Bruins fan here. Not sure where to ask this but this seemed like a reasonable place.

How has Adam McQuaid been for you guys? He was always a fan fave and likable with great toughness and we will forever have a soft spot for him being part of 2011. His lack of skating made him less effective the last few years as the game has changed and sped up.

I’m curious how he has been playing and what Rangers fans think of him.

Lots of mixed reactions here about him. Some posters hate him, think the game has passed him by. Others look at him as the type of player this club has pretty much lacked for a decade and appreciate have him around.

He's a solid character guy still. I like having him here as there are a lot of youngsters that can learn a bit from him.

Rangers defense in general are having a really tough time so it's hard to single him out but I don't think he's been terrible.

He rag-dolled Kadri. That was sweet.

He's been on the ice for more goals against per 60 than any other Rangers D, but I think he's tough or something.

The season eventually exposes everyone. The Rangers, who have won just five of their past 18 games (5-8-5), have been exposed as a team deficient in hockey IQ every bit as much as one that lacks high-end skill, speed and physically imposing athletes. It has become a team that compounds its own mistakes and consistently gets sucked into the vortex of unmanaged emotions.

That paragraph sums up the plight of the New York Rangers.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see a Hayes+Zuccarello package deal similar to McDonagh+JT. I don't think Zuccarello is getting a first rounder on his own.

Hayes and Zuccarello are both rentals.

McDonagh had another year remaining on his contract and Miler had another season left before becoming a group III.

Injured or scratched, mostly

Could pionk be a top pairing guy once he gets some moreexperience?

Doubt it but he will be a better top 4

The D is the biggest problem ... Staal , Smith , Shatty are not part of the long term plans

McQ is a rental .... Claesson a depth spare guy

De Angelo I’m not confident on soooo that leaves Skjei and Pionk

Pray Miller , Hajek , Lindgren , Rykov , Lundkvist , Gross develop..... think how bad the list was before they started selling and getting picks / prospects

Sell hard for the future

I hope Gilmour gets a call-up this season after the TDL. He's fine as a third-pair or #7. Works harder than Smith.

Unless Sakic thinks that J Hughes is just too small to contribute right away and or to be nearly as effective in the NHL there’s zero chance he trades that OTT pick. If he does and the price is Kreider AND Hayes how can Gorton pull that trigger?

Clickbait

Larry writing the same stuff is getting tiring

Unless someone inside the organization is telling him to push Colorado hard for these pieces, give it a rest

Honestly the Avalanche are just as likely to miss the playoffs as make it at this point. Don't see them as buyers.

…buying Hayes and Kreider is more of a multi-season buy than just for this season's playoffs.

Avs aren’t moving Ottawa’s pick for Hayes and Kreider — not with that pick having a chance to land them either Hughes or Kakko at this point.

If Ottawa’s pick was hovering in the 10-15 range, it would be in play for the right deal.

Hayes to Colorado with an extension makes a lot of sense. They have the cap room and the need for better secondary scoring. That’s a team that can do damage in the playoffs. Their top line is going to be a handful for whatever team they match up against.

I also wonder if a guy like Vesey would interest them. He has chemistry with their Harvard center. He’d be a depth scoring option on a short term contract.

Time to commit. If they finish 8th seed, they'll be in the same position next year. 2006-'10 SHOULD have taught them. How many Little-Engine-That-Could, 8th seed finishes are necessary before it registers?

For people who expected NYR to contend within 3 years, we're still in rebuild Phase One and have been delaying.

There’s a misconception about this 'rebuild/retool' - Real Life Pro Sports is NOT your video sim league.

Young players do not all become good or great players. In fact, most don’t move the needle. Their "overall ratings" don't bump up automatically like your dynasty NHL19 game.

Some of you value youth as if there’s some guarantee they pan out, and you’re projected 4-6-8 years into the future.

Additionally, this line of thinking also usually regards a guy over the age of 27 as 'older' - again, possibly because you're 19 years old yourself and don't have an honest perception of what prime years. Again, stuck in a video game mentality, it's season 2025 and you're creating yourself on the RW with Lias and Hughes.

Oh, one more thing - I'm not moving Kreider for jack shit.
