Kreider + Lias for McMichael... :sarcasm:

I know it wont happen... but it semi-triggering that Washington finds all these studs.. From Backstrom to Kuznetsov and now McMichael... We had to claw and scrape to finally end up with Zibs.

No team is going to be parting with a young up and coming forward for Andersson + . We're getting a bottom 6 player plus a pick or a comparably performing prospect.

Kreider is held in high regard around the league. Speed and size with decent scoring ability and a good locker room guy. Every playoff team would love to add a guy like that.

I think we will get a Nash return for Kredier, more that Hayes that is for sure. Also good in the playoffs too. Part of me wants him as a lifetime Ranger cause the kids can learn from him. Yes he has consistent issues but he is still a beast in front of the net

Damn, was checking on some AHL players. Anyone remember when Kaut was untouchable in a Kreider trade? The kid has ONE point in the AHL this season.

And there are many many other struggling kids in the AHL or the SHL too for that matter (like Dominic Bokk with 2 pts on the season). It’s tough for kids to get into the pro game right now. If you get a role on a top special team pts will come, but the base is low. You don’t get much for free.

I doubt Kreider gets 7 years from a team in a desirable location. If he wants to chase a contract, he might but I don’t he is that guy. You find me a top end team that’s going to be able to fit him in. Colorado might have room to fit him in now, but not for 7 years with the contracts they will have to hand out 2-3 years down the road. I would expect his agent knows the exact lay of the land.

I don't know how i'd feel about this. I'd hate to see him go but i'd also feel like it might be a mistake to sign him long term.. No way he takes less than 7 years.
Pac and JVR signed for 4 and 5.

Limited amount of 'contending' teams can afford a long-term big $$$ deal for Kreider.

Colorado, Dallas, Arizona come to mind as teams more than capable of going 7 years for him. Teams like Edmonton and Toronto could as well with other moves.

I’d actually say that contenders would be more likely to hand out the longer deals in order to lower the AAV than a non-contender.

man I’m a big Rees guy. Like him a lot. But Lundkvist can’t go in a trade like that

I would do that move no doubt, but I also like Gauthier.

But Rees was a real big miss by the scouting community this last draft. A real big one.

Zucc got 6 years. NHL GMs would give Kreider 10 years if it weren’t for the CBA.

Go look at Arizona’s 20-21 cap and tell me how you are going to do that. Arizona has over $74 MM committed next year for 14 players without any consideration of Taylor Hall. Toronto?

And do you really think Kreider wants to go to Edmonton (they have cap issues too)?

Heck with it...rent him out , get a pick &prospect and reel him back for 3-4 seasons . Dump Skjei and make use of that money . Skjei just makes so many soft plays in so many game ! There now...I can't believe I said to keep Kreider . Him and Zibs looked pretty tight there today . Maybe I have underestimated his work in the room and off ice....it is important overall .

Im not convinced all of the players they’re spending their cap dollars on will be staying in Arizona

The more I think about it... I'd rather move Skjei and/or Buch over Krieder.

We really need a LHS... one that can and will actually shoot

I am glad I am not the GM....it is a very tough decision to be made . He is a big boy but I don't think he can sustain playing with a chip/edge on his shoulder for any amount of time which is the type we really need moving forward . However in saying that I would rent him out and utilize any return on him to our advantage and entertain a resign if he took our terms and money offered without clauses where we could move him if needed if we ended up in a cap squeeze . I think he really will take less to stay after watching things unfold on the bench and ice today .

On a somewhat seperate note... We really need a LHS... one that can and will actually shoot

I'll see your statement and raise you.

I would move Skjei and Buch - in exchange for B tier futures. Additional by subtraction, and clear space.

Anderson is likely a throw in in a trade at this point unless it's for someone else's underwhelming player.
