal of 5 years at 4 million per year, and he was an unrestricted free agent at the time. We acquired Poiliot as a free agent, whereas we acquired Strome via trade, and Strome is a RFA at the end of his current contract... Without getting into the vast differences in playstyle (center vs winger also), league cap numbers, roles, competing offers, etc...

There is really no comparison at all to be made other than that they are both once highly drafted players that played in Edmonton at some point prior to playing to New York

Whenever I think of Benoit Pouliot, I just think about tacos

If we're talking about getting a forward group that can not only make the playoffs but also compete, then those are the holes that I see. Kreider gone, and get Buchnevich out, he doesn't fit or bring enough for what he will be costing soon.

Quite a few holes to fill.. hopefully Kravtsov is the 2RW. And luckily we’ve got a glut of D prospects, so maybe we can fill some of those holes at forward with smart trades.

Ya know, I’m about ready to call a timeout on roster speculation and making any major moves until we have an NHL coach and NHL system.

Watch Hartford play and it’s night and day. 5 guys in the picture at all times. No gaps. No giving up the line puck support. Multiple breakout options. It’s night and day from this shit show.

Yeah well this board would have given up JT for a bag of pucks at that time so the collective brain trust here also got that one wrong.

And JT Miller is on his second team since the Rangers, and if he were here, he'd be our Ryan Strome. A guy who looks good on the stat sheet when paired with a star or superstar player.

So essentially we replaced Miller with Strome. Same age. Same ability when put in the right situation. Same production. Similar salary.

Yeah but how about miller for buch

I’d give a lot to have that one back

hartford is supposed to be running the same system....so is it coaching? design? or execution?

Honestly, I wouldn't.

I wouldn't undue the Tampa trade, or take on/back those salaries.

Additionally, I don't know if Buch doesn't do the exact same thing as Miller in a scenario like Vancouver, or even Tampa.

We will see when he goes to Edmonton playing with McDavid and Draisatl

It’s also the A and not the NHL.

Come on. It’s a lot easier to implement and be able to run a system against an aHL team, then an NHL team.

Let’s just be honest. Quinn’s strength as a college coach was in creating relationships with players and connecting with them. The rangers focused on a guy who could forge relationships with the players and every day work with them to get better. He wasn’t Montgomery who won at Denver with a very specific system.

This was always being be the learning curve for Quinn. The question is just like a player, does the game slow down for him on the bench.

I mean just like the players have to improve, so does the coach. But it’s laughable, but predictable that the posters here are already saying they could devise a better system.

But let me ask you a question could you stand in the center of 23 professional athletes and reach them/ or are they gonna look at you like you got no business thinking that you could. Bc your not a coach, your a fan who watches with a critical eye looking for things to harp on and as tendencies are established, the vultures circle.

And the last part is not solely directed at you kovy

It’s to everyone here. I remember being young and thinking I could do this, I could that, I’m stronger than that person, I could do what they do.

But as you get older and you see these circles and you realize the day in day out part, you recognize their are so many more components to the jobs/roles to the job you think you have the drop on.

I wouldn’t undo the trade either. I’m saying I’d have preferred to include a different guy, ala buchnevich and that I’d rather him Miller in buch’s Role.

That’s what I mean by one id give a lot to have back. The chance to include buch instead of miller

And I still rather have miller’s combo than buch’s combo even if both were putting up similar pounts

Rangers are not that good. Teams who are not that good should sell at deadlines.

Teams who are not that good who see Hall having a MVP season who buy Grabner and Maroon at the deadline, well we saw what happened. Replace Hall's name with Panarin, switch up some names like Kakko/Hischier Palmieri/Kreider and I guess to me it becomes a lot simpler.
