Seem to hear Jesper Fast mentioned more and more in rumors. Athletic chimed in recently. Cost controlled, versatile player who's only 27. I would imagine Gorton would find alot of interest. Wonder what a return would look like for him? Maybe even part of a larger deal?

Fast is one of those players who is more valuable on our team than he'd be in a potential trade.

Yes our D sucks....but it also must be pretty demoralizing to have an NHL All Star ALL World goalie show his demoralizing body posture after these goals slip past him in so many different ways . It must be demoralizing to have him stare guys down after a giveaway or whatever . I'm sure some guys would like to clobber him right over the head after some of them goals after getting that look from him . I dunno....but no matter what he has done for us in the past earns him the right to do some of this stuff and continue to do so . Geesh...you have to wonder what gets said by him in the room after these games . Maybe it is just me....but I have noticed over the past few years how guys seemingly play better in front of the back up . Plus...how many jumped in when he was run in Dallas ? I think his time is up in NY . He is not the guy you might want around when you have a team of kids . Get him out of here or have him sit out more games until he wants out . Until he is gone...we will never be able to break in any young D properly . Maybe that is what is wrong with Skjei and why he has regressed ?

Yes, it is Lundqvist's fault for getting frustrated after facing a historic amount of high danger shots. If it's not a high danger shot, his defense is putting the puck in his net. But his body language is the issue.

It's not his high point, but I don't see how it's relevant. I'm sorry, it's like it's just an opportunity to take a shot.

Hoping I'm not reading into that Dolan comment too much. Feels like per those words they are looking to compete for the now and not look ahead.

Nah, I wouldn’t read too much into them.

I think it’s the whole concept of losing 6-3, but fighting, vs. losing 6-0 and showing next to nothing.

In all seriousness, Dolan must still be high from whatever substance he used while performing with his crappy cover band in front of 3 people at some local bar.

I think JD knows what's going on here and he's just giving the owner's equivalent of "get pucks deep" answers to reporters, but who knows, he's nuts.

Dolan reminds me of soccer moms who think their baby boy is good enough to play professionally and then blames everyone when it doesn't happen instead of accepting reality

That's just Dolan's version of what the GM in Dallas did to try and get players going. Losing is one thing, getting rolled with no effort is quite another.

I gotta chime in on this one because I somewhat agree with Leetch.

As a Soccer and Hockey goalie myself at a younger age, I tell my son seemingly every year as a Lacrosse goalie, "you set the tone", keep your head up and if one goes in, don't let your team or opponent know it gets to you. It snowballs. Sometimes, as goalie, you have to be the mentally toughest dude on the field.

Sulking or frustration gestures during a game is contagious and it snowballs through to following games. Believe me, I've seen some 20 to 2 stinkers when the boys play Section 1 teams and you have to bounce back. Fight or flight.

I love Hank, but that to me has been one of his only weaknesses his career here. He gets that way sometimes. It was different when there were other senior players in leadership positions. That's a different animal with players who are already developed. I'm not saying Hank is on a Shockey/Manning level here, but young kids don't need to look up to that as the way they are supposed to carry themselves. It breeds excuses and dissent, not to mention "walking on broken glass" confidence issues.

You are.

Of course teams will want to make the playoffs. It's free $$$$$$$.

Also, in regards to the "competitive" comment, there is a difference between "playing competitive" and "being competitive"

We could be bottom 3 by weeks end so there's hardly any reason to believe we will be buyers to gain post season entry.

JD is just saying enough to divert the media from the dressing room issues. Losing sucks and bad attitudes can develop.

Hank shouldn't play consecutive games for the rest of the season. Give the kid more starts.

I appreciate where you all come from. I played my share of team sports and had the experience on both sides as the D or goalie. And I'm not denying the fact it's a negative.

I don't know if the hockey world truly appreciates how awful the defense has generally been for hank. The difficultly of shots he faces, the high danger chances, screens, deflections, in close, second chances. No one is close to what he deals with. The d does a terrible job.

He is probably not helping things. But this isn't chicken or the egg. The d plays terrible, he reacts.
