Not a ranger fan coming in peace with a sincere question.

Since the rangers are in a rebuild mode why aren't they trading lundquist? He's getting older and he could yield a massive return to bolster a rebuild.

My thinking is, if the rangers are in rebuild mode hank isn't in their long term vision.

He has a NMC. They told him they’d be rebuilding and gave him the choice to stay or go. He wanted to stay.

Interesting. How many more years does he have left? Maybe in his last year he'll ask for the trade to do a Dom Hasek. Which would be great for the rangers. Heny would yield back so much. You're talking a top prospecy, a first round pick plus.

As mentioned, two more years. It’s possible, but hard to picture. He loves NYC and wants to retire a Ranger. At least right now. Two more years of frustration might change his mind.

What are the ranger fans thoughts on that? He'd really be helping the team if they trade him, plus he can go chase a cup for 2 years. It seems like not trading him is slowing the franchise down for their full rebuild.

I would like him to retire here.

Lundqvist and Hayes to Colorado

for

Ottawa 1st, prospect, and Varlamov

In upgrading from Varlamov to Lundqvist and adding Hayes, it has to be that package

I see where you're coming from. Both Hayes and Varlamov are on expiring contracts. We're just taking Varlamov back to make space for Lundqvist's salary hit.

I think it would be worth talking to Lundquist again about waiving that NMC. It's one thing to be on board before the season. There's new players, a new coach and hope that you can turn things around quick. Now that he's right in the middle of a team that is completely uncompetitive I think he may feel differently. The other thing that he needs to realize is that it's not going to get better anytime soon. This team is going to be bad for the remainder of his contract. There's no quick fixes. Even if they sign Panarin this still isn't a playoff team, let alone a championship contender.

Any chance we might be interested in getting lindberg back for a late pick? Apparently Vegas needs to get rid of someone to get Pirri back in the lineup

Put yourself in lundqvist's shoes. Even if he comes to terms with leaving, it won't be during this season. He will take his time, think it through, pick his spot. He has to plan where he lives, schools, his wife's concerns. He won't flip a switch and just go from gutting this out to pulling on a new jersey in 6 weeks.

If and when he goes, it's in the summer after much drama. Don't factor in whatever assets any time soon. It won't be for this draft.

This team doesn't need to sell to plummet like a train in the ocean. But please start to unload now, give us something semi exiting.

Hank does seem to be looking to heavens a lot lately.

Maybe he thought it wouldn't be this bad--is it possible he thought yeah its going to be rough but we have some real vets on defense in Shattenkirk Staal Smith etc

As we all know that defense crumbled Hank could easily have a GAA in the 3's.

They just got crush by Colorado with their great first line.

He allowed 4 more today.

There's a very good chance if he changed his mind which no one should have an issue with he could very well be the second coming of:

Patrick Roy.

Hank / Hayes
For
Ottawa's first / Makar or Kaut and Val.

Got to admit I want a little more but we're clearing cap space even if they try to re-sign Val.

Ottawas pick will never be available imo.
